First ever!
wow i am such a loser! i've had this site for over a year and this is my first post. *shakes head* I guess i'm slightly more computer savy now than i was then. oh well.
so i'm writing today to tell you all i found a really cute guy i'd like to ask out. he works at my library. ok, i like elves (even though i know i'll never get one) but this guy came about as close as humanly possible. He has pale, skin without looking all bottom-of-a-fish-pasty, white-blond hair with just a hint of red in it, and sweet, blue-grey eyes. *sigh* He even has a strong build--[my friends always acuse me of liking only pale, scrawny white guys, because every other guy i've ever liked had the build of a shirt hanging on a stick]--and so because this guy looks like he could hold his own in a fist-fight he's completely different for me. The only problem is that i have no courage. Maybe i'll just have to start checking out more books...sexy (elf) librarians!
Speaking of which: i'd like to suggest a book sereis to all of you: The Twelve Treasueres, by Rosemary Edghill.
Book 1: The Sword of Maiden's Tears Ruth, studing to become a librarian, stumbles on a mugging victim. But he isn't your typical victim. Melior is a Morning Lord, a prince of Chandakar: basically, he's an elf. His skin is pale white and glows faintly in the dark, his eyes have slits and flash in the light like cat's eyes,
his touch is magic. [basically, folks, this is why i like elves]The problem is, instead of taking his wallet like a good little new york mugger, this mugger steals his sword, the heirloom of his house: the Sword of Maiden's Tears. If he can't return it to his land before the crowning of the king, his entire House will be banished from Chandakar forever. His enemy, who wishes his whole House's ruin had booby-trapped it, so that as soon as Melior grasped it it would pull him all the way back to the World of Iron--by attaching it to someone's soul--Ruth's. And he's got to find it fast: any human who touches the sword will be cursed by an elven security device on the sword and turned into a gredel--yes, those of you who have read Beowulf perked up at that, eh?--and grendels eat only human flesh. And, to complicate matters, Melior reveals that Ruth is his Heart-twin: every elf in Chadakar has a heart twin, someone they are destined to be with. Melior had searched all the lands beyond the Morning for the face that had been with him in his moments of deepest pain, only to find her on earth, the World of Iron. Will she forsake her life to come with him to Chadakar?
Book 2: The Cup of Morning Shadows Intorduces Melior's bitter magic-paralysed sister Vusinane, and his amazon-warrior-like cousin Jaussarande. A mysterious human called Fox has come to Chandakar to lead the human-serfs in civil war against thier elf-lords. Jaussarande goes in search of her House's treasure: the Cup of Morning Shadows. Will she find it in time to save her house?
Book 3: The Cloak of Night and Daggers Here's another tasty elf: Makendeor, elf-nerd! Holly is a human who's always been really into the Mideval times--she even has a full suit of armor. But at a Sci-Fi convention she runs into a real-live elf who's just escaped from a mental institution--Makindeior. Makindeor is the elf-librarian to the library of the king; he guards the Book of Airts, in which one can read the locations of all the treasures. But why was the government holding him, and subjecting him to cruel electro-shock therapy? What is the Sunwise Project? And Holly, going to Chandakar with him, has no idea what a formidable warrior she is with that full suit of iron armor. The touch of cold iron is death to elves.
unfortunatley there are only 3 books in the series. THere should be more: Mel is sooooo cute! I didn't write any of the Mel&Ruth stuff in book 2 & 3 because it gets juicy and i didn't want to ruin anything since you don't know how book one turned out.
ah, well i'm tired now.
what do you all think? should i ask that one librarian out?
eh?
well, send me your advice!
bye
