10
Nicole and Eureka ran after her, only going as far as the volcanic path would let them. The called desperately after her, and Rone and Gloria followed them. “Stop!” hissed Gloria. “You’ll just make it come back!” She grabbed their arms and led them towards the portal. Rone was pulled also, but she shook Gloria off. “This is my entire fault…”
“What are you talking about?” cried Gloria, tightening her grip on Eureka and Nicole’s hands. “I should have never asked Gloria to come…” Rone said. Gloria looked furiously at all of them. “Come on, let’s go now.” She reluctantly let go of the gasping girls’ hands. Nicole shuffled to the edge, and her shoulders heaved up and down. Eureka tried to yell, but only a hoarse whisper came out. “Please…” Gloria hiccupped. A figure jumped of the cliff wall, right in front of their paths. “Where do you think you’re going?” she said sharply, like Rone. She looked at the other three girls, stunned and tired, and then her attention rested on Rone. She chuckled and drew out of a long, worn case a sword. “Come on, Rone! Fight with me!” She held her sword in front of her, battle posed. Rone shifted her weight to her other foot. “Yuna…” she exclaimed. By her side was a smaller sword, a bit longer than a dagger. Eureka thought it was there for protection against Skoltan creatures…Rone drew the small blade, the sound of metal being rubbed against her case. “Hmm…that’s new, Rone. Ha, do you even remember me?” Rone didn’t move, except her knees, which bended a little. She’s about to fight her….Eureka thought. Rone’s expression turned dark, and a tight grimness stretched across her face. “Forget you…never.” Yuna smirked. “That’s right. Never forget your sister, hmm?” Rone grinned tightly, and her shoulders heaved. It took Eureka a second to realize that Rone was laughing. “Oh, Abtra, Yuna, I can’t forget you. Oh no, never! Look, you scarred me!” Rone turned her head, revealing what was hidden behind her chin-length bangs. An ugly scar reached across her jaw line, almost up to her ear. Yuna frowned. “You evaded that easily…” Rone bent down and pushed her weight of the side of the canyon wall. She swung at Yuna, but Yuna evaded the attack by crouching low. “Come on. You can swing better than that!” Rone countered Yuna’s strike with a hit to Yuna’s left arm. Yuna stumbled back for a second, and then took her sword to her side, as she lifted the blood onto the sword’s hilt. By now, Nicole and Eureka had taken out their weapons, and were poised to jump in. Just before Eureka set a foot in, Gloria blocked them off. “This is her battle.” She muttered. Eureka looked at the two sisters. “Yeah, but she’s losing.”
Rone screamed once in pain, clutching her arm tightly where it was gashed open, and picked up the blood-covered dagger. She swung it expertly through her fingers, taking her hand off her open wound. “You’re going down.” She said, furious. Yuna laughed. “Okay…next time, you’ll be stronger. Come back when that’s the case, you abtrak.” Yuna smirked, and then ran across the canyon wall, her feet defying gravity. Her sword dropped amounts of Rone’s blood over her path. The girls walked unwillingly to the portal, where Rone was twisting her blade through her fingers, blood dropping to the ground. “I will…” she muttered as she walked last one through the portal.
Eureka and Nicole split paths, where they left Gloria and Rone to the forest trees. Gloria climbed slowly into her usual tree, and sat there, awake and shaking violently. Rone climbed into an old oak with her left hand only, and struggling under the weight. She collapsed to the tree’s strong branch, and moaned deeply. Her wounds were deep, and her pain was great. “Gloria…for every breath I take I feel my regret…” She coughed, clutching her dagger tightly.

9!! And not even close!!!
They all swallowed hard as the mirror started to speed up, changing rapidly the colors of the rainbow, and the mirror started to open up to Skolta. “Wait, I’ll go first.” Gloria said when Eureka took a step forward. “I’d rather risk my life than have yours risked.” She stood up on the platform and said a string of Tutluskan words. “Come. I have someone to show you.” She said calmly. Dazed, the other girls followed. They stepped up to the platform too, and as they walked through the mirror, they felt the intense heat of a volcano. Gloria turned around to face them, and she stood there, her eyes closed. She spread her arms out, and four blue dragonfly wings sprouted out of her back. Her face didn’t change, until she opened her eyes and drifted slowly off the giant canyon floor they were on. “Wait here and I’ll go find them.” She said, as her wings brushed furiously and she was gone across a wall of rock. She came back a minute later, with an anxious-looking girl. Gloria landed on the ground with a small cloud of dust, and placed her hand on the girl’s shoulder. “Eureka, Lochelle, Nicole, meet Rone. She is the fourth mage, the mage of fire.” Rone looked at them, crossed her arms, and smirked mischievously. She lowered her head and sighed. “Oh, it’s been too long.” She said in a sharp voice. She looked at Nicole closely. “I haven’t seen a human in ages…” Nicole winced, and drew back. “Actually, Rone’s a human like you guys too. She has lived in Skolta all her life.” Lochelle stared at Rone. “Then why is she here? I mean, shouldn’t she be back at Earth with us?” Rone spoke to Gloria in Tutluskan for a moment. Dang it…Eureka thought. We’re not in mage form, so we can’t understand what they’re saying…Gloria shook her head, and Rone pleaded, until Gloria sighed, her wings drooping. “All right, Rone. You’ll come back with you guys to Earth. Oh yeah, you should know a little more about her. Long ago, about 13 years….Rone’s parents, and human and a fairy, had Rone, and tried to escape Earth and to bring her here at Skoltan volcanoes. Ever since then she’s been here.” Rone nodded and turned to them. “And since that, I’ve always wanted to go back to my home planet….But now I finally will! Please take me with you! I just want to be normal…not have to worry about the Skoltan War, and other distresses! I want to be just like you, and go to an Earth school!” She grew more rapid with every word, her eyes widening. “Okay….well, I guess that’s it?” Lochelle said slowly. Gloria was drifting off the ground with her wings, and they drew back into her back. Nicole flinched, grossed. That was all they were here for…Eureka thought. That’s it? Just a girl then we leave? Weird…Well, oh well. It’s kinda weird here anyway…All of a sudden they heard a great shriek, the pounding of heavy wings, and then a great big grey blur soar through the air. Lochelle screamed, and she was dragged away in the giant bird’s talons as she was swept away. She screamed again, and then she was gone.

#8!!
“Shh! Keep it down!” cried Lochelle.
“….I’m sorry…I’ve just had, a lot of anger lately and just wanted to take it out on someone…It’s not your fault. I hope I can make it up…”
Eureka paused for a moment as Gloria nervously fidgeted with her uniform tie.
“Okay, how about this? How about you tell us how to get to Skolta? Please, Gloria! We’ve been thinking about it all day!”
Gloria though for a moment, then relaxed, and gave a deep, heavy sigh. She nodded. The three girls listened closely as she told about Skolta.
“The reason I had to leave yesterday was because of the mirror.” The girls looked at her strangely. “Yes, a mirror. But it is a secret passage to Skolta. You may think this is odd, but I have to put a spell on it every day at sunset. That is to stop all of the evil creatures from coming through the mirror.” Eureka thought for a second, and then said, “Yeah, I get it. By why a mirror?”
Gloria’s small smile faded away. “Unfortunately, it’s the only entrance from Earth to Skolta.” They all nodded with her. “When can we go to Skolta, Gloria?” said Lochelle.
“Sure enough, Lochelle, when the time is right.”
For the rest of the week, they went to their regular days, seeming not to notice their patience running thin in each of them. Then, that Saturday, they met near the fountain again, for an important meeting. “Thank you for waiting all week for this.” Nicole looked suspiciously at Gloria. “What do you mean, ‘for this’?” Gloria took a few deep breaths. “I’m going to take you all to Skolta. But, please, be careful.” The three jumped up and down with excitement. The were finally going to see they place they were expected to save. “Girls! Calm down! I didn’t say it was safe! The Elders don’t wait it, but I’m willing to take you.” With that she motioned for them to follow her. “Um, Gloria? Exactly where is the mirror?” asked Lochelle doubtfully. “Well, it’s a cloud. But if I can just find it…” “What?!” cried Eureka. “What do you mean, if you can find it? Is it like Chance or something? We can only go at certain times? When can you actually find it?!” She stopped dead in her tracks, and raising her voice to a yell. Gloria just stood there, shaking her head. She chuckled and looked at Eureka. “You talk too much.” She said. Her finger stuck out at a cloud, and wisps of silver magic ran from an invisible connection. Her eyes glinted, and the cloud she pointed at levitated down, or they were going up…or something. “Wha…how are we going up?” Nicole said, breathless. “Tsbin avra cometanl…” Gloria spoke, her heavy Tutluskan accent swelling the words. Eureka squinted her eyes, and when she opened them, they were slowly settled on the cloud. A giant mirror was levitating lazily off the ground. The mirror was surrounded by an aura of golden light, and Gloria took a graceful step forward, to the mirror. “Okay, mages, are you ready to meet your destiny?”
