Chapter 2!!
After that, she walked down the hallway with Eureka to Mrs. Lattivi’s classroom. Eureka found out that Lochelle walked really fast. When they finally reached Mrs. Lattivi’s room, Eureka found that she was a very old lady with pointy glasses. “Ms. Lochelle, Ms. Eureka! Please take your seats.” She barked. Lochelle rolled her eyes and skipped over to a girl with short black hair waiting in a row with two empty seats nearby. Lochelle sat in one, and she motioned Eureka to the other.
Eureka sat next to Lochelle, who winked at her at said, “After class.” After Science, her first core, she heard Mrs. Lattivi get up and leave the class. “Don’t go crazy during this period. It is your social hour, but not your destructive hour!” she barked. As soon as she slammed the door behind her, everyone burst into conversation. Lochelle nudged Eureka on her shoulder. “Hey, Eureka, I want you to meet my best friend, Nicole.” The girl with the short black hair waved, so Eureka waved sheepishly back. As the two girls started to talk about Claire, Eureka was glad that she had something to relate to. She told them of her meeting with Claire that morning. “That tall girl is 100% evil!!” Nicole snarled. “She is a good for nothin’ slacker! I still can’t believe that she made it into Middle School!” Thankfully, Claire had another teacher, so they didn’t have to deal with her. Before long, the three of them became fast friends. Eureka, who was usually very shy, found that they had a special bond that kept them together during that day. They met at the end of the day in the courtyard to make plans for the weekend. “Why don’t you come to my house?” said Eureka. “We can study for Mrs. Lattivi’s stupid pop quizzes.” Nicole pulled out her electronic planner, and busily started to press buttons. “Um, let’s see. Tomorrow, I have a date, Wednesday, I have rehearsal, Thursday, I- hey!” she said. “That day, Friday and the weekend, I’m free!” She looked at them like it was a big deal. “I say we go to Eureka’s house and do a study group!” She slipped her planner into what seemed to Eureka a bottomless bag. Eureka thought for a moment that maybe it was falling deeper and deeper, and deeper…”So, what do you have for homework?” Piped Lochelle. Eureka gave a sigh of disgust as she pointed to her stuffed backpack of homework. “For an old hag,” she said, “That lady sure knows her algebra!” Lochelle opened her small backpack and pulled out a couple of worksheets. “This is all for me.” Eureka gasped at how much it was. Nicole, seeing Eureka startled, pulled her to the side and whispered to her. “Lochelle is a really good student; she makes the honor roll every year. It’s kinda scary.” Just then, they heard a loud crash, coming from the forest. Eureka, dazed, dashed out of Nicole and Lochelle’s way. Despite their calls, she ran, but she didn’t know why. Another loud crash sounded, along with a great earthquake, and Eureka lost her balance and toppled over into the grass. Nicole was running behind Lochelle as she gathered Eureka up. “Are you okay?”
