Chapter 3!!!
Eureka, still stunned, saw a giant creature looming over their heads. She started to panic, throwing herself this way and that, until she broke free of Lochelle’s grasp. She grabbed their hands, and ran to the water fountain near the forest. “What in the world?!” cried Nicole as she looked over her shoulder. The giant creature was big eyed, about 10 feet tall, and looked like a giant lizard. It was running towards the place the three girls had just been, and then he swiped blindly at nothing. He bent over and sniffed the air. Eureka, out of breath, leaned against the large water fountain, in the middle of the walkway. She watched, curiously, as the monster looked about, pulling up a bench and throwing it over a fence as if it weighed nothing. Suddenly, his head spun around and faced them. He started to run very fast, towards them. Eureka shrieked in horror as she ran towards the main gate. She pulled Nicole’s hand again, but then let go. “Wait.” She said quietly. Eureka’s legs stood placed in the dirt. Lochelle slowed down and she backed down behind a tree for cover. Nicole gave Eureka a weird look. “Are you mad?!” She cried. The monster was getting closer to them. Eureka turned around and faced the creature. On the corner of her eye, she saw startled students running away from the monster, careful not to scream to attract his attention. “Wait.” She repeated. “Why is he just chasing us, and no one else?” Nicole pondered at what she had just said, as she had a point. Lochelle, very scared and worried, stepped out from behind a large oak and shuffled towards Nicole and Eureka. The monster was about a yard away from Eureka. She tightly held onto her skirt as he neared. He came closer, and Eureka could see that he was holding three necklaces in his fist. He slouched down and came to a halt a foot away from her. He held out the necklaces for her to take them. She put her hand out, not knowing what would happen. He said something to her. “Kimptouri grylpz tyohaw.” She looked at him bewildered, and as if he thought she was dumb, be thrust the necklaces into her hand. She looked at the necklaces, and as if in a trance, put on the purple necklace that seemed to be sparkling. The necklace was put on carefully, and a purple light billowed around Eureka as she was slowly lifted into the air. The light flashed for a second, and the next, Eureka was on the ground again, but the heavy necklace was gone. The other necklaces were shoved back into his hand, and she stepped back slowly. He blinked at her blankly, as if he didn’t know what she was doing. He turned angry for a second, then relaxed. Eureka hid behind Lochelle as the monster started forward. He held out the orange one to Lochelle, and the green one to Nicole. They slowly reached out for the necklaces, and he placed them in their hands. They started to glow, and after another blinding light, they had disappeared from their necks. The monster smiled, sort of, and backed away until he started to fade away. He pointed at them one last time, and again in his foreign language, said, “Chosen Ones.” Then he was gone.
