Chapter---4?
A long silence followed as the three girls stood by the fountain. Water falling was the only sound they heard. “Okay. What just happened?” asked Nicole. “I…I have no idea, but that was pretty creepy.” Lochelle exclaimed. Eureka realized that both of them were talking loudly about the incident. The other students, whose scared selves were hiding in the forest thankfully, had seen anything besides the light. Eureka, Nicole, and Lochelle quickly looked around, and ran towards the main gate.
When Eureka got home, she found her mom sitting cross legged on the wooden floor, a big bulky box full of pictures nearby. “Hi, honey! How was your first day of school?” Eureka shrugged, put down her backpack, and went into the kitchen to make room for a snack. As she ate the cookie she had discovered, she thought of the creature that followed them and gave them the necklaces. Where had it come from? Why did he give them to us? Why was she worrying about it so much? She decided to shake it from her head until tomorrow when she saw them again.
The next day, she saw them sitting on the steps, and she raced through the main gate. She saw Nicole and Lochelle waving to her, but just as she was about to reach them, Claire jumped out in front of her. “Hey!” She yelled angrily. “Why are you hanging out with that nerd Lochelle? I do think that it’s good that you’re friends with Nicole, steps in the right direction….but still, lose the nerd!” Eureka was stunned, and before she could reply, Claire walked away with a flip of her hair. Eureka sighed, and then walked over to Nicole and Lochelle. “Geez, she is really getting on my nerves!” Said Eureka. “And it’s only my second day!” Nicole shook her head with Lochelle. “That girl just loves to annoy people all the time!” said Nicole. “Does she ever stop?” Eureka asked. “Nah, she’s like a girly robot. Always running all over the place, scaring the livin’ daylights outta students. It’s a real shame that no one’s tried to strangle her yet.” Eureka was so into staring at her hand, that she didn’t realize what Lochelle had said. “Hello? Eureka?” Nicole looked at her closely. “What are you doing?” she asked. She peered at Eureka’s palm with her and then looked at her face. She waved her hand in front of Eureka, but she just shoved it out of her face. “Look.” She said. On Eureka’s palm there was a little glowing dot moving around her hand as if it were trapped inside her. Then, the same thing started to happen to Nicole and Lochelle. Their palms started to glow, until a few minutes afterward, when it stopped. Then, without warning, a streak of light flew across the clear blue sky. “What in the world is that?!” Nicole cried. The three girls ran in the direction of which the comet had led. It took them to a tree where a girl was hanging upside-down from a tall limb. “Wow. I wonder how she got up there!” Lochelle said. The girl started flailing madly, muttering words. “Well, we better let her down!” Eureka said. And with that comment, she started to slowly climb the tree. When the girl was safely down on the ground, she patted her head. Eureka looked at her like she was crazy, and at that moment, they were sure she was. “Quitalin tluskn ablide tuke.” She said. “Hey,” Lochelle said, “She sounds like that freaky monster who gave us those necklaces.” The girl desperately tried to communicate with them. “What in the world?” Nicole muttered again. “Maybe she’s not from this world!” exclaimed Eureka. The girl pointed at her palm, and wrote letters. “What is she doing?” Lochelle said slowly. The girl got furious and grabbed Nicole’s hand. “Hey! What are you doing?” she tried to jerk her hand away but failed. Then the girl pretended to put on a necklace. “Okay, maybe she wants to play charades.” Eureka said a bit understanding. The girl pointed at her back, and then her heart. She touched her forehead, and then chanted some odd words of hers. A light flickered dimly from her forehead, and the girl opened her eyes and looked at them. “There, that’s better!”
