Lazarus Heart: Found in the mist
*episode 5*
The group is gathered in a large shrine or small temple. Their host, Kiri, has left them with promises of food. The temple is at least several centuries old, but it is kept in good repair. Kagome says, “Well, that guy seems nice enough.” Miroku says, “Appearances can be deceptive.” The monk had noticed the way that Sango had been the first to move to follow this stranger, and petty jealously is not beyond the monk’s capacity. Inuyasha says, “Ya, but if Kirara knows him…I guess we can trust him.” Kohaku asks, “Sister, when do you think that he knows Kirara from?” Sango pauses to think, “Well, it must have been from when she still traveled with father. That would have been when we were both young; maybe before you were born.” “It was a long time ago; and I was younger.” Kiri says. He has entered the room bearing a food laden tray which he is quickly relived of by the travel weary group. Miroku asks, “Kiri, how is it that a…what did you call yourself? Guardian such as yourself can offer such a generous feast. Surely nothing grows in this place.” Kiri says, “The local villagers bring offerings to the shrine. As the guardian, a portion of those offerings are mine. But I have few needs, so eat.” He doesn’t have to tell Inuyasha, Shippo, Kagome, Kohaku, Kagura, Kirara, or Sango twice. The monk on the other hand refrains. He says, “You protect the shrine, is there no priest?” Kiri says, “No, few people would choose to live here.” Miroku asks, “But you do?” The guardian shrugs, “I have my reasons.” Miroku says, “You spoke of it becoming safe for us to move on, will the fog disperse?” Kiri says, “Never completely, but it will lift. In a few days it will be safe for you to travel; with me as your guide.” Getting to his feet, Kiri says, “Sango, I was wondering if you would join me?” Sango stands; and Miroku prepares to. “Alone.” Kiri says.

Lazarus Heart: Found in the mist
*episode 3*
Sango is alone and lost. She keeps calling out to her friends, but she hears no responses. She hopes Kohaku is alright. She can’t she a half meter ahead of her and her feet are hidden by mist. Very cautiously, she tries to continue heading in a straight line. The ground becomes steeper; she is moving uphill. Suddenly, she looses her footing and the world falls out from under her. As she desperately reaches for the ground on which she had been standing, she sees that it was a precipice. As her hands slip against the mist moistened rocks, she feels strong fingers closing around her right wrist. Suddenly, she stops falling and slams into the cliff. Dazed, she takes a moment before she looks up to see who has rescued her. Clasping her wrist in his own right hand is a young man she has never seen before. He looks about her own age; maybe a year or two older. He wears a simple Gee made of greenish grey fabric. He asks, “Do you intend to fly?” Stunned, Sango can only say, “Wha…Wha…huh?” He says, “If you intend to fly, I can let go. If not, let me help you up.” Sango is shocked by the first proposal and nods vigorously at the second. The man pulls, lifting the weight of both the girl and the weapon she carries. He sets her on her knees by the edge of the cliff and bends to her, “Are you alright?” Finally having reclaimed her voice, she says, “Yes…thank you…who…” She is still breathing heavily. The man smiles and says, “I am called Kiri; I am the guardian of this place. There are many strangers on my mountains.” Sango says, “We are travelers; we mean you no harm.” Kiri says, “We shall see. Come, I will lead you to the others in safety.” Sango asks, “How can you walk up here; let alone find my friends?” He says, “I know the mist well; it tells me all I need to know; come.” As they walk, Kiri keeps a hand on Sango’s shoulder, guiding her. At length, she asks, “What did you mean earlier; when you asked if I intended to fly?” He says, “If you were a tenshi, an angle as you appeared to be, then my action would have been most rude.” Sango is confident that even the mist cannot hide her blushing.

Lazarus Heart: Found in the mist
*episode 1*
Da-ku Koneko tiptoes into Naraku’s cave, hoping to not be noticed. To her great misfortune, Naraku is waiting just inside the entrance. Feigning happiness, she says, “Hi! Look, I’m sorry I’m late; it’s a long story but…” Naraku cuts her off, “Drop the act; I know that you met with Sesshomaru. I also know that he rejected you and that you’ve spent the last four days skulking about trying to decide weather or not to come back to me.” Da-ku asks, “In that case, how come I’m still alive?” Naraku smirks, “Because I’ve fallen desperately in love with you and am blind to the danger you represent.” She says, “Ok; so that’s not it. You wouldn’t let me survive this unless…” Chuckling, he says, “Go on.” She says, “It was all part of your plan! You knew I would try to sell you out.” Naraku says, “Very good; you’ve got a head on that lovely body of yours. Yes, I planed this. You went behind my back; now it’s my son’s turn.” Da-ku says, “Tattoimaru? Where is he?” Naraku says, “He was quite full of himself when he came to tell me that you were betraying me. He was understandably crestfallen when I told him that I didn’t care. He left that same day; I convinced my insects that a certain piece of information would benefit him. That has become a greater consideration to them than my will. He has gone to seek greater power.” Da-ku asks, “If he finds it, will he be more powerful than you?” Naraku says, “No; however, he will be more powerful than you. He thinks I have fallen in love with you. In time, he will try to use this supposed weakness against me; that is when I will know that he is ready to become a demon and truly my son. He will have no power over me; but when this happens, you will be on your own.” She says, “You’re playing us against each other; so that we’re less dangerous to you. But why tell me this?” Naraku says, “Knowing that I will not protect you will only increase your capacity to defend yourself.” Da-ku pauses in thought. Finally, she says, “But you’re not mad at me?” Naraku says, “I didn’t say that.” Da-ku asks, “How can I make it up to you?” The demon laughs, “I’m sure you’ll think of something.”

Lazarus Heart: Found in the mist
*episode 2*
Inuyasha’s group follows a path up the side of a mountain. They are heading to a pass several hundred meters farther up. Kagome can feel a distant jewel shard from the other side. Addressing no one in particular, Inuyasha says, “I still don’t see why we gotta walk. We got to flying demons; why don’t we go over?” Kagura says, “Inuyasha, as I have said a hundred times, there are some mountains which even the wind must go around or break against. I cannot carry us across and Kirara cannot do it alone.” Miroku says, “Have a little patience, Inuyasha.” The half-demon begins to grumble. As they enter the pass, their view is obstructed by mist. Suddenly, it is all around them. Despite their best efforts, they all become separated except for Shippo and Kirara. As each one calls out for his or her companions, they hear no answers.

One of my readers told me that there hadn’t been enough humor recently.
She was right. Therefore, I am pleased to bring you the two part conclusion of Synchronicity on a lighter note.
Synchronicity: Bringing back Sesshomaru
*episode 5*
It is evening and the group has decided that after the stress of facing seven new enemies, they need to relax. As such, they have found a hot spring. The girls and children went first; and Miroku, as usual, ended up with a lump on his head after Sango caught him peaking. Now he and Inuyasha are a bathing. Miroku says, “The pain would be a lot easier to take if Sango showed as much enthusiasm for other forms of bodily contact.” Inuyasha says, “Given it a rest monk.” Miroku says, “I’ve notice that you and Kagome have been fighting less lately.” Inuyasha asks, “What's your point?” Miroku says, “I was just wondering how that impacts the sex.” “What!” Inuyasha shouts. Miroku says, “What?” Inuyasha says, “You perverted monk; I'm not sleeping with Kagome!” Miroku's asks, “Your not? But I thought…with all that time you spend alone together in her era, and the fact that you never seem to go after any other women, except Kikyo and you never alone with her for long enough; I just assumed…do you mean to tell me that you've been celibate for as long as I’ve known you?” *Thunk* Hearing the commotion, Kagome comes to the edge of the clearing around the spring; she isn’t peaking. She asks, “Inuyasha? Are you two alright?” Inuyasha shouts, “Miroku is a sick, perverted, corrupted…” Kagome, who knows that such reactions are generally brought about by Miroku's wandering hands, turns around and steps foward shouting, “Now wait just a minute! Since when is Miroku interested in guys?!?” It is after saying this that she realizes that she has just walked in on the two; stark naked. Pausing for half a second before realizing what it is she sees, Kagome turns and hurries away. Inuyasha, who had stood up to hit the monk, sits down; blushing. Rubbing his matched set of lumps, Miroku asks, “You don't suppose she listened to, “It's only fair.”; do you?” Inuyasha, who is thoroughly confused and embarrassed, asks “Wha’d you mean?” The monk says, “Well, she saw us naked; so it's only fair…” *Thunk*

Synchronicity: Bringing back Sesshomaru
*episode 6*
Kagome, herself blushing, rejoins the others. Teasing, Kagura asks, “Did you like what you saw?” Kagome shouts, “I have no interest whatsoever in seeing Miroku…” Sango says, “I don't think she was talking about Miroku.” As Kagura and Kohaku begin to giggle, Kagome turns several shades redder in the firelight. Turning to her “friend”, Kagome says, “Ya, whereas if it had been you, you would have been looking at the monk!” It’s Sango's turn to blush; Kohaku and Kagura are laughing out right. Turning on them in only partially faked rage, Sango asks, “So Kagura have you decided yet? Will it be Inuyasha's brother; or mine?” Kagome, her anger and embarrassment forgotten, laughs. Shippo says, “That just leaves me.” Everyone stares at him for moment, then they all laughs long and hard; except Shippo who had been serious.

Synchronicity: Bringing back Sesshomaru
*episode 4*
Sesshomaru says, “What?” Da-ku says, “I said, to hell with him. Naraku is weak, that’s not a turn on for me. You, on the other hand, you are not weak. Look, we’re both demons; and demons pick their mates based on strength. Naraku is a fine choice when compared to Inuyasha; but you’re better than him. As for me, I’m powerful. I have all the powers of a priestess; that would be quite an inheritance, don’t you think? It’s simple really, you kill Naraku; and then I’m yours.” Sesshomaru says, “I don’t like you.” Da-ku says, “Don’t be silly; that has nothing to do with it.” Sesshomaru says, “I don’t want you.” Da-ku says, “And why’s that? I’m every bit as well built a demoness as Kagura and I’m more powerful. Why are you thinking about this?” Sesshomaru says, “Kagura is superior to you in ways you cannot even comprehend. Aside from that, if I was attracted to you, which I’m not, I would still reject your offer. When Kagura left Naraku, she was untouched; I could tell by her scent. I refuse to take Naraku’s leftovers.” He continues, “Now I have heard you, and now I will kill you.” As he reaches for his sword, Da-ku says, “Before you worry about me, you should worry about your brat.” At that moment, Rin screams out in pain. Sesshomaru turns in the direction he left her, but fog still obscures his vision. Hoping to deal with this quickly, he draws the Tokigin and turns back to Da-ku; she is gone. Wordlessly, he runs toward Rin’s voice. When he finds her, she is on the ground with Jaken standing over her. Somehow she has gotten a written spell plastered onto her arm; and the flesh is melting. Reaching out to remove the paper, he discovers why Jaken has not already done so. There is a powerful field of sacred energy around the spell itself; he cannot reach it. Grabbing his sword, he shouts “RIN!!!” Despite her pain, the child immediately stops her wailing and looks up at him. He says, “Hold very still. He takes the Tokigin and holds it next to her arm. In a swift move, he cuts the spell away along with a large potion of the girls arm. Throwing the sword down, he draws his other sword slices into the wound. In a matter of seconds, her arm is as if it had never been injured.” As the lord stands and watches, the girl sits up and begins to test to see that her arm is really there. Satisfied, Rin wipes the tears from her face and bows from a seated position. She says, “Forgive me m’lord.” After a moment’s hesitation, he nods his accent.

Synchronicity: Bringing back Sesshomaru
*episode 3*
Sesshomaru walks toward the figure. She is facing away from him. He says, “You are not, what was her name? Ah, Kagome; you are not her.” The woman turns to face him, regarding him with her obsidian eyes. She asks, “Is that a problem? You can call me Da-ku.” Sesshomaru says, “Your scent is a good imitation; but not perfect.” Da-ku says, “It was good enough to trick your brother.” He responds, “I am not my brother. Aside from that, you are lathered in the smell of Naraku. That, however, is not from you.” Da-ku says, “Good boy. You have a keen nose.” Sesshomaru says, “In fact, from your scent, I judge that you are his female. As such, I cannot allow you to live.” Da-ku asks, “Aren’t you the least bit curious why I chose to risk meeting with you?” Sesshomaru says, “If you aren’t going to attack, then you want to talk; so talk, but do not bore me.” She asks, “So how are things going with you and Kagura? Naraku told me about how you traded nearly the entire sacred jewel for her freedom. When are you expecting your first pups?” Sesshomaru says, “My patience wears thin.” “Could it be that she refused you?” Da-ku asks. “The mighty Sesshomaru rejected by a female of his choosing? What a shame. But still, if at first you don’t succeed…” He says, “Your point, if you have one. I grow tired of this; I do not intend allow you to return to Naraku...” Da-ku says, “To hell with Naraku!”
