The Price You Pay: Cost of Blood
*episode 7*

Kohaku stands before Sesshomaru carrying a woman again. The demon lord stands beside the tree to which Kagura is bound. Kohaku lowers Kagome to the ground. “Now let her go!” he says. “First,” the demon says, “You must see to it that she does not interfere with my plans for that one.” Kohaku nods: he walks to Kagura and holds his hand over her face. She stops struggling and collapses forward. Sesshomaru pulls the Tenseiga out of her. He asks, “Can she hear me?” “Yes” Kohaku answers. “She should be able to move in five minutes. She will be lucid in less than eight. Her friends believe that we are burying Kagura. It will be some time before they begin to worry. Of course Inuyasha’s nose will pick up the smell of her blood within minutes.” With that, he takes Kagura and leaves on Kirara. The lord grabs Kagome by her shoulder and pulls her behind him. He sits against the tree and yanks her onto his lap. “Well, let’s have a look at you.” he says. He looks her over clearly, for the first time, noticing more about her body then that it is human and female. “Well little brother, I suppose that if you have to degrade yourself with mortals, this is the way to go. Your face isn’t much, but your figure befits a demoness, maybe even a goddess. And on either one, your beauty would last for more than an instant. In a few years your youth will fade and he will have to move on. But I don’t intend to end his little romance tonight.” He lifts her head. He pulls her hair aside and sniffs the back of her neck. “Your scent,” he says, “It’s intoxicating.” He pulls his face back, but not all the way. He stays with his face above hers. Playfully, he pecks her on the cheek. She smacks him. He squeezes her head. “I have killed friends for less.” he says. He relaxes his grip and says, “Such sprit. Perhaps I give my brother too little credit; being subdued by you. But I am not so weak.” He pulls her face to his. Kagome reaches out with both arms to push against Sesshomaru’s chest, but he is determined and he is much stronger then she is. He forces his lips to hers, forcing his tongue past her clenched teeth, only to have her bite it. He keeps his tongue between her jaws, clearly enjoying every moment of the kiss. Finally he lets her go, chuckling. She crawls away, spitting. “Pervert!!!” she shouts. Sesshomaru laughs. “Knowing my brother, you may even be too good for him.” “I suppose that if Inuyasha isn’t good enough for me, then the great Sesshomaru is!” she says. “Well I’m not interested! If you trying to kill me when we first met wasn’t enough, all the stuff you’ve done since would have been, and then there’s tonight to top it off!” “You wear arrogance well.” he says. “I admire that, as I admire the way you kiss.” She wipes her mouth on her sleeve. He continues, “But you are far from worthy of me. I find few demonesses worthy to be considered to be my mate.” “You found Kagura worthy.” Kagome says. “Kagura is a remarkable woman.” he says. Kagome snickers, “And she turned you down. So is that it? She wouldn’t have you so you’re setting your sites a little lower?” “No,” Sesshomaru says, “I have decided that when I next feel the need for a companion, I will rape Jaken.” Kagome can’t help herself; she breaks down laughing. He says, “I did not bring you here to seduce you. I learned to deal with rejection centuries ago. Of course, the first time I killed the object of my affection. But one of the advantages of living for hundreds of years is that you have plenty of time to learn from your mistakes.” “So why am I here?” she asks. “If you’re not going to kill me or rape me, why’d you have to get Kohaku so upset? If you just wanted to talk, you could have said so.” The demon lord shakes his head. “And my brother was to agree with this?” he asks. “No, if I wanted this time with you, it had to be by subterfuge. As for what I want, I want to know what part you are to play.” “What part I’ll play?” she asks. “This isn’t a Kabuki.” “Oh but it is.” he says smiling. “We are all marionettes, tied to our strings, and dangling from two sticks.” He unsheathes the Tenseiga. “My father still exerts his will through the two swords he left us. The Tetsusaiga forges my brother into a hero, the defender of humanity. While the Tenseiga preserves my life, but only if I work with my brother, and do other things that go against my demon nature.” He stares off at a distant camp fire. “The child Rin,” he says, “I found…well, she found me after the Tenseiga rescued me when Inuyasha first unleashed the windscar. She had nothing, but she made offerings to me anyway. A part of me hated her, but that part was opposed by the part of my father that lives in me and in my sword. She was killed by wolves and I was drawn to her body. No matter how I justify it, I used the Tenseiga to revive her. It made me save her, and allow myself to care about her.” “Sesshomaru…” Kagome says. “My father’s will has great power. While I obey it, I can wield that power. But, if I was to be abandoned by the Tenseiga, the Tetsusaiga would cleave my flesh from my bones. You have seen as much.” he says, raising his stump. Kagome asks, “But, what about the Tokigin? You seem able to stand even with Inuyasha when you wield it.” Sesshomaru says, “The Tokigin drives anyone who brandishes it insane. However, the Tenseiga is the sword of healing. I am able to wield the one because I am protected by the other. But, I did not bring you here to talk about me. Rin and Jaken have prepared food you should find palatable. I’m going to join them, not for the food, but for the company. You are free to remain here or go any where you wish. The nearest village is two days away on human legs. If you wish to join us you must be prepared to answer my questions. My brother should find you before morning.” He stands and walks away. After a moment’s thought, she follows.

2 short ones
The Price You Pay: Cost of Blood
*episode 5*

The group is gathered in Kaede’s home. Inuyasha and Shippo are eating. The old priestess is tending to the unconscious monk. Sango is sitting, softly crying, and Kagome is comforting her. The curtain is pulled aside, revealing Kohaku and Kirara. The demon comes in first; she goes to her friend and gives an apologetic look. Brother and sister stand facing each other. Sango moves first and wraps her arms around him. After they have sat down, Inuyasha asks, “So Kohaku, did he want my sword or my head. I don’t think he’d be ready to settle for humiliating me again.” Kagome says, “I had my money on him doing it out of the goodness of his heart. I know it’s a long-shot, but it could happen.” Sango says, wiping the tears from her eyes, “I was sure that he would want your life.” “What makes you say that?” Inuyasha asks. Kagome says, “Sesshomaru is ruthless, but not to that extent. After all, he just helped bring Kohaku back.” Sango says, “When Kagura and I went to see him, he asked her to be his mate. In the same breath, she told him that his offer did not interest her, and that saving Kohaku did. I thought that he would feel rejected and seek vengeance.” “He didn’t ask for any of those.” Kohaku says. “He wanted something I couldn’t give him.” The others look at him expectantly. He looks at his sister and says, “He wanted me to rip your heart from your chest and bring it to him. I wanted to save her, but that was one thing I couldn’t do.” Sango embraces him again. He wipes his eyes and says, “I dug a grave, but I couldn’t consecrate it. I was hoping to get the monk, but I see that he isn’t going to be of much help. I don’t want to leave her body overnight. Kagome, you are a priestess. Could you come with me and give rites?” “Me?” Kagome says. “I’m not sure I’m the one you want.” Kaede says, “Nonsense child. Ye are certainly qualified to lay a body to rest. Ye must simply pray over it.” “Ok.” Kagome says. Sango says, “Let’s go.” “No.” Kohaku interjects. “I want to do this alone, but I need a holy person. Please sister, just the two of us.” Sango shares a long look with Kagome. Kagome nods. Kohaku, Kagome and Kirara walk out of the house together.

The Price You Pay: Cost of Blood
*episode 6*

Kirara is flying through the evening sky carrying Kohaku behind Kagome. Kagome asks, “How much farther?” “It won’t be long now.” he answers. Kohaku raises his hand to Kagome’s face and says, “Smell this.” There is a moist green stripe painted on the boy’s palm. As Kagome inhales, Kohaku tightens his hold on her. “I’m sorry.” he says in her ear. “The paralysis should only last for about ten minutes, but that will be long enough.” Her eyes dull-over as her muscles relax. He continues, “I don’t expect you to forgive me. But I want you to understand. I had to choose; I could have Kagura’s blood on my hands, or I could have yours. She didn’t want me to do this, but I had to. I wish I could somehow take your place, but you’re the one he wants. I hope he doesn’t kill you.” With that, he guilds Kirara toward the right field.

I want to thank Chocobo Knight and LordSesshomaru for helping me with this episode
The Price You Pay: Cost of Blood
*episode 4*

Sesshomaru walks slowly toward Kohaku and Kagura. He draws the Tenseiga. He says, “I have chosen my price, and it will not harm your sister. However, you must be prepared to agree to it without knowledge of what it is. Do you agree?” The boy nods. “Pull the object from the wound.” the lord says. Kohaku gently pulls the shard loose. “Open her robe.” Sesshomaru says. The boy looks up at him. “You do not like me touching her, so do it yourself.” Kohaku gently parts her kimono; taking care to preserve her dignity. Sesshomaru thrusts the sword deep into the wound. As the boy watches in awe, the flesh knits itself back together. The damage has healed, but she is still dead. Sesshomaru pulls his sword free. Kohaku looks up at the demon with pain and fear on his face. Sesshomaru says, “It didn’t work. She must not have a soul. I suppose Naraku had no reason to give her one. I can do nothing for her.” Kohaku begins to cry. Then he looks up and says, “I have a soul.” Sesshomaru looks at him curiously. He says, “Do you realize what you are suggesting? I have no idea if it would be possible; and even if it would be, it would kill you. You cannot live without your soul, if I put it into Kagura, you would die.” The boy asks, “Can’t you give her part of my soul?” Sesshomaru says, “I don’t know. I might even take your soul and not be able to fuse it to her body. You could both die. I can try; but are you sure you are willing to take the risk?” Without hesitation, Kohaku says, “Do it.” Sesshomaru raises the Tenseiga, and pauses. Kohaku asks, “What are you waiting for?” The lord says, “Your soul; it’s pulsing in time with the Tenseiga. You are creating an energy field. Maybe…” Sesshomaru steps back. He looks at the boarder between the sword’s aura and the abnormal power of the boy’s soul. He slices through the barrier. A blast of pure white light leaves the Tenseiga and envelopes Kohaku and Kagura. Suddenly, red bursts from the white. A great bird rises from the light. Its feathers are reddish orange, but it has plumage in yellow, green, and blue. It spreads its wings and gives a great call. It flies straight upward, leaving a trail of red light, falling from heaven. As the bird vanishes, so does the light enveloping the two. Sesshomaru turns his attention back to them. As he watches, Kagura draws a deep breath while Kohaku kneels over her. The lord sheaths his sword. Kohaku takes Kagura’s hand. She opens her eyes and smiles at him. She sits up and touches his face. Sesshomaru clears his throat: The two look at him. He says, “Kagura, I have saved your life on a condition Kohaku agreed to blindly. His agreement binds you as well. If you deny this, then I will take back what I have given. Do you accept?” Kagura nods and says, “I am yours.” Sesshomaru place two fingers beneath Kagura’s chin and lifts her to her feet. She looks up into his deep amber-brown eyes, with resignation. There is no surprise when he bends his face to hers. His nose hovers, a centimeter from her skin as he moves past her face to her neck. He inhales deeply and then pulls his head back. “…no.” he says. Before a look of shock can form on Kagura’s face, the lord shoves her roughly off of him; she falls to the ground, at once confused and unsurprised. “You rejected my offer to be my mate, for this…human.” he says. “I told you, I did not seek to take him as a mate.” she says. “May whatever you do with him be worth the trade.” Sesshomaru says. “Human, what is the name of my brother’s vixen? The one who holds his leash.” Kohaku says, “Kagome.” “What do you want with her?!?” Kagura asks. “That is none of your concern.” He turns to Kohaku and says, “You will bring her to me; here, tonight. You will then arrange for her to not be missed for at least one hour. Kagura will stay with me until you return.” “You’re going to kill her!” Kagura says. “You’re going to kill her to hurt your brother! Kohaku, you can’t, she’s Sango’s closest friend!” Kohaku looks down. Then he stands up straight; he bows. “Yes, master Sesshomaru.” The words are like knives to Kagura. She grabs him by the shoulders. “No!” she says in a hushed shout. He knocks her hands away and turns his back. “You had better not hurt Kagura.” Kohaku says. “I’ll be back by sunset.” As he walks to Kirara, Kagura moves to follow him. Sesshomaru grabs her arm. “I will not hurt you.” he says. “But I will not let you hinder my plans.” He pushes her against the tree. With tender care, he slips the Tenseiga between her ribs, embedding it deep into the tree. The sword causes no damage, or even pain; but only the upper body strength of a physically powerful demon can dislodge it. Kohaku whispers in Kirara’s ear again and they leave.

The Price You Pay: Cost of Blood
*episode 3*

Sesshomaru sits beneath an old oak and thinks. As he thinks, he sees Rin approaching Kohaku and Kagura. Then he sees Jaken blocking her path. In addition to his duty to protect her from what threat the boy poses, the imp also wishes to shield her from the site of the body. In their months together, Jaken has drawn close to the child; although he would deny it. The lord knows that he feels rejected, and he seeks to control this emotional response. He knows that he feels compassion for the mortal, and he likewise quashes the feeling. He considers the various ways in which the mortal could be of use to him. As he ponders; Rin approaches him. She comes to within five meters; then she kneels and waits to be acknowledged. After several minutes, he looks up and says, “Rin.” She walks to him and bows. “M’lord.” she says, presenting him with an armful of flowers. He examines them, checking the mixed aroma while looking for flaws. Finding none, he nods. She begins to spread them around him. Finally, she takes a particularly large and fragrant poppy and places it above his left ear. Beaming, she steps back and bows again. The ritual complete, Sesshomaru turns his attention from her. At this point, she is supposed to withdraw, giving her lord his privacy. However, she remains. He turns to her and asks, “Something else?” She asks, “M’lord, that is Kohaku, is it not?” He nods and she continues, “M’lord, please do not hurt him. I know that he serves your enemy Naraku, but please let him live.” He says, “Kohaku no longer serves Naraku. But why do you ask this?” The child says, “After I was taken, the first time, he was kind to me.” “He tried to kill you.” the lord says. “M’lord, that’s different.” she says. “How so?” He asks. “He was obeying his lord.” she says. “As I would whatever you commanded me; he tried to kill me because his lord ordered him to.” “If I commanded it, you would kill?” he asks. She pauses. “I would try.” she says. He asks, “Then, if you are so very obedient, how is it that you seek to control my actions?” “I do not m’lord!” she says. “I am asking you to spare him; not demanding it.” The demon takes a moment to ponder the difference. “Why do you care if he lives? What do you desire from him? Do you also intend to choose him over me as Kagura did?” he asks. “M’lord, I do not know why Miss Kagura would make such a choice; or even that she had.” she says. “But you are my lord and I will follow you for as long as you will permit me to. I want nothing from him m’lord; but I would rather not have Kohaku die.” He looks at her in thought. “Remain here.” he commands.

Ladies, Gentlemen, boys and girls of all ages…and anyone I’ve left out ^_^
I’m not going to name names, but someone had to ruin our fun. Mr./Miss. “I’ve read the Manga” told me that the author had ruled out one of my ideas as not being possible. As such, I have decided to abandon the story and never write again…Ok, I’m just kidding. Your humble author has been scrambling to rewrite the next chapter. It will be ready on time, and hopefully it will be acceptable to even above said person.

The Price You Pay: Cost of Blood
*episode 2*

Seeshomaru, lord of the western lands, son of the great dog general, master of his own fate and anyone else’s he chooses to take interest in, is resting in the shade of a tree. In a field before him, his servant…ward…pet, Rin is gathering flowers. His vassal Jaken is following her complaining about his dignity. Later, the girl will shower her lord with her collection. In her time with him she has developed a keen nose for flowers; seeing that Sesshomaru would only allow the ridiculous procedure if the offering was not offensive to his sensitive sense of smell. Suddenly, he picks up a vaguely familiar animal scent and the iron stench of blood. He rises and looks into the wind. He sees a cat demon flying toward him, bearing two riders. One is a beautiful woman; drenched in her own blood and quite dead. The other is a boy, also covered in blood. They land and the boy carries the woman’s body as he approaches Sesshomaru. It seems absurd to see the child carrying someone so much larger then himself; but she is slight of build and he has unseen muscles. He lowers her before Sesshomaru and remains on his knees. “Please lord Sesshomaru, you have to save her.” Kohaku says. “I have to do nothing.” The demon lord says. “I can’t see any reason why would I want to help her? She rejected me, for a mortal no less. I can’t think of a single reason to restore her life.” Kohaku says, softly crying, “Please, I’ll do anything. Just please, bring her back.” Sesshomaru lowers himself to one knee. He places a finger on her cheek and whispers, “So beautiful, even in death.” As the demon touches her face; the boy’s hand forms a fist. This small gesture does not escape the notice of the lord. “You don’t like it when I touch her.” he says. “What if I made that my price? What if I demanded her flesh in exchange for her life?” Kohaku’s fist closes tighter, but he answers, “If that is your price, so be it.” Sesshomaru asks, “And what if I demand that you never see her again? That you never get to reap the fruits of this exchange?” The boy nods. “What if I ask for your life? Are you willing to die to see this done?” Kohaku pauses then he nods again. “And if I tell you to kill? What if I desire your sister’s head?” “No ” the boy says. “Not her. That’s the one thing I won’t do.” The demon asks, “But you are willing to kill? If I tell you to kill innocents, you would do it?” “I’ve done it before.” Kohaku says. “How many do you want? Ten? Twenty? A village?” Sesshomaru regards the boy. He says, “Stay here; I will return. Do not fear child; she will not spoil in the time I will take.” In a bound, the lord crosses the field to another tree. He sits down to think.

The Price You Pay: Cost of Blood
*episode 1*

A week has passed since Kohaku’s rescue. Inuyasha and Sango have been spending more time together then they previously had. Miroku has done more then his share in the effort to repopulate Kaede’s village. Kagome has actually had a week without any absences from school. Kagura and Kohaku are both coming to terms with their new existence. It’s a Saturday afternoon and the group is scattered across the village. Suddenly a thunderhead approaches at high speed. A great clash of thunder shakes the earth. Suddenly, another, and another strike. The blasts continue, several every second. As people gather at the village’s edge, they are confronted by an awesome sight. A great beast, 15 meters tall, is approaching. The thunder claps are in time with the falling of its hooves. When it comes to within 200 meters of the village, it stops and turns sideways revealing it full form. It is a great horse. It is silver white with tones of blue and gold. On its forehead there is a huge horn; 5 meters long above the beast’s height. It kicks in the air with its front feet; and the clouds, which had previously been keeping pace with the stallion, shoot forward to cover the whole sky. The group has assembled at the village’s edge. Inuyasha draws his Tetsusaiga and runs toward the monster. Suddenly, a great disk of energy shoots from the horn. The Tetsusaiga intercepts it and there is a struggle until Inuyasha flings the disk into the stratosphere. The Hiraikotsan flies at the demon; it is struck by a bolt of lightning from the storm. As Miroku runs to the front; Sango turns to Kagura. “Get Kohaku out of here!” she says. “No!” Kagura responds. “If that thing controls lightning he’ll be safer on the ground. Let me see what I can do to break up this storm.” Sango nods and goes to get her weapon. Miroku opens his windtunnel. The beast releases another disk, flying into the vortex. Miroku seals the void and falls to his knees in agony. Then, a bolt of lighting strikes; sending the monk flying. Inuyasha leaps and strikes the horn with his sword. The creature holds its ground, and forces the half-demon back. Kagome lets fly a sacred arrow. Suddenly there is a flash and a swoosh. A lightning bolt struck at the arrow; but at the last minute, a gust of wind knocked the arrow off of its initial course causing the bolt to miss. The projectile, aimed at the beast’s heart, tears through its flank. As the equine stagers under the impact of the blow; Kagura and Kagome share a friendly glance. The demon weakened, Inuyasha renews his offensive. Three blows from his sword drive the creature back. Inuyasha is preparing to renew his attack when six bolts of lightning converge on the monster’s horn. As the beast braces itself; its horn begins to glow. A huge lightning bolt links the horn and the Tetsusaiga. A sphere of electrical energy begins to travel across the bridge. It gains speed as it goes further. Inuyasha can not free his sword from the charge; nor can he cut through the windscar. Suddenly, the Hiraikotsan flies between the opponents; breaking the circuit. This buys Inuyasha the fraction of a second he needs to unleash the windscar. As the blast collides with the lightning bolt, the energy of the bolt is absorbed by the windscar. Inuyasha’s backlash wave travels back along the same energy bridge. Now, the beast is the one trapped. The wave collides with the horn, shattering it into a thousand pieces. As the beast falls dead; the combatants rush to block incoming fragments of horn. Kohaku is pushed to the ground by Kagura. As he looks up, he sees her standing where he had been a moment before. “Are you alright?” she asks. “I’m fine.” he says. As he watches, a red spot appears on the back of Kagura’s kimono. As it grows, she falls to her knees. “Good.” she says. Kohaku rushes to her side in time to catch her as she falls. As he catches her, the nature of her injury becomes instantly obvious. A large shard of ivory horn is embedded in her chest. Kagura looks up at Kohaku. “It’s almost funny.” she says as blood trickles from her mouth. “I finally get my heart; and it breaks.” she smiles…then she is gone. Kohaku holds her lifeless corpse as her blood covers his hands. Kirara is the first to notice what has happened. She is beside the boy. Kohaku rises and whispers in Kirara’s ear. As the others see what has happened, Kohaku takes Kagura’s body on Kirara’s back. The flame cat shoots off into the distance. “No!” Sango shouts. As she begins to run, Inuyasha grabs her wrist. He is as gentle as her strength permits, but he will not release her. She turns to the half-demon in tears. “Why won’t you let me go!?!” she shouts. “I know where he’s going.” says Inuyasha. “This is something the kid has to do himself.”

Ties That Bind: Bring on the Fluff
*episode 7*

In the morning, Kohaku is sleeping in and Kagura and Sango are talking. Sango asks, “So what do you feel for my brother?” “I’m not sure.” Kagura answer. “I really have nothing to compare it to.” “How can that be?” Sango asks. Kagura tells her, “I have only existed for a few months. In that time, I have been in Naraku’s clutches. I have no childhood, no parents, nothing which would have prepared me for this.” “Well,” Sango asks, “What about your relationship with Naraku? What was that?” “That was as far from what I feel for Kohaku as I can imagine.” Kagura says. “He had power over me, and he never let me forget it. It seemed at times like even my thoughts weren’t private from him. He hurt me physically, but he also attacked my soul. He would give me just enough freedom to wet my appetite then pull me back. When I was in his castle, he was always watching me: when I slept, when I ate, when I bathed. I knew that he could do anything to me at anytime. Sometimes he would make a pretense of lust, just to show that there was nothing I could do. But it wasn’t my body he wanted, it was my spirit.” “Did he…?” Sango asks. “He didn’t have to.” Kagura answers. “It was a constant threat. It was a way in which things could still get worse. Thinking about it now I realize that if he ever had done it, the threat would have lost most of its power. I think I can safely call what I feel for Naraku hatred, and therefore, what I feel for Kohaku would be love; wouldn’t it?” “I’m not sure.” Sango says. “It’s just hard for me to use that word when you’re a grown woman and he’s still a boy.” Kagura says, “I’m not a woman, not in a normal sense; and Kohaku is no longer a child. Naraku took that from him. All I know is that he is the only person I’ve ever felt good about my relationship with. I don’t know what that means, but I want it to mean something.” “I see.” Sango says. “I can’t trust you; not yet. Also, I’m still not sure about having him go with you. But for now, you have my permission to continue to be with him.” “Thank you.” Kagura says. “Does he always sleep this late? When he was with Naraku, he didn’t seem to sleep at all.” Sango laughs silently. “He slept in whenever he could.” she says. “It’s funny, but I’m glad to see that that hasn’t changed.” “Not like you,” Kohaku says sitting up, “you were always the first one up. You and Kirara would get up before sunrise and head off into the woods.” “Good morning.” Sango says. “I suppose you’re right. Those were happy times.” Kohaku asks, “Will there be happy days again sister?” After Sango nods in agreement she asks, “Are you hungry?” “Is there any more of that stuff Kagome had? The sweet brown one.” he asks. “Chocolate.” Sango says. “Kagome says that too much of that is bad for your teeth. But, I suppose one more piece won’t hurt.” Sango smiles and the day begins.

Ties That Bind: Bring on the Fluff
*episode 8*

In the modern world, Kagome and Inuyasha are sitting on the roof. Inuyasha seems upset and this is upsetting Kagome. “So do you think Sango will do it?” Kagome asks. “Uhh!” Inuyasha exclaims in shock. “I mean take Kagura up on her offer.” Kagome says. “Oh.” Inuyasha says. “I don’t know. She was our enemy, and Sango isn’t sure how far she can trust her. Neither am I, but my instincts tell me she’s being genuine.” Kagome says, “Anyway whatever happens, what you did for Sango was really sweet.” Inuyasha turns away. Kagome asks, “What’s wrong? You’ve been acting weird all day. Did something happen?” Inuyasha looks at her and thinks. Finally he says, “Sango and I were talking last night. We…we almost…” he breaks eye-contact. “We were going to kiss. Then you called us for dinner. I didn’t mean for it to happen; neither did Sango. We were just talking; then we were coming toward each other.” Inuyasha looks down. Kagome puts a hand on his shoulder. “I’m sorry.” she says. “What are you apologizing for?” he asks. “For getting in the way. If I had known I would have waited.” “Kagome?” Inuyasha asks. “Aren’t you…I thought we…don’t you…huh?” “Inuyasha, we’ve got a very special relationship. But that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t have anything to do with other people. Sango’s my friend, and so are you. I can be happy if you have feelings for each other and still want you for my own.” “Kagome.” he says. He takes her extended arm and pulls her to him. Kagome is surprised then pleased by his embrace. They part. Inuyasha says, “We’ve both been working hard to make sure that we’re just friends. With all the stuff that’s going on it just seems to make things less complicated. Neither of us wants to hurt you. Also, there’s Kikyo, Miroku, and that lord. I felt sure that you’d be furious.” “I’m not.” she says. “I know that Sango isn’t trying to steal you from me. You told me about it so you’re not hiding it from me. I love you both and I’m glad you two like each other. If it’s more then that; it’ll make things complicated. But, we’ll figure it out eventually.” she says smiling. They stare into each others eyes, and lean toward each other. Their noses touch, they nuzzle for a moment. Then their lips meet. Kagome’s hands disappear into his Inuyasha thick silver hair; his arms encircle her shoulders. The kiss is passionate, but restrained. There are lines neither one is ready to cross. When they finally break contact, they stay with their noses touching for a long moment.
