Deep Wounds: An Inuyasha & Kagome Story

*episode 4*
Several days pass, and Kagome heals well. Naturally Kagome’s friends come and Hojo showers her with gifts. Inuyasha spends the days helping Kagome’s Mom and the afternoons playing with Sota. At night however, he carries Kagome to the roof and they sit together under the stars.
On the third day, Kagome’s friend, Ayumi comes by with assignments from school. She is in Kagome’s room, going over the key points of a lecture. She finishes and Kagome says, “Thanks, you’re a life saver.” “Don’t mention it.” she says, “What the…” She had walked to the window and looks out. She turns to Kagome and says, “I must be going nuts, but I thought I just saw a boy in red pajamas sitting in a tree.” Kagome jumps up and runs to the window. She shouts, “Inuyasha! Hiding only works if people can’t see you.” “Ugh.” he exclaims, almost falling out of the tree. He regains his balance and after a moment’s thought, jumps to the window in a single leap. “Sorry.” he says. Ayumi stares at him, then looks at Kagome then looks at his head again. He says in a resigned voice, “Go ahead.” She reaches out and grabs his ears attempting to pull them off his head. “Hey! Hey! That’s enough.” he shouts. She lets go and says, “They’re real!?!” Kagome pushes the two apart, “Ayumi, this is Inuyasha. Inuyasha, my friend Ayumi.” “Hey!” he says, “You know that really hurt.” Ayumi turns to Kagome, “So, is this your boyfriend?” “Huh!” Inuyasha exclaims. Kagome blushes and looks away. “Well I’m Ayumi and it’s very nice to finally meet you.” she says bowing. “Hi.” he says making an awkward half-bow. “Look Ayumi, you can’t tell anyone about him. He…hey.” Kagome stops as her friend grabs Inuyasha’s ears again. “I can see why you’d choose him over Hojo, he’s cute and his ears are to die for.” Ayumi says. Inuyasha asks Kagome, “…Hojo?” She answers, “Think Koga, with manners.” “I’m so happy for the both of you.” Ayumi says letting go. “Look,” Inuyasha tells her, “We’re just fri…It’s not like we…I mean…” he trails off. After an awkward silence Kagome says to her friend, “You have to keep this secret.” “But why?” she asks. “Does your mom not know about him? Is it a secret forbidden love? Oh how romantic!” At that moment, Sota sticks his head into the room, “Kagome, mom wants to know if you and your friend need anything. Hi Inuyasha.” “Tell her no, thanks.” Sota leaves as Kagome turns back to Ayumi, “No, it’s not like that. It’s just really important that this stay a secret. Promise me, ok?” “Well…Ok, promise.” she says.
