Deep Wounds: An Inuyasha & Kagome Story
*episode 7*

The creature flies off as Inuyasha rushes to Kagome’s side. “Inu-yasha I…” her chest falls a final time and her sentence goes unfinished. “Kagome! KAGOME! KA-GO-ME!!!” he cries clutching her lifeless corpse to him. He rises to face the demon, clutching the Tetsusaiga. He then looks once more upon the empty vessel lying beside him…he can’t take his eyes off her. Suddenly his body is ripped by a spasm; he holds his sword tighter as he begins to change. His fingers turn to claws, his fangs grow, and his eyes turn as red as the blood he sees before him. He casts the Tetsusaiga aside and with it all vestments of thought and humanity. Now, as a rabid beast he turns to face the demon. His attacks are erratic, he has no plan, he is rage incarnate and he charges again and again. He prepares to come at the creature again, but it grows tired of its game. It lands and braces itself with its claws. What was once Inuyasha leaps at it. As he flies, the creature expels an energy wave, a terrible wave which nothing can survive.
There is a white flash, and Inuyasha is knocked out of the path of destruction. The streak continues straight through the monster. The Tokigin sings to the death of the beast as it falls, one half one way, the other another. Sesshomaru turns to face his brother who stands between the newcomer and Kagome’s remains. Inuyasha leaps to attack his brother and is hurled back by his brother’s sword. Undeterred he renews his attack and is thrown aside again. Sesshomaru thrusts the Tokigin into the ground before him and steps toward his brother. Inuyasha leaps once more, but Sesshomaru moves faster, striking a paralyzing blow to his brother’s abdomen; he pulls his brothers to his face. “You’re embarrassing me.” he whispers. Then he throws his brother aside and continues to the corpse. “My gift, little brother.” he says as he draws his blade and in one swift motion slashes the lifeless body before him. The demon lord turns and walks away, taking both swords, passing a startled demon slayer and an unconscious monk.
