Deep Wounds: An Inuyasha & Kagome Story
*episode 8*

Several hours later, Inuyasha regains consciousness. He looks up and sees the old priestess, lying unconscious, and the monk. “She’s gone.” he says. He is sitting in a partially burned hut and the monk is resting against the far wall. The half-demon continues, “I couldn’t protect her.” As Inuyasha’s eyes begins to tear-up he cries, “Kagome. Kagome! KA-GO-ME!” “Your awake!” says a voice from behind him. Iuyasha turns and sees Kagome standing in the door way. As Inuyasha’s face show in succession surprise, joy, and utter humiliation; Miroku breaks down laughing. “And just what are you laughing at, monk!?!” asks the irate half-breed. “Nothing! Nothing.” Miroku says, still laughing. Inuyasha turns his back on both of them. “So you’re alright then?” he asks. “I’m fine.” says Kagome. “Good!” snaps Inuyasha. “The last thing we need is you getting yourself killed.” says the half-demon in anger. “Inuyasha, what’s wrong?” asks Kagome. “NOTHING!!!” he half yelps; the monk is doubled over with laughter. “DOINK!” the monk is silenced by a powerful blow of Inuyasha’s fist. “Inuyasha!” Kagome calls. “I’m out’a here.” says Inuyasha heading for the door. Kagome blocks his path, “What’s going on?” she shouts. He tries to move around her but, she keeps blocking his exit. “Kagome!” he shouts, finally meeting her eyes. They stand there and she stares deep into his soul. “Kagome.” he says. “Inuyasha?” she says. He moves around her and walks out. She stands there for a moment, to taken aback by what she has seen. With the threat gone, Miroku begins to chuckle again. Kagome gives him a second lump to go with the one Inuyasha had given him.
