Ties That Bind: Bring on the Fluff
*episode 8*

In the modern world, Kagome and Inuyasha are sitting on the roof. Inuyasha seems upset and this is upsetting Kagome. “So do you think Sango will do it?” Kagome asks. “Uhh!” Inuyasha exclaims in shock. “I mean take Kagura up on her offer.” Kagome says. “Oh.” Inuyasha says. “I don’t know. She was our enemy, and Sango isn’t sure how far she can trust her. Neither am I, but my instincts tell me she’s being genuine.” Kagome says, “Anyway whatever happens, what you did for Sango was really sweet.” Inuyasha turns away. Kagome asks, “What’s wrong? You’ve been acting weird all day. Did something happen?” Inuyasha looks at her and thinks. Finally he says, “Sango and I were talking last night. We…we almost…” he breaks eye-contact. “We were going to kiss. Then you called us for dinner. I didn’t mean for it to happen; neither did Sango. We were just talking; then we were coming toward each other.” Inuyasha looks down. Kagome puts a hand on his shoulder. “I’m sorry.” she says. “What are you apologizing for?” he asks. “For getting in the way. If I had known I would have waited.” “Kagome?” Inuyasha asks. “Aren’t you…I thought we…don’t you…huh?” “Inuyasha, we’ve got a very special relationship. But that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t have anything to do with other people. Sango’s my friend, and so are you. I can be happy if you have feelings for each other and still want you for my own.” “Kagome.” he says. He takes her extended arm and pulls her to him. Kagome is surprised then pleased by his embrace. They part. Inuyasha says, “We’ve both been working hard to make sure that we’re just friends. With all the stuff that’s going on it just seems to make things less complicated. Neither of us wants to hurt you. Also, there’s Kikyo, Miroku, and that lord. I felt sure that you’d be furious.” “I’m not.” she says. “I know that Sango isn’t trying to steal you from me. You told me about it so you’re not hiding it from me. I love you both and I’m glad you two like each other. If it’s more then that; it’ll make things complicated. But, we’ll figure it out eventually.” she says smiling. They stare into each others eyes, and lean toward each other. Their noses touch, they nuzzle for a moment. Then their lips meet. Kagome’s hands disappear into his Inuyasha thick silver hair; his arms encircle her shoulders. The kiss is passionate, but restrained. There are lines neither one is ready to cross. When they finally break contact, they stay with their noses touching for a long moment. When they have pulled back; Inuyasha says, “…I…um…I’m not sure what I should say.” Kagome takes his hand and says, “Then don’t say anything.” He squeezes her hand in acknowledgement.
