*episode 6*

Kirara is flying through the evening sky carrying Kohaku behind Kagome. Kagome asks, “How much farther?” “It won’t be long now.” he answers. Kohaku raises his hand to Kagome’s face and says, “Smell this.” There is a moist green stripe painted on the boy’s palm. As Kagome inhales, Kohaku tightens his hold on her. “I’m sorry.” he says in her ear. “The paralysis should only last for about ten minutes, but that will be long enough.” Her eyes dull-over as her muscles relax. He continues, “I don’t expect you to forgive me. But I want you to understand. I had to choose; I could have Kagura’s blood on my hands, or I could have yours. She didn’t want me to do this, but I had to. I wish I could somehow take your place, but you’re the one he wants. I hope he doesn’t kill you.” With that, he guilds Kirara toward the right field.
