Homecoming: Blood in the Darkness
*episode 8*

In the feudal era, Naraku sits in a cave. He says, “With one exception, you are all here.” Around him are gathered his new henchmen. He continues, “There are eight members of Inuyasha’s company, the monk, the elder and younger demon slayers, my treacherous incarnation, a foxling, a flame-cat, that woman of his, and of course, the half-demon himself. As such, there are seven of you and myself.” A shadowy form says, “I only count six.” Naraku says, “As I have told you, the last of you is not yet finished. She will join the fight in good time.” Another says, “Others came before us. One of them betrayed you, the others failed. What makes you think we shall prevail? More importantly, how could you possibly trust us after Kagura’s insurrection?” A third one shouts, “ENOUGH! With you it is always thinking! Who cares what came before, just let me kill them and the past will no longer matter!” A fourth, a woman, says, “Hush dearest. Let him run his mouth all he wants to. Meanwhile, let’s put ours to better use.” As the two shadows pull together, yet another voice says, “Knock off you two. If you have to do that, do it in private.” The angry man asks, “What makes you think you can order me around?!?” Naraku says, “Because he can. Now, assuming you have nothing to add,” he says turning to the last figure, “All of you be silent. Each of you knows what is expected of you, you know what rewards will be earned should you succeed, and of course, what fate awaits those of you who fail. The first of you will move at nightfall. I think…you.” He points to the first speaker. “You know what to do. Take what you need and do not fail me.” The indicated shadow bows and says, “Yes, master Naraku.”
