Homecoming: Blood in the Darkness
*episode 7*

Kikyo releases the second arrow. Kagome, who has managed to turn partially around with Inuyasha collapsed on her, raises her arm defensively. A burst of purple light shoots from her palm and the missile vanishes. Before Kikyo can respond, Kagome extends her arm and another wave of spiritual energy shoots out, knocking Kikyo backwards, into the well. Kikyo is gone, but she dropped her jewel shard in the modern era. Kagome’s family, who have come to investigate the shouting, help the dazed school girl carry the injured boy inside and to her bed. Before that, Kagome has enough of her wits about her to send Sota after the jewel shard. With her mothers help, Kagome begins to treat the wound. She knows that if she can keep him stable till sunrise, his wound will heal itself. He is unconscious and running a fever. After a few minutes, he begins to talk in his sleep, Mother…Mother…Kagome…Mother…Kagome…Kagome…” he continues like that for hours, mostly calling for his mother and Kagome, but occasionally throwing in the name of a member of their group or Kaede. However, he never once calls for Kikyo. Kagome sits by him, keeping wet rags on his feverish brow, trickling water down his throat, and holding his hand, all night. As the sun rises, Kagome, with some difficulty, carries Inuyasha to her window. When then sun’s rays strike his skin, his hair turns from black to silver and his golden eyes open. Letting him down in front of the window, Kagome sits beside him. She asks, “How’s your arm?” In place of an answer, he tears aside the careful bandaging to reveal his arm which no longer even bears a scar. “Good,” she says, “For awhile there I thought I was going to lose you.” He says, “Heh, it’ll take more than that to kill me, even as a human. But thanks for worrying. Kagome…Kagome?” He is surprised when she drops her head onto his other shoulder. Realizing that she has stayed up with him all night and collapsed from sheer exhaustion. He gently raises his arm and settles it around her and decides to wait until she is ready to getup.
