Even Better Than The Real Thing: The first of the new
*episode 1*

Several days into the new lunar cycle, Inuyasha and the others are attacked by a handful of demon puppets. The puppets release a strange soup like fog, the fighters cannot see three feet in front of there faces. As the tentacled monsters move unimpeded by this smokescreen the group losses sight of each other. Using his demon nose, Inuyasha finds Kagome and Shippo and defends them. Kirara, Miroku and Sango stumble into each other quite unintentionally. Kohaku is alone, although he can hear the noise of battle around him. Suddenly, three of the puppets converge on him. The young slayer finds himself surrounded and is grabbed by several tentacles. He tries to scream, but one of the tentacles clamps onto his mouth. Suddenly, there is a loud noise and the tentacles collapse. Kohaku finds himself be grabbed by human-like arms and pulled into the air. The tentacle on his face has not let go, and he begins to lose consciousness...He doesn’t know how much later it is, but eventually, Kohaku wakes up. He looks up to see Kagura standing over him holding the piece of demon she pried off his face. She smiles and asks, “Are you ok?” He sits up and stretches his limbs. “I’m fine,” he says, “Thanks for saving me, again.” Looking serious, she says, “I only did it because I wanted to. There’s something else I want. Kohaku, I want you to be safe. That can’t happen here with the others. Kohaku, let’s go. Let’s leave Naraku to your sister and Inuyasha. We can keep going, even to the mainland. Eventually, when Naraku is dead, we can come back. But let’s go, just the two of us.” Kohaku asks, “Are you ok? You’re not making any sense.” “Kohaku, I’m serious.” she says. “Please Kohaku; don’t you want to be with me?” She reaches out to him. He ducks out of her grasp and darts away looking for his scythe. “Who are you? ?” he demands, “and what have you done with Kagura ? ” Pulling his weapon from her Kimono, the woman lets out a malicious laugh. She says, “I have done nothing to her, but have no fear. When I am done here I will go and make her pay for taking you from me. As for who I am; you know me well. In fact, you still wear my kiss on your shoulder.” Responding to a stinging sensation in his right shoulder, Kohaku grabs at his back. As the sting escalates to a burn, he cries out, “My jewel shard” She gives another evil laugh. “In the flesh; Naraku’s flesh that is. He lent me this body from his own so that I could come for you.” As he watches, the fake Kagura transforms into a mass of Naraku’s tissue. The burning dulls and the mass pulses. Slowly, a new form emerges. As he rises to his feet, Kohaku finds himself face to face with...himself. The real one says, “No, Kagome has my shard; she purified it.” The imposter says, “Did she not mention that it was unusually small for a jewel shard? Also, she should have noticed that it lacked evil it should have possessed. After that retched woman, Kagura, first tried to free you, Naraku split me in half. One half was only slightly tainted, that one he left. But he took me from you so that I would not be lost. But you belong to me Kohaku. You are mine, I will have you back. By the way, for the short time we are separated, you may call me Giman.” Kohaku says, “Sorry, but there’s no way I’d take you back.” Giman snorts, “I thought that would be your first response, so here’s what I decided to do.” The demon swings the scythe in a wide arc, slicing into Kohaku’s arm. He says, “I’ll damage your body until you have to choose between my saving you and your death.”
