Even Better Than The Real Thing: The first of the new
*episode 4*
Sango and Kirara are watching the forest beneath them in search of Kohaku. Sango doesn’t notice them, but the demon’s eyes pick out two figures standing less than two meters apart in a clearing. When they close in, Sango is shock to find that they are her little brother...both of them. She lands and tries to comprehend what she is seeing. Before her are two Kohakus. One is holding the scythe and standing up. He has a small cut on his arm. The other is crouched down, covered in cuts, and appears weak from loss of blood. The one with the scythe calls, “Sister, don’t be fooled. It’s a demon, sent by Naraku. Earlier it looked like Kagura and took my weapon. Before I could get it back, I got this cut. It had no idea how to handle a scythe and chain. It has a sacred jewel shard, mine, or so it says . I just have to hit the shard and I’ll kill it. Sister, this will be my first demon. Stand back and let me slay it.” At the end of this monolog, the injured one shakes his head in denial. The weapon is raised for another strike as Sango says, “No ” She looks at her partner whose eyes say, “Don’t ask me.” Sango says, “I will slay this demon.” The armed Kohaku looks at her. “Fine. You’re the big sister, have it your way.” he says, lowering his weapon. Sango walks up to the wounded Kohaku, hefting the Hiraikotsu over her shoulder. He lowers his head and closes his eyes in resignation. Saying a silent prayer, Sango swings her weapon around, slicing Kohaku in half. She reaches into the wound and pulls out the jewel shard; although she is forced to drop it at once because of its evil. She says, “Kohaku, you can open your eyes now.” The kneeling, heavily injured Kohaku opens his eyes and looks up questioningly. His sister drops her weapon and falls to the ground hugging him. She says, “I know you little brother. You could never be that cruel, not even to a demon who had tried to kill you.” Content and safe, the real Kohaku drifts from conciseness in the arms of the one he trust the most.
