Lazarus Heart: Found in the mist
*episode 14*
The group is gathered outside the shrine, preparing to leave. Sango is within, saying her goodbyes. Miroku, who had surprised everyone when his bizarre allegations proved partially accurate, is agitated. When questioned, he replies, “Even if he intends to allow her to leave, Sango should show caution; there are many tales of romance between mortals and gods which end in disaster for the human.” Kagome says, “And just as many in which they live happily ever after.” The monk says, “Still, I am uncomfortable leaving her alone with him.” Inuyasha says, “I seem to recall that after we rescued a certain water goddess, you spent some time alone with her. In fact, you made us all wait while you worshiped at her shrine.” The monk says, “I resent your implication.” Turning to Kohaku, Kagura says, “But you’ll note, he doesn’t deny it.” Turing his back, Miroku says, “I’m not going to dignify that with a response.” Putting this conversation behind him, Miroku reflects on his own conversation with the deity. They had met in the rear of the shrine while the others were packing. Kiri had said, “I know that you have feelings for her.” The monk had replied, “And I know that I cannot compete with a god. I accept that Sango now belongs to you.” Kiri had said, “No, she belongs to herself. She has some feelings for both of us; I intend to allow her to choose on her own.” Miroku had said, “That is very generous of you; one can only wonder how another would have acted in your place.”
