Thunder Road: Kikyo’s path
*episode 3*
*flashback continues*
“Then you assumed wrong!”
“My apologies,” Miroku says, “But in that case you have even less standing in Inuyasha’s heart than I assumed you did before. My point remains that your desire to posses Inuyasha is not to be fulfilled. Your rage will not be satisfied.” Kikyo says, “There is nothing for me in this world, except for rage.” Miroku says, “That is not a sentiment which I would associate with the late priestess. True, I was born far too late to have met her; but I have spoken much with the lady Kaede and other villagers old enough to have known her. They all talk of her tenderness and her forgiving nature. If you lack these traits, I can only wonder if you are indeed Kikyo.” She asks, “Are you suggesting that I am not?” Miroku says, “Yes and no. From what I understand, you and Kagome battled for the soul which was once Kikyo’s. When this battle concluded, you both had life; meaning that you each had a portion of that soul. But if you are unable to progress past anger; perhaps that is all you posses. If you know only hatred, maybe you are merely Kikyo’s hatred from her dying moments. If this is so, then Kagome still bears almost all of Kikyo’s soul; and you are nothing more than a clay counterfeit.” POW This blow has none of the tenderness of Sango’s slaps; she flat out punches him in the face, knocking him over.
