Thunder Road: Kikyo’s path
*episode 4*

*flashback continues*
Miroku sits back up and rubs his eye. Half of his face is turning the same shade of blue as his robe. He says, “That out burst does nothing to disprove my claim. However, I’m willing to suggest an alternative without even requiring you to apologize.” With a humph of indignation, Kikyo indicates that she is listening. Miroku says, “Before I was so rudely interrupted, I was going to suggest that there might in fact be another possibility. While you clearly lack elements necessary to be considered to be the full soul of Kikyo; those traits may simply be suppressed. An emotion as powerful as the rage Kikyo must have felt can take on a life of its own. It is possible that you carry within you both a complete copy of Kikyo’s soul, and this living hatred. If so, it may be possible for you to purify yourself of the less virtuous of these elements; and return to being Kikyo herself.” “And how,” she asks, “would you recommend achieving this?” The monk says, “I have no idea; however, I offer you an alternative to simply brooding over your failure to draw Inuyasha with you into the netherworld. As for the means, I can only say that it would take a great source of purifying energy to achieve such an end. Also, you would need to show a remarkable amount of will power. But unless you’d like to reconsider my initial offer…” a cold stony stare is all the answer he needs, “…then I can think of no better course for you.” Deep in thought, Kikyo left the sacred place and Miroku was left alone until Kagome, Inuyasha, and Kagura came to get him. Much to his surprise, Inuyasha did not seem to be able to distinguish Kikyo’s scent from the other strange sensations he received in the holy forest.
