Mesuinu: a tale of Inuyasha
*episode 3*

Inuyasha and Mesu stand by the stream, she got a fish with considerably less effort than he did and has been watching him splash around. As he steps out, he is surprised to see her bite into her fish. “Aren’t you gonna cook that?” he asks. “Nope.” She says continuing to eat. Suspiciously, Inuyasha takes a bite out of his fish…he grimaces. “Tastes better cooked.” he says. She says, “Ya, but this is easier.” Inuyasha shrugs and continues eating. Between bites, he says, “So who are you and what are you doing here?” She says, “Like I said, I’m Mesu; and I’m here because I followed my nose to you.” Inuyasha says, “Most people who come lookin for me want to kill me.” Mesu says, “I can imagine; I was just following an interesting scent.” He says, “That still doesn’t answer my question, who are you? Where are you from? You got any family?” She says, “You ask a lot of questions. Fine, I’m a demon, I come from somewhere far from here; and I’m not going back. As for my family…let’s not talk about them. Now it’s your turn.” He says, “My family’s dead, mostly, I got nowhere to call home, and we’ve been through what I am.” They sit there and finish their meal. When done, Mesu says, “Well Inuyasha, I’m on the move for now; and if you’re not too attached to this rundown piece of forest, you’re welcome to come with me.” Inuyasha asks, “Where are you goin?” She says, “I’m looking for something. I’m not sure what; but I’ll know it when I find it.” Mesu rises and begins walking toward the afternoon sun. She doesn’t look back to see if she’s being followed. Inuyasha sits for a long minute weighing his options. At last, he gets to his feet and heads after her. When he’s walking beside her, she turns to him and smiles. As she clears the forest, she says, “Now try and keep up.”
