Mesuinu: a tale of Inuyasha
*episode 5*

There are three guards on patrol at the gate of the castle. Inuyasha takes the one on the right, Mesu the one on the left; and the one in the middle is so shocked that he simply backs up, speechless. Mesu says, “Idiot, call for help!” The man turns and runs screaming. His two companions are unconscious; but not seriously hurt. Mesu marches into the courtyard like she owns the place, with Inuyasha close behind. In front of the lord’s residence, the guard is assembling. As they prepare to attack, Mesu says, “Inuyasha, remember to have fun.” He says, “Ya, you remember not to kill anybody.” The guard attacks, and Inuyasha and Mesu turn to the fight at hand. Swords and spears are met with razor claws; but flesh is met always with bare knuckles. The battle quickly dissolves into a slugfest with the demonic strength winning every time. When the guards are fallen or fled; Mesu continues onward. She smashes through the thin inner walls and right into the dinning room of the lord. He and his family had been wondering what all the commotion was; and when this fierce demonic woman smashes into their meal they are appropriately terrified. All it takes is the flexing of her claws to send the nobles running. Inuyasha walks in after her. She bends down and grabs some of the untouched food. Tossing part to him, she begins to wolf it down. Still somewhat shocked by the whole thing, Inuyasha pragmatically begins eating. When they have eaten their fill, Mesu stands up and stretches. She says, “Shall we go?” Inuyasha asks, “Just like that?” She says, “Yup, we came, we saw, we conquered; and we had dinner too. That’s about all this kind of place is good for.” She casually strolls out to the gate past the wakening guards. Once out, she asks, “Well I enjoyed that; how about you?” Thinking about the feel of a stomach filled with good food and the workout he had just had, he’s forced to say, “Ya, I guess I did.”
