Mesuinu: a tale of Inuyasha
*episode 7*
“Wait a minute, you’re his son?” Mesu asks. Inuyasha looks at her quizzically. She says, “The western lord, the dog demon who took a mortal noble as a mate; he’s your father?” Inuyasha says, “I guess so; how do you know of him?” She asks, “Who hasn’t heard of him? Your birth was the scandal of the century.” Inuyasha seems rather surprised; but then, he’s never had access to the demonic gossip mill. Inuyasha says, “Well, that’s my family; tell me about yours, and why you hate talking about them.” Mesu rolls her eyes and lays back. She says, “Fine, I come from a long and noble line of dog demons.” her tone tells that she doesn’t place much value on that fact. “My parents have great plans for me. Plans I don’t intend to follow.” Inuyasha asks, “What’s that mean?” She says, “They mostly involve connecting our lineage with another greet lineage. They were talking about offering me to your father; before he chose your mother. They think they can just pick a mate for me as a way to improve the breed.” “You and my old man; how old are you?” he asks. “That’s something you should never ask a lady.” she says sticking out her tongue. She continues, “Lately, they started talking about his son; come to think of it, he must be your half-brother.” “Sesshomaru.” Inuyasha says with a shudder. She nods, “I wasn’t going to wait for them to makeup their mind, so I left.” Inuyasha also lies back and muses, “Is that what families are like?” Mesu says, “Don’t judge too much off of my family. But then, you’ve got nothing to compare it to; do you?” He shakes his head and looks up at the stars. To his surprise, she takes his hand. Their claws interlock as they stare up together at a waning moon.
