Mesuinu: a tale of Inuyasha
*episode 13*

Inuyasha finishes in the hot spring, gets out, and gets dressed. As he is putting his outer shirt on, he realizes that Mesu has rejoined him. He looks up just in time to catch the fruit she tosses him. She sits down and bites into her own. Inuyasha comes and sits next to her. She says, “You know, my father is going to come after me; after us both.” Inuyasha takes this in, after a moment, he says, “Ok, so if you’re not willing to go back, we either fight; or we run.” Mesu says, “Don’t even think about fighting. Your old man could have fought my father; you and I have no chance. Besides, he’ll bring my brothers along. No, if we’re going to do this, we have to run.” Inuyasha nods, considering the matter closed. Mesu isn’t finished. She says, “Inuyasha, I want you to consider something: if you’re not with me, he might not be interested in you.” Inuyasha says, “So what?” She says, “So what? So you could go, get away from me and be safe; that’s so what.” He shakes his head emphatically, “No. If you’re in trouble, I’ll stay with you. You’re my friend.” Mesu groans and looks up at the sky. Inuyasha asks, “What?” She looks at him and says, “Inuyasha, you’re so young, and naive, and just plain stupid. Fine, I offered you a way out. If you won’t take it, then we run.” Inuyasha asks, “Run where?” Mesu looks up, and points in the direction of the setting sun.
