I create Ficiton! Check out this one!
I have created a fiction at TP and it has some of my fans/clanmates in it. Check this out and let me know what you think.
The MLC Takes Over What’s The Scoop? part 1
Twas a rather dark and stormy night in Philadelphia. Mack was at her desk reading the latest review coming in from Tokyopop. She had a deadline to make. The newest reviews were not helping her to meet this deadline. “Why did I ever start this endeavor?” she thought to herself wearily. “What’s the Scoop? should never be taking up this much time!” Mack put her head down. Just need to rest my eyes for a bit, she thought to herself as she removed her glasses.
The phone rang just as Mack started to drift off. Jolted out of her very short nap, “Yes, what to do you want!?” she shouted into the phone.
“Um … boss it is me, GinKazeRyuu.” the young voice said on the other end, “You asked me to do some checking on the world wide web for you tonight. Um… I can’t get a good connection. I am not sure that I can get you any new information.”
Tiredly and a bit annoyed, Mack answers, “Are you sure? I mean I have been working on this for about 40 hours now. I can use all the help I can get. Oh, sorry about yelling at you. You woke me.”
“That’s ok boss. Why don’t you take a dip in the pool to relax?”
“That would be a great idea if it wasn’t storming tonight. The thunder sounds like bombs going off. I wouldn’t feel safe in the pool tonight, even though it is on the lower floors of the building.”
“Well, think about it any way boss,” GinKazeRyuu said a bit nervously.
“Alright, Gin, please see if you can find me some help,” a very tired Mack said. Darn it why does this always happen around the deadline. This is the third time in as many weeks that this has happened with GinKazeRyuu’s computer. The thunder cracked and the lightning split the skies. It was a beautiful moving picture that Mack wished she could watch. Instead she picked up the next pile of work. Fiction. The top twenty were from the Mostly Literate Clan, MLC for short. Mack plucked them off and put them aside. I cannot always feature their work, she thought. It makes it hard for others to catch my eye.
A few hours earlier on the west coast, a small group of elite writers and readers had gathered. They were meeting in the offices of the MLC. A plot was in the making. It was a devious plot that concerned traveling across the country. This meant money. Money they were currently hurt for due to What’s the Scoop?
“Well, did we get GinKazeRyuu on board with this plan?” Calamari asked her motley crew.
“Yeah, we convinced her once again to help delay the web news,” a detached voice came from the speaker phone, “I, MrGBH, have convinced the child to give her boss a hard time yet again.”
“Thank you MrGBH,” Calamari said smiling, “Phase one of our plot is coming along swimmingly.”
The others in the room groaned at the intended pun. Calamari turn and everyone there went silent at once. Only the detached chuckling of MrGBH could be heard. Obviously he loved the boss lady’s puns.
“Now, on to phase two. Who wants to take a trip to the city of Brotherly Love?” asked the head of the MLC. “I can’t get away right now and it angers me to no end!!! How about you Lightrafe? Are you game to take on Mack in her environment?”
Lightrafe looked up from Letters from Iwo Jima, and answered in a bored voice, “Sure, whatever. Anything to break the boredom.”
Rolling her eyes, Calamari turned to 9261993, “I know I can count on you. Do your worst my pet!”
“Your wish is my command, my liege” 9261993 said, “Err … sorry don’t know where that came from. Yes, I would love to do my worst.” Evil chuckling followed.
“My, my I liked your answer my lovely pet. Now to the next member of this team,” Calamari turned to the young Dogfan715, “will you be joining our efforts or not?”
The young girl’s answered, “W -e - l - l, why are we doing this again?”
“What, you forgot?! For heaven’s sake!! I will go through this one more time. Mack, who is the editor of What’s the Scoop? has always featured our fiction. But as of late she has been using junk for her the fiction she has been featuring (and I thought we were friends). It has happened for the past month. A MONTH THAT WITCH!” Calamari screamed, startling everyone in the room. “We are going to take over What’s the Scoop? and only feature our fiction! Yes only ours, no one has a right to be featured before our clan. NO ONE!!!! BWHAHAHA!”
“Um, boss, I think you should calm down. You seem to be on the edge of losing it,” the unsolicited advice came from Grinzor. “I don’t think you made much sense to Dogfan715. She went under the table when you started to yell.”
Glaring at Grinzor, Calamari said, “Sorry to scare you, Dogfan715 dear. Enough! No more asking who will be going to Philadelphia. I am cutting to the chase (this scene is taking too long). Going with Lightrafe and 9261993 will be the following.” Taking out a pad she writes the names and then after looking again she made her announcement.
“MrGBH you will be traveling from your current location in England. Dogfan715, Superriceball, Airichan, Mxskai and Grinzor will be joining Lightrafe and 9261993. They will be leaving from here. Now get your stuff together and …”
“Uh boss,” Mxskai interrupted with a wince, afraid of the wrath her boss word toss her way. “how are we getting to Philadelphia? I mean, we don’t exactly have much money since no one is reading our fiction anymore. We can’t afford the air fare and we can’t exactly take our weapons on the plane.”
Instead of an angry answer, Calamari chuckled, “MrGBH, please explain our mode of transportation.”
While MrGBH was explaining the type of transportation, Mack was buried under a mound of paperwork, literally. A hand peeked out from under the avalanche of paperwork. Then the arm started to appear. Shoulder next and finally a head. Then a groan filled the office. The sudden noise causes NearlyMellow to pop her head in to check on the boss. She saw Mack was once again buried neck deep in her work. Walking over to the pile, NearlyMellow was about to yank Mack out by the hand.
“Not that one,” Mack moaned, “That is the one I had my surgery on. It will only hurt more if you yank on it.”
“Sorry boss,” NearlyMellow said thinking about this, “Hey, wait a minute. You haven’t had your surgery yet. That is not until the twenty-first.”
“Are you sure NM? It feels like someone cut into my shoulder with a knife already.”
“Yes, I am sure. I keep your books and appointments, don’t I?”
“That’s right, you do NM. By the way why do you want me to call you NM again? No, never mind. Just help me out of this mess, please,” Mack pleaded.
“Oh, ok but you have to be more careful. These deadlines are going to be the death of you one of these days. You really should think of taking a vacation from the Scoop.” NearlyMellow said with mild annoyance. She liked Mack, really she did. But there were times this lady could drive her crazy. Gently she helped Mack out from under the paper avalanche. “How did it happen this time, boss?”
“Well you see I had just gotten off the phone with Gin.” Mack began.
“Wait! Wait, since when have we had a Gin on the payroll? Did you hire someone new without telling me! Argh! More paperwork and we are already tight with the money.”
“No, no I didn’t hire someone new. sheesh, make one mistake and you never live it down, no not ever. I was talking to GinKazeRyuu, who was having computer problems, yet again. So I started to print out some of the news form the other sites. That is when the printer went skitterish and freaked out started spitting out paper like it was sick. The next thing I knew, I was buried under about a ton of paper. Thanks for the save, NM.” Mack said tearfully. NearlyMellow was the best bookkeeper in the business and she knew how to handle Mack. From the quirks of shortening people’s names to the stress crazed, deadline freaking, emotional powder keg that Mack becomes just before posting What’s the Scoop?
“Why don’t you relax a bit, boss. You are stressing out again and you can never get a good Scoop out when you are stressed out,” NearlyMellow told Mack.
“Well, if you think so NM. But what can I do to de stress is there such a word? Can you give me a suggestion, please?”
“It is still storming out, so I don’t think the pool with be a good place. Why not just walk around a bit. Or you could take your favorite book and sit in a quiet place to read.”
“My favorite book. Yes, that sounds good. Uh, NM ….what is my favorite book again?”
“Oh for the love of Mike, boss. You are definitely too stressed.” Handing Mack the black leather bound book. “I will alert security that you will be taking a walk or reading somewhere.”
“Who’s on tonight? Anyone I know? Maybe I can get a great story from them.” NearlyMellow gives Mack a withering look. “Uh, maybe just say hi. Will that be ok?” the timid answer came in answer to the look.
“I think it is Wolfrider tonight. But you know that he doesn’t like to be bothered when working. Just enjoy yourself. I will see about getting this cleaned up and in the proper order.”
“Thanks NM. I can always count on you.” Mack said as she left the office. NearlyMellow just waived as she dialed the phone.
In the pool room a brilliant light shimmers on the swimming pools water. Stepping out of the brilliant light was MrGBH. He was the first to arrive of the MLC. Eying the swimming pool, he wondered how long the others would take to get to his location. He glanced at the watch and smacked his head.
How stupid of me, he thought, I forgot to synchronize my watch with the others. We don’t even have a time to meet. I have got to find a phone.
At that very moment at the MLC the group was getting ready to leave, when a cell phone started to ring. Everyone started to look at their phones. When….
“It’s mine,” Grinzor said as he looked at the name on his screen, “I have to take this call. Can we leave after I’m done?” he asked nervously.
The others answered as one, “Yeah, yeah!”
Grinzor moved off to a quiet corner, “Are you trying to get me fired…“he hissed into the phone, “The boss is getting kind of suspicious of me. She practically ordered me to go on the raid tonight.”
Grinzor listened to the person on the other end. Interrupting he said, “Yes, it is on for tonight.” ……. “Yes, we will be right over your way in moments.” ……. “I am for real. It seems that MrGBH found a quick way to travel. He may be there already.” ……. “Yeah, it is something special. I would suggest you keep you know who in sight.”
“Grinzor, we are leaving with or without you. So cut call short or Calamari will be angry. Especially if MrGHB calls her to ask what is delaying us. I for one do not want to get yelled at by the Squid.” 9261993 yelled in the direction Grinzor had walked.
“Got to go. Take care of you know who, NM. I will see you soon. We have to stop this take over at all costs.” Closing his phone, Grinzor ran to the departure site. “I’m coming. And I still don’t get how this will get us to Philadelphia.”
“Stop worrying and just step through. Just like MrGBH told us to. We are to think of our destination and we will be there in a nano seconds.” Superriceball squeaked. Grinzor was an idol.
The group stepped through the strange device and disappeared.
In the main office of What’s the Scoop? NearlyMellow closed her cell phone. She looked out at the night sky that was slowly clearing. She shook her head and thought; this could not get any worse. They couldn’t have picked a worse day to invade. Well, it can’t be helped now. Better go find Mack. Grinzor, you better not be double crossing me.
NearlyMellow made a quick call to Security. She wanted to advise Wolfrider of the impending invasion. Knowing the Wolf (as Mack would say) this would be a great way to get rid of the boredom. As soon as she left a message, she ran out the door.
A shadowy figure slipped into the office, giggling quietly to itself. The takeover has begun.
