   Why I say
Lately, I´ve come to realize that my self-esteem has gone wacko. I like to think that I have something important to contribute, but I think that thinking that makes me cocky. Basically, I feel that if I think I´m important, another part of me will say "Wait, what makes you so important?" My saying "Ummmmmmm..." so much is a way of making my sentences/OB posts/whatever seem less overly-confident.

My question of the day: If someone could play back every sound ever made, which do you think would outweigh the other: laughter or screams?

¡Ciao!

   Take a deep breath...
Wow... I just reread my last post. No, I was NOT drunk(I can´t drink yet) or high (I don´t even wanna go there!), just very, very annoyed. Now that I´ve calmed down a bit, I can see that mostly I was just ranting. Not that I take back a word of it though! I firmly stand by what I said! I simply wish that I said it in a slightly calmer, more rational way.

Why do we go out of our way to tear down walls between some people, and build up ones beween others? Why do we hurt what we love most? Why can´t we all share in eternal happiness?

On a lighter note, here´s a joke:

Dead ahead, through the pitch-black night, the captain sees a light on a collision course with his ship. He sends a signal: "Change your course ten degrees east."
"Change yours ten degrees west," comes the reply.
The captain responds, "I´m a United States Navy captain! Change your course, sir!"
"I´m a seaman second class," the next message reads. "Change your course, sir."
The captain is furious. "I´m a battleship! I´m not changing course!"
"I´m a lighthouse. Your call."

   It´s all a haze...
...the heat, the sun. What is the point of the world? Why are we here? I mean, look at me. Just a couple hours ago I was worried about a sunburn, but the world is dying right before us! Who gave us the right to control the earth? Are we the only sentient beings, or the only ones with enough nerve to corrupt an entire planet? Call me a tree-hugger, but just what´s wrong with hugging trees? I´ll have you know it´s a very theraputic experience! Why is it when someone is willing to dictate, they´re called a leader, but when someone is willing to revolutionize, they´re called an agitator? Should we let ourselves be evil? Why does one have to travel on a plane for eight hours to get from the concrete jungle (NYC, my hometown), to an island where the people actually let stuff grow (where I am now)? Isn´t there a better way????????

   Yeeeooooowwwch!
No, I´m not really mad, just very badly sunburned. A note to anyone who may go to the Canary Islands, wear TONS of sunscreen. I´m pained, bored, and running through my mangas faster than sun cream- at this rate, I´ll be out by Monday (bad, since I don´t leave ´till Friday). Oh well, at least my anime is taping. The sucky thing is I called my friend Fluffy at home, and he was at BAAF- reminding me that I´m not! Oh well, enough compaining. Till L8R.

   ¡Hola!
Wow, I can actually do an upside-down exclamation point!¡!¡! How neat! Anyway, this is to ask everyone ¿Que tal? and all that (this is so awesome!). I´m on the island of La Graciosa, in the lovely Canary Islands. The keyboard I´m using is kinda funky, so I´ll be quick. The scenery here is absolutely gorgeous, but I´m really bored, and somewhat at a loss without my anime. I´m actually missing new(to me) episodes of SEVEN series(Lost Universe, Fushigi Yugi, El Hazard, Slayers, Rurouni Kenshin, .hack/SIGN, and Inuyasha)! I brought mangas, but it´s really hard not to just read them all at once. And the money´s weird- instead of dollars ($) there´s euros (€) which have no pennies- just two cent pieces. ¡¿ÇçÑñ€?! Okay, now I´m just showing off on this spiffy keyboard at what must be the only computer place on the island, so I´d better check out for now.

¡Ciao!

   Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz......
I am so immensely tired, and the fact thet I am using a foreign keyboard does not help. I am actually in Spain, and this is just a quick post to say just that. I brought about 14 unread mangas with me so I do not get bored (one for each day of the trip, plus two extras for plane flights). I am still recovering from jet lag, and I cannot find the apostrophe key, so everything in this post is without contractions. Oh well, I will run out soon, so that is it for now!

   !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Oh dear GOD! I'm so tired- but yet somehow so hyper!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Why this sudden energy cross? Well, perhaps it had something to do with the fact that yesterday was... SHOUJOCON!!!!

It was my first con ever, but it certainly won't be my last!!! I had to get up at 5:30AM to catch the 6:40 train to Rye at Grand Central, but man, was it ever worth it! I'll try not to go on and on, but I simply must tell about my marvelous adventure.

We got there early (about a quarter to eight), so we did a couple Cardcaptor Sakura crosswords that they had around. By the way, when I say "we," the other person I went with is my friend, whom I shall call Fluffy (don't ask). Then when they opened, we registered, got our badges (mine was #463) and gift bags, and wandered around. We later stumbled across the Consuite, where we found, as the registrar put it, "fifty screaming anime fans watching TV and eating breakfast." We ate a lovely breakfast of mini-marshmallows, and met some very nice people. We then attended the LARP (Live-Action Role Playing) Orientation, and decided to LARP. However, before we could do that, we met our friends from the Consuite, and we all went down to the dealer's room. I just about fainted dead away... I wanted to buy the entire room! While I couldn't do that, I did manage (after a looooong search) to replace my Washu keychain that I'd lost. I also ended up with a strange Saint Tail music box and a little Hello Kitty bag for my money (LARP and real).

After that, we went back up to their room for lunch, where we dined on goldfish stolen from the Consuite as well as home brought crackers(us) and bagels(them). During that time, I changed into my costume (I was a slightly makeshift Saint Tail), and entered the hall fashion contest. I didn't win, but I got a bunch of compliments, so I stayed in costume for the rest of the day. Anyway, after I entered, I returned to the room for more "lunch."

Once we were full, we went back upstairs to watch some stuff. First was Dr. Rin, about this girl with magical Feng Shui powers (or something). Next was Princess Army, which looked like a love hexagon type anime. Both were fairly interesting. After that was Clamp Campus Detectives. I'd read some of the manga, but the anime was extremely cute. Also, I managed to fall in love with the opening theme. I think it was called Peony Pink or something. (f anyone bothers to read this, and they know of the song, could they send links/lyrics? Thanks!)

I could've watched that all day (or at least as long as they were showing it), but the girls dragged us to the Gravitation marathon. And wow! I'm so glad they did! The story was fantastic, the animation was great (except some of Shuichi's expressions, which were kinda freaky), and... just wow!

Again, I could've watched all night, but I'd promised two other girls that we'd come to see their cosplay. So after a quick stop at the dealer room, where I bought a strange lock and (yay!) an Ed pin, we went to see the skit show.

Most were fairly half-hearted, but the Utena Christmas one was good. Also, the Angel Sanctuary one was really quite impressive. Once they had finished, we all (the Angel girls, Fluffy, and myself) scrambled to grab a cab that'd get us to the Rye Station in time for the 9:19 train. We all travelled back to GCT together, and wound up a simply stupendous day.

I do have a couple regrets. One is that we missed some stuff I really wanted to see, like Tokyo Mew Mew, Fancy Lala, and Fruits Basket. Those were all shown on Friday. There was a Ryo-ohki backpack that I really wanted but never got. And, after all the orientation, we never got to LARP!

But all in all, the day was fantastic (jeez, I'm running out of words to describe it!), and I'd go back and re-live it in a flash. The anime was great, the art was gorgeous, and I got a bunch of compliments on my costume. I think I'll be Saint Tail again, but with a better costume. And best of all were the people. So here are shout-outs to the residents of rm. 515 (Weekend and Jenny), who showed us around for a big part of the day, and the Angel girls (Michaela and Jen), who did great cosplay and good train rides. And of course, to Fluffy, without whom none of this would've happened.

(sorry if I spelled any names wrong)

Ciao!

   Today it begins...
Wow! I've wanted a webjournal type thing for so long. Now I've got one, and (naturally) I've no idea what to do with it. I guess I'll start by saying how excited I am. Why? I'm going to my first anime convention this weekend! Yup, on Saturday I'm off to Shoujocon in Rye Brook, NY. I can only go for one day, and I've gotta get up at like 5 in the morning to get there. C'est la vie (did I spell that right?), I simply need to have more of a go get 'em attitude, right? I'm truly upset because I'll be out of town for BAAF (Big Apple Anime Fest), but I'll probably go to Anime Next (also at Rye) in October, and the creator of Outlaw Star is gonna be there! Yay! Oh, please excuse my rambling (it's what I do best), and note that since this is my first entry, it'll be kinda long. The others will be much shorter (I think). That said, I'll try to wind up soon. Anyway, about me: I'm a girl, 16 years old, and I'm a Capricorn Fire Tiger. I've got brown hair and eyes, and I love manga as well as fantasy books by authors such as Tamora Pierce, Patricia Wrede, and Gail Carson Levine (please excuse me if my spelling is off). I'll probably be using this as a place to let off steam, rant about anime, practice my reviewing techique, and basically just ramble. But this brings my ramblings to a close for the evening (it's 6:27PMDST on this lovely and hot August Thursday, the 21st of the month), seeing as I'm using my mom's office computer and they're shutting down. Anyhoo, I'll be back tomorrow (hopefully) to ramble some more, so cya l8r!

Ciao!
