   !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Oh dear GOD! I'm so tired- but yet somehow so hyper!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Why this sudden energy cross? Well, perhaps it had something to do with the fact that yesterday was... SHOUJOCON!!!!

It was my first con ever, but it certainly won't be my last!!! I had to get up at 5:30AM to catch the 6:40 train to Rye at Grand Central, but man, was it ever worth it! I'll try not to go on and on, but I simply must tell about my marvelous adventure.

We got there early (about a quarter to eight), so we did a couple Cardcaptor Sakura crosswords that they had around. By the way, when I say "we," the other person I went with is my friend, whom I shall call Fluffy (don't ask). Then when they opened, we registered, got our badges (mine was #463) and gift bags, and wandered around. We later stumbled across the Consuite, where we found, as the registrar put it, "fifty screaming anime fans watching TV and eating breakfast." We ate a lovely breakfast of mini-marshmallows, and met some very nice people. We then attended the LARP (Live-Action Role Playing) Orientation, and decided to LARP. However, before we could do that, we met our friends from the Consuite, and we all went down to the dealer's room. I just about fainted dead away... I wanted to buy the entire room! While I couldn't do that, I did manage (after a looooong search) to replace my Washu keychain that I'd lost. I also ended up with a strange Saint Tail music box and a little Hello Kitty bag for my money (LARP and real).

After that, we went back up to their room for lunch, where we dined on goldfish stolen from the Consuite as well as home brought crackers(us) and bagels(them). During that time, I changed into my costume (I was a slightly makeshift Saint Tail), and entered the hall fashion contest. I didn't win, but I got a bunch of compliments, so I stayed in costume for the rest of the day. Anyway, after I entered, I returned to the room for more "lunch."

Once we were full, we went back upstairs to watch some stuff. First was Dr. Rin, about this girl with magical Feng Shui powers (or something). Next was Princess Army, which looked like a love hexagon type anime. Both were fairly interesting. After that was Clamp Campus Detectives. I'd read some of the manga, but the anime was extremely cute. Also, I managed to fall in love with the opening theme. I think it was called Peony Pink or something. (f anyone bothers to read this, and they know of the song, could they send links/lyrics? Thanks!)

I could've watched that all day (or at least as long as they were showing it), but the girls dragged us to the Gravitation marathon. And wow! I'm so glad they did! The story was fantastic, the animation was great (except some of Shuichi's expressions, which were kinda freaky), and... just wow!

Again, I could've watched all night, but I'd promised two other girls that we'd come to see their cosplay. So after a quick stop at the dealer room, where I bought a strange lock and (yay!) an Ed pin, we went to see the skit show.

Most were fairly half-hearted, but the Utena Christmas one was good. Also, the Angel Sanctuary one was really quite impressive. Once they had finished, we all (the Angel girls, Fluffy, and myself) scrambled to grab a cab that'd get us to the Rye Station in time for the 9:19 train. We all travelled back to GCT together, and wound up a simply stupendous day.

I do have a couple regrets. One is that we missed some stuff I really wanted to see, like Tokyo Mew Mew, Fancy Lala, and Fruits Basket. Those were all shown on Friday. There was a Ryo-ohki backpack that I really wanted but never got. And, after all the orientation, we never got to LARP!

But all in all, the day was fantastic (jeez, I'm running out of words to describe it!), and I'd go back and re-live it in a flash. The anime was great, the art was gorgeous, and I got a bunch of compliments on my costume. I think I'll be Saint Tail again, but with a better costume. And best of all were the people. So here are shout-outs to the residents of rm. 515 (Weekend and Jenny), who showed us around for a big part of the day, and the Angel girls (Michaela and Jen), who did great cosplay and good train rides. And of course, to Fluffy, without whom none of this would've happened.

(sorry if I spelled any names wrong)

Ciao!
