well sence the people who read it liked it,
here is the next part of the story.
When I awoke I was at the base of a waterfall. Shakily I sat up, and once again looked at my surroundings. Why does this keep happening to me? I’m never anywhere I know, and as soon as I get used to an area I’m somewhere else again. Beneath my head I felt something furry, warm, and muscular. Out of surprise I jumped up.
I saw Keihi in that larger form I saw earlier. "Keihi?" I asked, the large wolf nodded. I calmed down, "Keihi, did you save me?" I asked. Keihi replied with a thorough face liking to make sure I was safe. I laughed at the realization that this HAD to be Keihi. "Wow Keihi, you’re so big! Who’d have thought that this was in you?" I smiled.
The sound of the waterfall behind me was soothing along with the beautifully colored sunset. The ground was hard and very rocky, and it was very uncomfortable. "Keihi," I said, "we ought to find a place to sleep for the night. Or at least a place of safety." Keihi nodded in agreement with me and bent over gesturing for me to get in her back. I couldn’t refuse the offer, since my legs felt like jelly.
I clumsily climbed onto Keihi’s back and she lifted off into the air! "WOAH!" I cried as I held on tightly to her thick fur. I think Keihi got the idea that I was afraid because after that she landed on the ground and began to walk along the rivers edge.
We walked on for a while and the moon came out overhead. I was surprised when the moon came out, it was large and nearly full; it could be seen so clearly, unlike back home. I guess there are SOME good things about this place that I couldn’t get back home.
Suddenly Keihi stopped walking and before I could object or say anything, a gust of wind appeared in front of us. Keihi let out a deep warning growl towards the unknown thing in front of us. When the whirlwind subsided there stood a tall, charismatic looking man. He had long black hair that was pulled back into a ponytail and it reached down to about the middle of his back. He was dressed in brown fur. There was some around his head, his arms, his legs, and his waist. This made me mad it looked like wolf fur. I wonder how many wolves he had to kill to get that "nice" looking outfit. He even wore the tail of a wolf!
"Hey you" he called out.
When he spoke my eyes instinctively locked onto his face. There I could see when he opened his mouth he had fangs. And his eyes were a cold shade of blue, and his ears were pointed. "M-me?" I asked a little frightened now.
"Of course you!" he snapped, "Who else would I be talking to?"
I felt a little insulted at this but I tried not to let it bother me too much. "Well fine, you have me there." I told him, "What do you want?"
He looked slightly shocked, "Heh well, well. You’ve got a mouth on you don’t you. What’s your name?"
This made me even angrier, "Give me your name and I’ll give you mine!" I yelled toward him.
"Fair enough." The man said. " My name is Koga, I’m the leader of the Wolf Demon Tribe in these mountains."
I studied him a bit as he spoke, he had very muscular arms and legs that showed he had strength. That strength would show him as a leader, and if he was a wolf demon that would explain the fur… WAIT A MINUTE! A WOLF! My eyes light up, "YOU’RE A WOLF?" I asked excitedly.
This reaction seemed to make him a little uncomfortable as his reaction was to step back from me. "Yeah, and?" he asked.
I felt myself blush once again, "Sorry, My name is Himechii."
"Himechii huh?" Koga said as he put his hand on his chin and looked like he was thinking hard on something.
I started to look him over. He had wolf-like features but he was human-like too. I looked him up and down and as I did I could feel myself become redder and redder. It was only when he spoke I noticed I was doing something wrong.
"Hey! Hime you see something ya like?" he sounded like he was teasing but the comment was enough to make me jump.
"NO! Not at all!" I covered as I looked away from him.
I could hear Koga laughing; he was enjoying this, which only ticked me off more. I looked over at him angrily. He just stared back at me with a smug grin and twitched his tail. I don’t know why but I got the feeling he was looking at me… and undressing me with his eyes. I don’t know exactly what he was doing but it made me want to throw my shoe at him… … … and that’s what I did.
My shoe flew through the air right toward him. He obviously saw it coming and caught it in mid flight. He scoffed, "Heh pathetic human, was that supposed to be some kind of an attack? My grandpa could do better than that! And he’s 600. C’mon you can do better than that! I dare you!" he threw my shoe back to me.
After he said that he came at me like a gust of wind, and within seconds he was right next to me nose to nose. Instantly I felt my face get hot and I tried to push him away. But I couldn’t I realized then he had hold of my wrists. He pulled me from Keihi’s back, and he was to fast for Keihi to even try to get him.
Quickly Koga shifted his grip on me, instead of holing me at the wrists he had his more dominant arm tightly around my waist, while the other held my face in a position staring straight at him in the eye. I pouted angrily at him. Then I heard Keihi’s deep growl, and Koga looked back at her.
"Silence pup." Koga said in a commanding voice, "Unless you want you pretty little master hurt…" He looked back at me and had a disturbing grin on his face.
"Let me go!" I struggled and tried to push him away. But I couldn’t be free from him his grip was to strong. "Release me!" I said.
He lowered his face close to mine and our noses were touching, "It’s okay, I won’t hurt you."
I didn’t like the way he was looking at me so I closed my eyes. Please let this be a dream, please let me wake up. Then I felt his presence gone; I opened my eyes and all that was there was a whirlwind. I felt my face once again be home hot and I new I was blushing. I sunk to the ground and covered my face. I can’t believe I got so worked up over a demon. I mean… … he did have beautiful eyes. He was really attractive… I closed my eyes; the only thing my mind pictured was Koga, Koga.
I opened my eyes and Keihi was standing in front of me, she licked my face o see if I was all right. I petted her lovingly, "Thank you Keihi, good girl" I then climbed back onto her back. I felt really tired and wanted to sleep, my head felt really dizzy. I think Keihi knew this because she didn’t take me far. We only went into a nearby part of the forest and Keihi laid sown in some soft grass. I guess this was where we were to sleep. At this moment in time, I didn’t care I just wanted to sleep.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I don’t know how long I slept. But when I woke up the sun was high in the sky and it felt like it was around noontime. I was unsure of where I was, when I sat up and saw the trees and the forest, when I heard the waterfall, I remembered. I was in the feudal time of Japan, and I had no clue of how to get home. My head felt dizzy and full of water. I slowly sat up and found Keihi nearby with something in her mouth.
Keihi walked up and dropped it in front of me. It was a grilled fish. "Where did you get this Keihi?" all Keihi did as a reply was push it toward me with her nose. "Did you steal it?" I asked again. All she did was push it toward me again. She probably did steal it but… when I heard my stomach growl I really didn’t care. I picked it up and began eating it. When I looked over at Keihi she seemed happy and then turned back to her smaller self.
When I finished eating I heard a rustling sound in the bushes. Keihi’s fur began to stand on end and she growled. I had a feeling it wasn’t dangerous, so I told Keihi, "Calm down girl." and Keihi did.
Through the bushes out came a woman with long black hair. Her face looked cold and mean she had a noticeable resemblance to Kagome. Her long hair was pulled into a hair band in the back and there were two long loose strands in the front. Her eyes were cold and dark. She wore the kimono of a priestess. So I guess she couldn’t be evil.
"Uhh… … hello ma’am." I stuttered.
The woman looked at me, then over at Keihi. "No wonder I sensed a demonic presence. It was that young wolf cub. And you…" she looked at me, "You have spiritual powers inside you."
"What? Spiritual powers!! What do you mean?" this lady was crazy, what does she mean, ‘spiritual powers’ and ‘sensing demon presence’ she’s crazy.
"It seems you do not understand. Allow me to help you, this ability will aid you in the future." the woman said as she approached me hand outstretched toward me.
Paralyzed with a mixture of confusion and fear I couldn’t back away. The woman came toward me and placed her hand on my head and a warm purple light flashed around us. At first I was scared but then after I calmed down I could feel a sense within me becoming stronger and heightened. When the woman backed away it was almost like I could feel her strength in waves coming off of her, and I could see a blue and white light within her, along with a darker black all around her. "What is this?"
"I have awakened your dormant powers. Now, this should help you to live longer in this world until you can reach your home. If you feel an evil presence, I advise you to run." the woman turned and began to walk away.
"Wait. What is your name?" I called to her.
She looked back at me, her eyes looked sad as she replied, "Names are everything aren’t they? Well, I am Kikyo. I’ll explain the aura coming from me. You see I am one of the walking dead."
When Kikyo said she was dead I jumped back a little, "What do you mean? How can you be dead if you are standing here in front of me?"
Kikyo kind of laughed as she looked at me, "Do you accept this truth and do not fear me? Or do you hear this and wait to flee?"
"Well…’" I thought a second. If someone was dead how do the live? Also if she is truly dead how was she revived? Questions kept filling my head. When suddenly many long snake like creatures flew past me to Kikyo. They were all holding a glowing white orb. "What are these?" I asked Kikyo.
"These are my soul collectors, in order to carry on my existence I must consume the souls of the dead." as she explained this, she took one of the orbs from a soul collector and held it in front of her chest and then the orb disappeared, "Are you fearful of me now? Do you think that I will kill you now to collect your soul to sustain my body?"
I shook my head, "No… I don’t actually. With these powers you’ve opened for me, I can see, see that you are indeed hurt and lonely. You wish to do good for people, like you did in your life. And… you wouldn’t help me to kill me." I smiled.
Kikyo looked away from me, "You are indeed an intelligent one. You may come with me if you’d like."
I nodded and stood up, "Thank you Kikyo, I will help you in any way I am able."
Kikyo had a grin on her face that I’m sure she was trying to hide, I had just made her a little happier than she was before, and this made me happy. "And while you’re with me I will teach you the way of a priestess and teach you about healing herbs and how to develop your new powers. If you’d like, of coarse." She walked ahead with the soul collectors fallowing behind her.
I walked beside her, "I would like that very much." I noticed she had a bow and some arrows with her too. "Are you an archer?" I asked.
"Yes." she replied, "It helps to protect me from demons."
"Kikyo… if you don’t mind I’d like to lean how to use a bow as well." I figure I may be stuck in this place for a long time, and I might as well be able to protect myself if I were ever separated from Kikyo and Keihi. "Oh! And Kikyo my name is Himechii. You can call me Hime or Hime-chan, or just Himechii."
"Very well." Kikyo said as she led me through the woods.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Kikyo and I walked for a few hours and we came across a large tree that stretched high into the air there was a spot on it where the bark was uneven. "Stay here." Kikyo told me. Then she walked up too the tree. And with a slow motion she placed her right hand on the tree where there was less bark and trailed the area with her hand. She seemed sad and in a daze as she did this. I wondered if I should inquire about her actions. But when she turned around with a sad face close to tears I decide not to. "Hime we are to leave now."
"Y-yes Lady Kikyo." I said.
We walked along a nearby path; it leaded west and went up a hill. Along the road I saw a small village below. There were many people and there were rice fields, girls in beautiful kimonos and men nervously trying to talk to the pretty girls. It seemed like a kind village and it had a good aura coming from it.
When Kikyo noticed I was looking at the village she spoke up, "Hime, if you want, you can go there, but I am not welcome there. If you were to go we’d split ways here." and she continued walking. I still wanted to learn from Kikyo and I decided it would be a good idea to stick with someone who was familiar with this world so I fallowed.
Along the way Kikyo taught me about the healing properties of the nearby growing herbs, like the lantern plant that helps cure swelling, and many others. I wasn’t fortunate like Kagome who could return home and get medicine so I had to make due with what I had here. I’ll do my best.
Kikyo and I walked on and on, faintly I could feel a presence getting closer and closer the more we walked. I think Kikyo was going toward it. "Kikyo. I feel a strange presence. Are we going toward it?"
"Yes." She answered. "I’m surprised you can feel it. This demons presence is really faint. Good job."
"Thank you Lady Kikyo." I continued to fallow.
We kept getting closer and closer, I could begin to feel evil intent inside the heart of the demon’s aura. This demon was planning to kill the nearby village and collect all of the blood. Why someone would want to do that is beyond me but still we pressed on.
Finally we came across a swampy area, and the aura was so thick here I began to feel sick in my stomache and knew it had to be here. "It’s here isn’t it Kikyo?" I asked,
Kikyo replied, "Yes. Now stand back, you are not yet ready to deal with a demon of this power."
"Okay lady Kikyo." I stood back with Keihi in my arms and watched to see how Kikyo would handle this.
Within seconds out from the swamp appeared a giant rainbow colored fish! It sprung from the water and lunged at Kikyo with tremendous force. Kikyo stayed calm and the demon kept flying at her when suddenly it was pushed back by what looked like an unseen bug-err-demon zapper. The demon flew back into the water with a huge splash.
"Lady Kikyo!!! Are you okay! What was that! I mean- I’ve never seen anything like that!"
"GET DOWN!" Kikyo commanded
"Huh?" Didn’t Kikyo defeat the demon, this feeling… it’s not dead yet. Behind me I heard the demon burst out of the water and it’s deep bellowing voice,
"DAMN YOU PRIESTESS I WILL KILL YOU!!!!" and then quick as a flash Kikyo destroyed the demon with an arrow surrounded by a purple light. And the demon was destroyed, although there was still a demonic aura around.
"Kikyo, why is it that after you’ve killed the demon there is still an aura? I asked,
"Because my apprentice, the demon’s remains, still remain." Kiyo explained.
"I see the remains still have some of the demons aura within it."
"Close. Look at the body Hime. Look for the glowing flesh."
I didn’t exactly understand what Kikyo meant but I did as she said. I looked over the body, and I did see a piece near where the stomache would have been that was glowing purple. "Is that it?" I asked Kikyo pointing at it.
"Yes. Well done. Hime" Kikyo walked over to the glowing piece of the body and reached into it and pulled out a small purple jewel. At first it had an evil presence to it but within seconds it had turned good. "Kikyo? What is that jewel?"
"This, is a shard from the Shikon no Tama, the Jewel of Four souls. It has the power to grant more power to any demon or an evil human. This should not fall into the wrong hands. Hime, you hold onto it for a while alright?" Kikyo came over and handed it to me.
I nodded "Alright! You can trust me lady Kikyo!" I gladly took it from her, "I wont let anyone get this from me, human or demon."
"That’s good," Kikyo, said, "we shall be going now. It is getting dark."
"Where are we going to bed for the night?" I asked her.
"There is a fresh water spring nearby and I’d like to rest near some clean water." Kikyo began to walk ahead of me and I fallowed her lead.
