Mascots
This past weekend had to pick up things near the University of California-Irvine. I walked on the campus-- it was really beautiful with some fuschia flowering trees (for once, didn't have the camera). Took a wrong turn, and ended up at Newport Beach-- I drove around, and was a bit surprised how crowded with homes the area was-- back East its a bit different. But so lovely to see boats, and the water!

This is the second week of the new schedule-- love having much of Friday off. Whenever I have to pick up the mail, make a doctors appt-- I had to take a day off-- now I have more hours, but all the shortened days were put into one! That makes the time useable-- before all that happened was that I ended up stuck in traffic 1 h earlier.

While at UCI, I noticed their mascot was an anteater! Pretty original! My college mascot was a hardhat with feet (I wonder if it changed?) I went to RPI and the teams were known as the Engineers. (very original). What is your college or school mascot? One day I will have to find a picture of the school mascot. Well, it's Monday, -- nuff said about that. Heya, CosmicSailor, thanks for the info on the moods of the ocean! It was raining the day I took that picture, and 2 days later we had a little tropical storm.

And for my friends , another little picture from Morikami gardens:

Have a great day!

Out for a Walk
Saturday is feeling like Sunday-- that;s right .. a time rift in my schedule again. Now I work 4 full days, then 3 hours on Friday so I leave work at 1100 now on Fridays. It struck me.. woo hoo! But even after 3 h of work, I just get tired, and spent that time vegging out, watching TV. Because I had all that time yesterday, today feels like Sunday.

So, I went out for breakfast, and sat and read for a while. Then I took a quick stroll--right now the weather is beautiful, and the humidity is gone. One weekend, I try to get to the bird sancuary. There's so much house chores to be done, it seems like going on an archeological dig rather than strainghtening up the home office. Its where all the mail, and stuff goes that doesn't seem to have a place.

Besides, today I just plain feel tired and lazy...so it will probably be a slow day. And that's OK.

A picture to share for a summer day:

This was taken near to where I went for the business meeting in Florida... storm was comming in. A mellow weekend to wonderful friends!

If its Oatmeal, it must be Tuesday (or Thursday)
It's getting pretty hectic when you know the days by what breakfast is being served. I usually get in early, to try to get things organized for the day, and finish up somethings. They have a cafeteria at work, not too bad especially breakfast. It's actually a mini food court kind of thing. Today is oatmeal day-- I like oatmeal in the morning, and don't have time to make any breakfast-- gotta rush. Where do you all have breakfast, and what do you like for breakfast?

From the screenings Panda has written, looks like some interesting anime ! I wonder what will get picked up on television. Apparently, the cable companies are going to change in my town-- we used to get an on demand anime station, but the company pulled it. :( We'll see what the new one brings when it comes.

For all my friends getting the heat wave, sending you all buckets of ice!

This week they will be sending my to the little office 2x each week. There's fewer distractions, its quieter (and cooler)-- but the schedule sometimes gets very fast paced. But I think in a month I'll get used to it.

Well, a picture of a bird I found at Butterfly World in Florida-- that was a nice place to visit.:

This little guy is called a parrot finch because he's so colorful. May you find something to color your day pretty !

Lazy today
After all the heat, I am now really feeling wiped out-- still humid. It's one of those things where you keep pushing hard to get things done, but when you finally sit down, you don't want to go anywhere! So Sunday, the parrots and I just watched movies... and Paranoia Agent. (I got the discs, it is a very different anime). How about you all? How do you spend a lazy day? I was so lazy, I didn't even go down to the movie theatre.

My schedule has been so hectic I had not seen my neighbor in 2 mos! When we finally met up, she laughed and wondered if I had moved out in the middle of the night! She is a really wonderful neighbor and friend-- so we went to an Indian restaraunt for brunch on Saturday-- it was so cool inside, with delight odors of all kinds of spices. I had never had time to stop there, and its pretty close by. I know, take time to smell the roses!

The bird in my last picture was a heron of some kind-- I will have to look him up. We had a heron stop at the duck pond , and I don't know what kind it was either.

Well, here's another picture from the Morikami gardens-- called a deer chaser! Water fills up a moveable bamboo pipe that has one end sealed. When it fills up, it rotates forward making a loud klonk sound to chase away animals!

Have a great day!

The Expedition
Pack your gear-- grappling hooks and nets to go on safari-- in a most dangerous area, filled with antiquities--- yes, under my desk and in the filing cabinets. There are lots of wires from all the computer stuff, but lots of little trinkets that fell off the desk, into The Black Hole-- a small storage area under the desk Its been building for 10 years. The home office is so bad, I wouldn't be surprised to find King Tuts treasure in there (or maybe a pirate hiding under the chair) I know , it took ten years to get there--- so slowly I am tossing some things out, and re-locating other things. I found my microwave rice and pasta cooker (a small one for when I have to stay and use the standby room) There are other little things under the monitor-- a toy parrot, and very small figures of Inuyasha and Miroku. Do you have a area where things seem to get stuffed and collect without realizing it? A closet, or kitchen or garage?

I still don't know if I will move to Chicago in a year, but now is the time to start getting improvements made in my house. If I stay, it will just be nicer , and maybe a place where I can have company come over. This past weekend , the oven broke (its digital, and started beeping and stuff) and the gophers have managed to dodge the home remedies-- time to get the professional (LOL like Caddyshack!)

Picture break!...

I loved everyone's thoughts about commercials-- have to really giggle about Yaffa (just reminds me of the Yatta boys), and gotta agree about the VW commercials. I remember the old VW "bugs"-- I loved those things! They were everyones first new car-- those huge fenders were great, and they could be fixed with a bobby pin! There's a Burger King print ad that cracks me up-- as most of you know, the governor of Ca. is Arnold Schwartzenegger-- (when he gets on TV to tell up to turn the thermistat up, I still wait to see if he'll say "Turn it to 78 degrees.... or I'll be back". Bet that would work. Anyway, there's a sign on the local Burger King " So big and beefy, it could run for governor!" Gotta get a picture of that. Well, catch you all a little later... hope there's something to make you smile in the day ahead.

Commercials: Love em or hate em....
With the continuing heat, lots of TV at night. The parrots each seem to have different tastes in programs. Ramana loves opera! The beautiful costumes, and after the show is over, I can hear here trying to sing-- no words, just notes. Big Guy tolerates Law and Order, but really loves gangster movies-- he starts yelling "choo choo ch-choo!".. that's his equivalent of firing off bullets! He also ticks like the 60 Minutes watch-- we don't watch 60 minutes, but I always make clicking noises to birds.

Right now, the only thing I have been able to stick to is the furniture! Can't concentrate in the evening, and sometimes just doze with the heat. I am charmed by creative commercials, like the ones featured in the Cleo awards, but some drive me nuts! How about you all-- your faves and not so faves in commercials--- My favorite is Aflac--- the insurance company with the duck--- I love the black and white one done like an old time movie where the duck rescues the damsel in distress from the train track. One of the ones that bothered me was the older Burger King commericial with the King wearing that plastic head-- I thought those were annoying and the king's face was just creepy!

Heya , sorry for the rambling thoughts, but its too hot to run off and catch my wandering brain! But so far, no blackout where I live, although some other areas are having power failures.

Well, a picture to kinda give a cooler view:

Wishing a wonderful day to good friends! You folks are super!

WHINE !
Hard to feel creative when you are tired, and feel like your brains are turning to mush from the heat. Yensid posted a brilliant idea-- putting ice in the hot tub! The thing that has been wiping me out has been the humidity!

The house painting is finished, and its a good job. There are other things to tackle (re-do the home office etc), but I haven't even had time or energy to mount Big M's photos (though I have put all the negatives in a sleeve)-- about a year's worth of photos.. but they are spectacular .. Right now, just tired. Blah!

Well, I guess this will be a bit brief-- so I will post a picture from the Morikami gardens. This is part of a game, where the player would have to identify the differences in the pictures painted inside shells. It comes in a beautiful laquered box. I think it came from a fishing village in Japan. It was so pretty to see!

Stay cool!

Roaster Toasty Warm
Seems like the whole country is in a heat wave. Now I know what the warning was for-- temps 105-110 in areas near work... the canyons will get up to 102 which used to be rare. I hope the folks in Queens NY and St Louis get their power back.. We used to get rolling blackouts, but they did increase the electrical generating capacity for So Cal... but the heats gone up. The painter had to slow down, but he is close to completing. The house looks brand new outside... but its too hot for housecleaning, and I'm on standby-- already had to go in once. Vegatation city today....besides, there is a little odor of paint. My house is stucco, and they have to pressure spray the top layer.

Our whole block is filled with trucks for the past week. Seems everyone is getting big jobs around the house done. LOL-- getting a place to park is getting interesting.

What do you all do to keep cool? I get lots of ice for water, tea, soda, and turn on those fans. In the first apartment I had, I lived over the boiler room, and the wiring was so old that we couldn't have air conditioning/ so going to stores, bookshops, anything at all became the rule.

Some AX pictures:One of the funny things from the dealers room-- the manga money grab from Viz:

It did get very crowded, so sometimes going to workshops, or hanging around at the edges and "people watching" was a great thing to do--sometimes it was street theatre. More neat costumes"

Of course I have to include a Vash picture-- I thought this cosplayer did a great job:

Time for some iced tea. Hope you all keep cool-- this is one time where it pays to move slowly!
