Wanna buy a duck?
Well, our geese have been spirited away to a park. I miss the geese, but one started charging people, so they had to move them away. One of them loved to nibble on shoelaces and bracelets, and you could pet him, but another got aggressive, so I can understand, but their antics were hilarious. The mallards had yet another batch of baby ducks. They are so cute, following the mamma duck. They are tiny, but real determined, and they hop over the rocks in the creek. So cute! The most interesting were the Canadian geese, when they had babies, both parents walked with the babies between them. Real protective!

Thanks for suggestions for really long spikes to stand up. Maybe next year at AX--- I have anime tee shirts-- my favorite is my Spike Spiegel shirt, and then FMA and I found a Wolfwood shirt. The Spike shirt is wearing out , so I will look for a new one-- used to get them at Hot Topic, but I haven't seen any in the stores. If there's none at AX, I'll try the Internet. Since I have a lot of black slacks, and some black backgroun anime shirts, with my cameras, I could be a paparazzi! LOL-- I do love photography though.

Weird weather is everywhere-- the humidity is bad, and the rains have been bad, and this is only the beginning of the summer. OOOOh-- Mother Nature must be in a foul mood!

AX is Anime Expo, held July1-4 every year in the Anaheim Convention Center. It is huge, and very close to Disneyland. There are 24 hour showing of classic films, cosplay, and last year origami and go. I want to go to the cultural things this year. My friend (who now lives in Maine) came with me last year, but for Disney's 50th , we spent half the time at Disneyland. This year I will just be at AX.

I am always so glad to read comments from good friends. It's a great way to bridge all the distances. You are so creative, and have many interests, I learn a lot from things you say.

A little question: do you all like to watch cartoons as well as anime and what are your favorites? I really enjoyed Samurai Jack when that was showing-- it really seemed different in style. I kinda get a chuckle out of The Kids Next Door-- sort of a good satire on James Bond, and classic spy films. I think this summer will be a lot of mall walking and movies at home with the parrots. (one of them can be an awful critic--- when he doesn't like something, he squawks. The big parrot loves opera!)

That was a stone lantern from Moriami gardens-- there were several there. Here is another pictures of some flowers in one of the gardens:

Keep your feet dry! And find some shade to cool and soothe.

Freewheeling
Well, its been so hot and muggy (for California) that going to work has actually been the coolest place I could be right now. Right now I am having pretzels-- breakfast of champions--(not). I'm looking forward to AX-- I am looking forward to meeting Shinmaru and Solo Tremaine, and seeing Panda. One of the things at AX that always makes me laugh is Man Faye's antics! I am looking forward to taking a lot of pictures-- I don't have a costume at this time--- but one day I might wear a kimono to get into the spirit of things. Last year I let my spikes grow pretty long (about 4") but no amount of hairspray or gel kept them up---this year I had to get a haircut before the business trip (the spikes got totally out of control, and became a lopsided puff ball LOL!) so back to short spikes. Especially with this weather.

Well, I want to share another picture from the Morikami gardens with wonderful friends....

Weird Weather!
I think Mother Nature is on the warpath! We have been having the blast furnace heat too early-- near were I work it has been 106! We had "dry lightning " storm in the night-- hot, some humidity, no rain -- its too hot! I feel sorry for the folks back East who had drenching rains... Stayed inside because of the heat! Didn't even go down to Borders for a cool drink, and probably used up all the ice we had. And the computer was wonky, sorry I have not been online for a bit!
Well, the parrots had a ball to have that much human company. They trilled and called-- you could hear them 3 houses away with the windows closed. One on my birds is a double yellow headed Amazon-- they are smaller than a macaw, but their excited calls can be heard very far! She is usually the quiet bird, but she loved getting squirted due to the heat!

I am starting to get excited about AX-- I don't have a costume, but I might wear a kimono at some point to get into the spirit of things! Looks like work this week will be real busy , but then ANIME TIME!

How has the weather been where you live? Thanks for tips on places online to watch anime. AX always has anime running , so I am looking forward to seeing some classic and new anime.

May the day be good to you! You are wonderful friends, and I am happy looking forward to meeting folks who will be coming to AX!

Zippity do dah!
Sometimes, I have a hard time trying to figure out how things work, especially big organizations. Like (shudder) Homeowners Associations! When you need to do something, like paint the house, you have to submit a "plan", color samples, specify all little details in triplicate, and have all your neighbors sign they agree with the plan. And then wait and wait and wait for approval-- or keep submitting changes in plans until they approve! I might understand if someone wanted to make major changes, like paint the Mona Lisa on the garage door, or paint the house polka dotted.. However, all I am going to do -- is paint the house the same color it has been since it was built! I called, and was told to submit the plans in triplicate with signatures anyway. Why do this? Because of big fines! If I move to Chicago (hoping for another job to open-- I was told perhaps in a year) I will make sure not to live where things are controlled by these associations. Groan! I called my painter that we have to delay until approval-- he states that he understands (we both wanted to get this over this week-- ) Well, one anxiety is over. Suburbia in California is strange! When Big M and I first moved to California, we were greeted by the realtor who said "Welcome to the Cereal State !" Well, I am about as clueless as dirt and looked very blank. The realtor then realized she had to explain the "joke"...."Well, Califonria is the Land of Nuts and Flakes !" I have lived here for 15 years and am just getting the joke now. Actually, I fit right in! Once the house is painted, I want to hang up some anime posters in the garage-- they would be so cool. I am struggling to re-organize everything, because I am not sure whether I will be moving in a year, or not. At any rate, it never hurt to improve the place a little. (no major remodel for me! No way).

Where have people found places on line to watch anime, or find new anime? The TV channels aside from CN have been really cutting back anime broadcast! Boo hiss! Makes me want to send the Homeowners Association after them! (if you have never had to deal with the HA, be glad!)

Kuroneko: Well, everyone, if you are having any anxiety, come on in the closet! We have a full blasted party going on in there!

Jet Yeah! But don't play poker with Faye, she cheats!

Vash: DIBS on the donuts!

This is part of the bambbo grove in Morikami gardens....

Love and peace (too hot to make more biscotti!)

I would like to share another picture from the gardens with great friends....you all are really quite the best!

Whats that around the corner? (shudder)
Back into the closet of anxiety for me ! I am getting more permanent hours at work, but I will have to start driving to another office once a week, which means an additional new routine. Oh, I am not one who likes to change routines...and there's so much in trying to get things in the house fixed. It's a little difficult with Big M in Chicago. I have to get the house painted and other stuff (I am just going to do one item at a time). I get myself into trouble when I try to run around and push to get everything done fast... then everything ends up getting messed up.

Kuroneko: Hey, Mamma! Did you know that the post office has decided your closet of anxiety deserves its own Zip Code? (snickers)

Vash: Yeah-- but the donuts and cookies are in here!

Jet: And so is a red hot game of mahjonng!

I love playing mah jonng solitaire, but I would love to learn how to play with other people. I actually have a set from my mother, and I have seen there is a multiplayer game site online.

Well , I'd to share some more photos with good friends... please stop and say hi to Panda...

May all duress and pain lighten , and then fly away giving your a wonderful day.

Back Home Again
Well, back home from the business trip. It actually was a good meeting, I learned a lot, met some new people. The meeting was in Florida, and it was hot! We had some pretty bad rainstorms, but some good days too. Good thing I had a manga, because the hotel TV did not get Cartoon Network, and I did not bring my laptop because it's heavy and I had no room. Anime withdrawal is not a pretty thing! LOL

Coming back from a week long trip means a lot of catching up on everything! There's lots of mail, and laundry, and house chores. Why mail, papers and chores seem to multiply when I'm not looking is a mystery!

I found a wonderful Japanese garden and museum not too far from the meeting. There is 7/8 mi of gardens, bamboo grove, rock gardens.. it was so peaceful. It got very hot, and there were water coolers that had a little wooden hut like thing built around them, so they looked like little shrines! Inside was a museum that was featuring things related to fishing in Japan. I was thinking I wished I could have taken my friends here, because it was so beautiful. The gardens and museum had been a farming colony in the past. If you travel to Southern Florida, it is the Moritami gardens and museum near Boca Raton.

Here is a picture of the Wisdom Ring for my wise and wonderful friends!

Hoping the week brings something fun, and something peaceful!

Just a few more Minutes!
That's what I've been saying each morning recently. I just have been feeling tired, not really doing much of anything. Strange thing is I really don't feel like going to the meeting-- I used to look forward every year... though it is a working meeting, everyone wears shorts and T shirts. Lets see what happens with my anime T shirts and spikes. Though I have let them grow, and now they look like kind of a long fuzz ball! If I don't go to the meeting, if I stayed home, it would be very lonely. Big M is in Chicago but working which is often late. Well, maybe I will liven up once I get there. will make this kinda quick today , because not much else to say. Yensid-- it would be so hard to choose from the 3 kimonos, they are all beautiful!

Have a great day (but a better weekend)-- think I'll try for a catnap before work starts.

Kuroneko: DIBS!

What's in a name?
Yo, dude! A greeting that has seemed to become universal. Strange thing about the word "dude"-- nothing to do with ranches, lack of experience with riding horses (as in Dude Ranch), and also lack of gender. A guy or gal are both referred to as "dude". One morning Regis Philbin fell in love with the sound of the word, and used it every chance he got. I have used the phrase "dudette", but it is generally ignored. Just struck me funny again this morning. I am not excited about going to the meeting on Saturday, but maybe that means it will be good. Things usually can't get worse than low or no expectations (last year it rained all the time, and the expense of the restaraunts was ridiculous, and no drug stores or supermarkets within a walking distance!)

Tomorrow the birds go to the vet for boarding while I'm away. I know lots of folks have a pet sitter, but I would need to find one, then observe them handling parrots. The little parrot likes to play possum-- he goes limp, then when the human isn't watching "CHOMP!" he will bite. He used to do that to our vets assistant, but now she knows all his little tricks! Our vet is a birdie vet, but also sees dogs and cats. He has a bird there named George-- Bird George is what we call him. He and Big Guy chatter happily to each other... each seems to learn a new phrase. Big Guy loves to make kissing noises, so George now makes kisses to all the assistants. I wonder what new phrase Big Guy will pick up. So tomorrow I bring them and 1 toy each to the vet--we have nicknamed it Birdy Boot Camp since both are used to having lots of time outside the cage (they play on the tops). Do you have pets? When you go on vacation, what happens for your pets? Do they go too? It's actually quite hard to take a bird on an airplane, nevermind 2. They are domestically raised , but sometimes people get freaked out around birds.

Well, time to play : Get that paperwork before it multiplies! (I would guess Merryl would know all about that... I think Millie's reply would be "Work! I can just watch it all day!"

Good friends, have a Happy Whatever Day! Just watch out in case there really is a National Bean Day!

Total Randomness
BOING! My brain has sprung a gear or two! I am definitely today in one of those "I donwanna do nuthin" kind of moods. But one must work to do basic things-- I got my little car back, and the dealer broke my turn signals! Getting to the dealer is a big mess, and this weekend I will be going away for a week to a meeting.

Kuroneko: That sounds like routine maintainance Vash style--

Vash: what did I do now?

Jet (laughing) It seems like what didn't you do!

Vash (making face) Thanks a lot!

I used to look forward to this meeting, but my friend won't be attending, and I am not in the mood right now to do this. Maybe later in the week when most of the work is done. (beginning to feel like closet time!)

Today is supposedly an auspicious date:06/06/06
That was the lead story on the news this morning (remmeber , I live in California) And today is when we have the primaries for governor! At least I won't get any of those "vote for me" calls! To me, it is long Tuesday. Does any one remember all the craziness of Y2K? The other day I was going through old files, and found a little stuffed toy-- it was in the shape of a bug, and called Millenium Bug-- too bad it doesn't have a squeaker in it. Today I feel I could use a squeaky plushie before the work day starts.

I hope to meet up with people who are going to AX. I have to work on 6/30, but will be picking up my badge that evening. If you will be staying at a hotel and want to meet up, either leave me a comment, or a PM.

Wishing wonderful friends a good day, and hoping to be able to meet up with several of you at AX!

(can't think of a title !)
I am still smiling at CosmicSailors comments about the 53rd state of Confusion, and the backroads linking Crzy and Margaritaville. The weekend was HOT! The little thermometer was reading over 100 the whole weekend. For So Cal it was humid-- so I finally went to the movies. They have the best air conditioning in town! (I guess because there are no windows, and it is dark) I saw Over the Hedge-- it was cute... the turtle Vern and the racoom RJ are so cute they way they were drawn. Really nice job. 2 hours of blessed coolness, and a good laugh. Too hot to work on the computer this weekend. I finally brought Tomato to the dealer for maintenance, and the painter came to estimate on Saturday, a day early. So I get my house painted in mid July.

I had to rent a vehicle while the car gets maintainance. I drive a small compact, so they rented me a trucklike thingy! It is small for a truck, but not small as a compact. I am pretty short, so its a trip getting out of the vehicle. It's been kinda fun to drive though. Well, it will be better when I get my car back. This weekend I will be leaving for a meeting that will last a week. I will see if I can get some computer access. Most of the time I will have to be in meetings-- last year it poured most of the time. But today I feel somewhat relaxe, sometimes I guess I need a day to do nothing (and not feel guilty about it)---CosmicSailor, I am just about ready to join you in the state of Confusion-- but first-- do they have cookies there?

We are having an election soon and all the candidates have people making phone calls pleading for votes-- and their commercials are so bad, these guys could enter an olympic mud slinging contest. So I guess we are getting a small taste early . I wonder how bad it will get when the big elections come up in 2008! But this is a local election, and actually really important, so I will be there!

A wonderful day to wonderful friends-- stay cool!
