Do you know what's coming up....?
This morning I saw a sign posted by the market, reminding everyone that Apr 22 is Earth Day. I think this is a good thing to celebrate, so I will be continuing the Big Clean, and maybe get some plants for the yard. ( and that's plants, not Plants LOL! Though, they sure would be helpful with energy prices!) I like the idea of idea of doing something positive for the environment, because spending time with Nature is something that helps to free me from worry , and help put it into perspective. Whats your experience walking a trail, or even stopping to look at flowers. I am always totally absorbed by beautiful colors, and shapes, how harmoniously all the colors and curves of a flower fit together. Anyway, in honor of Earth Day an older sketch, but one I like:

The parrots are back home-- the little one has been making kisses-- once I brought him home from boarding, he ran around his cage kissing all his toys!

About the picture of the door yesterday-- that was taken in L. A in Little Tokyo-- I have no idea what it says, I just liked the image -- LOL One of these days I'm going to end up blushing like when I found out one of my shirts says "homeless" in Japanese!

My friends, you all so rock! When I visit your sites, I always get enjoyment reading your thoughts.Wishing you the warmth of a sunkissed morning!

Love and peace!

Just Another Day
I have discovered that having breakfast in the office does not work if you are having eggs. It seems to leave a not very pleasing aroma in the air that is hard to get rid of! LOL! Will work on uploading and sorting photos again. Including the family photos , there are 317 total to sort, have printed or upload. Not much to say today regarding any events. Just an average day , and that is fine by me. I like to be able to have time to do things one-at-a -time, and be able to put thought into it. Running around, doing a million errands makes me frazzled.

Here's to a great day for good friends!

uh oh.....ITS BACK!
Just me, back from Florida, and a bit sunburned, but a great trip. I went to Ft. DeSoto beach, and yesterday took a day trip with my sister to an island called Eggmont Key. I have been going to Ft. DeSoto for 12 years , AND I NEVER KNEW THERE WAS A FORT THERE! I took 312 pictures! (will have to start loading them up tonight, did not take the lap top with me.) Eggmont Key is an island in the Gulf of Mexico, near Tampa-- there was a fort there too during the Spanish American war, and now it is a bird sanctuary, and beautiful beach with nature trails. It is loaded with gopher tortoises! I love turtles, and these are huge, and scoot very fast. The water is light aqua, and sparkles like a jewel. It was a beautiful place, and wonderful for photography. What are some of your favorite wild critters? I love turtles, birds, and dolphins, and got to see all of them on Eggmont Key. Its back to work today-- still have sand in my shoes!

Here's a little photo I took from before my trip:

It will be fun to share some of the photos of Eggmont with you-- wished I could have taken you with me!

Love, and peace, and biscotti!

Ima Leavin On a Jet Plane.. on vacation
Well, I leave tonite at 3:00am for Florida. My itinerary is a riot-- I get there via Denver! No more direct flights to Tampa, even from Los Angeles. Song was the only carrier to do so, and they is out of business. I've packed my clothes, now for my "toys" because I have some layovers. When I sit too long, my butt hurts. Of course I will have my camera and my PDA to play mah jonng on, but I have to remember beverages, because everything in the airport is closed early, and I get thirsty. I have no plans once I get to Florida, I will just do what comes along. I wish I could pack all my friends and take you guys with me. That would be such fun! I may not be able to update too regularly, but I will certainly post Florida pictures when I come back (unless the rain follows me!) Where would you like to travel for a short trip in the US. (I think most of us would love to see Japan- I know I would!)

Love and peace!

Pippu Cola
Titles not easy today because there is nothing special about today. Monday, but could be so much worse. Still aching a little, but it's a bit better. I found my PDA in the home office, and went and bought a little mah jonng game on it. Now when I have to take flights , or wait for a long time, I have a compact little gadget to make notes, or play a game on . When you have to wait a long time somewhere, like airports, train stations, or dentist office, what do you do to pass time? Are you patient, and meditate, or do you get the "fidgets"? I guess I am in the latter-- have to have something to do where my hands are moving. That's a great thing about photography-- being able to walk about, and look for new items.

The rains have brought beautiful flowers. I have 2 scraggly rose bushes, but here is a picture of the first rose:

When it openned fully, it was a deep yellow. I'm told the yellow rose is for friendship, so I thought I would share it with good friends.

Going away on a short vacation to visit family in Florida... in 2 days. (kinda snuck up on me!)

Have a grand day!

My aching butt!
No joke on that one... I have sciatica from a back injury-- the nerve runs from the lower back to the toes. When it hurts, I feel pains in my back and deep in both halves of the butt! It gets hard to stand or sit, especially go up stairs. ::blush:: kinda an embarassing place to hurt! Oh well. Wanted to start moving more junk out of the office, but I don't think that's going to happen tonite. I've been taking things to recycling and Goodwill, so all the lifting, and long drives I think did it.

The parrots are quiet today..the one chore I did was to get parrot food. Ramana (actually the name should be Romana, but the vet spelled it wrong years ago-- so I decided she should be a dignified lady-- she has a whole name--Ramana B. Byrd! She's a very gentle bird, a little bit of a scairdy cat somes, but lovves shiny things, and grooming hair. She is not fond of spikes because they don't hang down!)

I so want to go out and take pictures, or work on the house today, but I guess I'm just going to have to cool it, and watch some anime in bed, maybe play solitaire or mahjonng when I can sit. It has rained every weekend , so the flowers look beautiful.

Question: What is your favorite flower? I love hydrangeas-- they look like snowballs on a bush.

Here's another flower in the rain...

Go out there, and really sparkle this weekend!

Finally Friday!
Not much to say other than : Friday is finally here! What's your favorite Friday fun thing to do? I have sorta been doing a lot of sleeping-- cloudy and rainy weather. But I am so glad the temperatures are on the cooler side...The little parrot this morning surprised me-- he's the "bad boy".. as I walked by his cage he piped up "Im bad boy" then made a kiss. Those birds are so funny.

Is anyone going to AX in July ? This year I want to learn to play Go, and try some origami. I am not sure about cosplay. I'm kinda short-- I guess Shippo would be a good one, but I'm not good sewing person unless I have a pattern. If you went to a con, would you cosplay? Who would you be? I have not seen Jet Black done at a con, that would be a tough one.

Question: What are your favorite shoes? Living in So Cal, I love my sandals. Birkenstocks are my fav but they are so expensive, I get the imitations. Right now I'm wearing shoes called Traps-- they have little holes in them, and are something like a Swedish clog. I love those too, but since I moved to So Cal 15 years ago, I haven't worn shoes regularly since. Oh, my! I am such a bum.

Question: Does your car have a name? Mine is called Tomato (suggested by a friend)-- and the thing is always "stuffed" usually with wool for blankets.

Question: Favorite hobbies in addition to drawing? I love to knit, but also have carved leather. Too hard on the hands right now.

Spring has sprung,
The grass has riz,
I wonder where da flowers is?

Here's what the rains brought:

A wonderful day and weekend to all!

Warm up the Cameras
Time to start serious practicing with my camera, for shooting in nights, compromised lighting. In short, get ready for AX and also a try at the bird sanctuary. To get birds, you have to be prepared and fast. It's a thrill for me to get a bird in flight. Sunday I saw a hummingbird feeding off of flowers-- he was so beautiful, but the lighting was so bad, he would have looked like a dark black big bug. When we first moved to California, a heard a loud zzzing noise and turned around to see the biggest flying thing coming at me! I tried to swat it and ran, terrified. I was thinking , what do they grow out here. When Big M came home, he laughed and said "You were trying to swat a humming bird1" I had never seen one, and the light was behind the bird, so he looked like a black bug. Some of the hummingbirds are olive green, some brown, but others shimmer-- do you have humming birds where you live?

We'll be dry today, Monday more rain... but spring has sprung. The biggest poppies are growing alongside the highways, and in places hard to photograph---I hope we get more of them. But in true otaku spirit, a cherry blossom.:

Wishing good friends rainbows in the mornings!

Raining Again (but at least it washes my car)
California seems to get all of the rain in one month-- usually March. We got a bit of a late start and over the past 2 days, Mother Nature has been throwing a hissy fit. At work, everyone who had a window ran and watched hail come down! (The last time that happened was 11 years ago!) I' m beginning to feel like:

...a bunch of mushrooms!

You know it is really going to pour when the ducks head for cover!

Well, in June I get to go to my annual conference. Its in Florida in a beautiful resort, that has incredible scenery. Here's carvings from the posts that go floor to ceiling:

The conference is so crowded this year, I have to stay a good distance away, and take a water taxi into the meetings. If I have to go to meetings, I like the kind where there are NO SUITS NEEDED!

Wherever you are dear friends, have a special spring day!

Guess I'm here for a while
Well, I was told I would have an interview, but so far nothing. I am ambivalent, so I will just take my clues from what occurs, and as is said "don't push the river". I hope anyone living in the Midwest is safe-- those tornadoes are so scary..has anyone ever seen one? For us in So Cal, earthquakes litterally only last about a minute or so.. by the time you realized one happened, it's over. We've been in a couple of strong ones, but we don't live on the San Andreas fault/ The canyons appear to be a good quiet place to live.

The birds on the high voltage wire I put up yesterday were several varieties of pigeons. Kitsune, Caprice you folks are both right-- don't look up. Well, we're getting rain again. How does it effect your mood when its cloudy? I feel a little dip with the clouds, but kinda comfy when I hear the raindrops tap on the glass.

In So Cal, the flowers don't slowly bloom, they go SPROING! Sunday, after rains there were patches of wildflowers so thick , they looked like carpets--- so beautiful. Was on standby, so when I get home, I will have a lot of pictures to get on the internet. I should have a couple of very interesting ones.

If you could suddenly be anywhere, where would you want to go? I want to be on a warm shell covered beach-- and on 4/12-4/16 I will get to do that. I am going to Florida then to visit the family! (will have to remember to get extra arare (rice crackers) for the trip. I have to travel to Denver, then change planes to fly to Tampa. At least the crackers won't get soggy!

hugs for good friends.... Time for me to "leave" for today///
