AACHOO !
Well, I wanted some extra time to read about CSS and HTML, but getting a severe cold and asthma is not the way to do it! Basically stayed in bed watching bad daytime TV .. I was too tired to get up and put disks in the DVD player. Have to do chores tomorrow, but tonite , just hide uncer the covers. For all the strange things that phones can do.. here's a little sketch: (Thanks for the idea, Panda!):

Thank goodness one can't spread germs through the Internet.. friends at work are joking I have the bird flu! My babies are American born and bred to be pets, not taken from the wild.. that makes a gentle bird who's a good companion, and spares the wild life.

Dear friends, I think its time to go watch the inside of my eyeballs, and search for the biggest box of tissue made! Hope your weekend it fun!

Love and peace!

Thanks for the suggestions.!
Somehow a good root beer float with good icecream and a tiny bit of sake sounds so interesting!! Thanks Cosmic Sailor. Today I took time off, started having a cough, should be much better by tomorrow. While puttering being getting into bed, I found some spiced tea it got in Florida from a place called "Puter cup", it was wonderful, I could finally sit and rest a bit. Found a great market not far from the house, apparently Marukai ( a japanese market) has a branch is Orange county, so I can get lovely treats (some really great crackers!) without going to LA. Well, I am going to put up some more pictures of frozen Chicago.. one is Lake Zurich with a fog of ice becase it was so cold!

Of course, can't forget the noisy parrot (she loves the phone, and can be heard about 1'4 mile when ni full voice....

   Blah!
Another day at work... but I feel like I have a ton of gunk in my chest.. I have not had any problems like that for 10 years (I have asthma) and I certainly hope that is not coming back. Today I just feel like going home, but that is not going to improve things, I am not that bad. Just feel slowed down. Meh!

Still have to deal with the gophers and garage door. Nothing big, really no brainers, but I just ran out of energy big time. I have not even been knitting, and feel asleep watching anime. Oh well, not everyday is stellar.

Hoping your day goes better than mine, because bleh is yucky. Any suggestions to get my motor started in a bleh day? How do you get out of the blahs?

Another little picture from the frozen woods of Lake Zurich.

   Comfortable Day
Well, a little surprise in the backyard the other day-- we had a bit of fog, and I saw this site on the backyard fence...

That would have been a really cute picture for Valentine's day...I did take some pictures while in Chicago. I stayed in a little town outside Chicago called Lake Zurich.. it has a little lake, and farms nearby, and even though everything was frozen and bitter cold, it was still quite beautiful. I'd like to share some pictures:

Quiet day today, sorting some pictures. What did you all do on Sunday? Also watched some cartoons-- still get a laugh out of the Simpsons, and Family Guy crack me up. Has anyone been reading Trigun Maximum manga? What manga and anime have you all been watching? I have really been enjoying Ghost in the Shell s.A.C. Gig 2-- Well, enjoy the rest of Sunday!

Its Friday!
well, its the end of the week. And that means house chores I have left waiting because I took a trip last weekend. The parrots seem to be very glad to be home, and are being pleasantly chatty. For Kitsune Tsuki, Conneryalexis, and Caprice, if you wonder about my hairstyle in the coat photos, that isn't cosplay, its the way I wear it everydad... except it was longer than usual (usually keep the spikey-bushy mess a little shorter)-- I think I'll try to do some more photography this weekend, starting to get some interesting little flowers poking up. Must check to see when the desert flowers bloom.. haven't been out there in a couple of years! Have any of you been to a desert? They are quite interesting!

A wonderful weekend to all! Another little picture from the Arboretum:

?Whaaat....
Well, my brain is just numb today. Did you ever have a day that you felt you were just sleep walking through... that just seemed to go in slow motion.. ? Today was just that kind of day for me... like I was walking through marshmallows! The garage door is still busted, but right now we have an understanding-- I won't mess with it, and it can't mess anymore with me (until I can get someone out to fix the silly thing!) Nothing significant happened, and that's OK. I guess it was a comfortable day, but now the night is here, and for some reason I am getting very anxious, over nothing... that's pretty silly. When you are anxious, what do you do to chill out ? TV is just not doing it for me tonite.. it seems my mind wants to work at something, but it doesn't know what! Tomorrow will be a busy day, which is what I am used to . I can get into too much mischief when I have time to think. Any one have any suggestions for good novels to read? I have been reading Grisham's The Broker.. there is a lot of Italian in it.. kinda brought memories of Sunday dinners with my godmother and father often speaking in Italian... my father was determined that I should learn Spanish.. he felt it was the necessary language of the future. I know only few and rudimentary things in Italian -- actually Sicilian dialect. My Spanish is very rusty.. but starting to come back , I hear it a lot in California. Do you speak a foreign language? I would like a learn some Japanese.. it has an interesting sound and rhythm. I have a little picture book that illustrate everyday things.. the neat thing is under the picture is the Japanese word, and if you go on line , enter the number of the page, you can hear someone pronounce the words in Japanese. How do you say "cool" in Japanese. Well, time to try to sleep, so I will reel my wandering brain back in . Here are the pictures of the knitted Chicago walking coat that I wore a parka underneath!

Murphy Lives!
I doon't know if anyone is familiar with Murphy's Law--"If anything can go wrong , it will do so , at the most inopportune moment, and in the worst possible direction"... and then there is the famous addition " and Murphy was an optimist !" I will post the picture of the coat tomorrow-- yes it was finished on time. But the temperature dropped real low in Chicago-- it was -11F when I landed there -- and then there was the wind. My glasses literally frosted over and froze! It was very difficult to go anywhere for most of the weekend. It was even cold in the apartment I stayed in as the winds made the walls cold, and the heat just couldn't seem to keep up. But , even spending time indoors, and going for drives in the country was good. I got to take some pictures. At a small lake, the severe low temperature literally froze the water out of the air, so there was a beautiful fog-- I took the picture but have not down loaded it yet. The planes were delayed (even coming into LA)--one the way back I was kicked and bumped by a child next to me (having nightmares I think)... the shuttle from the airport got lost! It's pretty bad that you have to give the driver directions at Midnight---

And the last huzzah was when I tried to leave for work this AM-- the garage door got stuck. We have an openner, which no longer seems to function correctly, and I think the track where the door fits got bent. It took me 15 minutes to try to pull the door down because it stuck so bad. But for all the silly things that went wrong, I still enjoyed myself. Saw some beautiful sights, and faced the challenge of photography in extreme temperatures. I used to live in Michigan, and remember when we had to tape the film cartridges under our arms so they wouldn't get brittle and shatter!

So how the did President's Weekend go? Did you all have it off? I hope the weekend went really good for you all-- you are special friends.

Love and peace! (and toffee biscotti)

Another Day
Well, another usual day is not a bad thing actually. We had enough "excitement" during the canyon fires. Saturday morning I'll be in Chicago....I haven't been there in years, so I guess this will be a little different. The goose has been trying to hatch her eggs for 3wks. When I walked by the nest, the eggs were gone but I did not see any baby geese. That's kind of sad... maybe she will try again. But in the meantimes, we have 6 baby mallards, and they are so cute! They did hatch kinda early. They always remind me of marshmallow peeps , because they are so small. Will have to get a picture of the coat up-- buttonholes made, buttons on and ready to wear.. hope its warm enought for Chicago!

And what's going on in your neighborhoods? Love and hugs to good friends!

Happy Valentines Day !
Well, I have been waiting for today to post a little picture, a valentine for my friends! So here it comes, to say Happy Valentine's Day, and to tell that your friendship and support really have grown on me:

Coming down the home stretch for the coat-- have to finish 1 sleeve and the collar. Will I make the deadline of 2/17 (fly to Chicago then )- dun-dun-dun.. stay tuned. Have you all been to Chicago? Anything suggestion for must see or do for a very short trip? I have never jnitted anything this big this fast-- I actually had to hem the coat because I forgot to compensate for the fact that knitting stretches! I will take a photograph when it is done. Once the coat is finished, I'll try some sketching again. Thanks for suggestions on programs for coloring, and a better way to resize. Today, I wanted the photograph to be full sized!

What's your favorite for breakfast? Recently I seem to have the ridiculous craving for breakfast burritos! LOL. Hope that today brings you all the warmth and friendship you all really deserve!

   knit.. knit..knit
Well, the weekend is coming (6 more hours to go-- Friday is the short day!) The coat is coming along-- I think it will be finished in time for my visit to Chicago... Hope it isn't too long. Got my bouncy shoes (squishy soles and heels-- periodically my heel hurts bad, and I want to be able to take long walks) Have you all been to Chicago before? This should be pretty interesting... and cold-- the temp there has been in the 30's ... 2 days ago it was 90 in So Cal. When we first moved here, the realtor said "Welcome to the Cereal State!" I was pretty puzzled... She then clarified " This the the home of nuts and flakes!" Despite the earthquakes and fires, California has been the best place I have lived in .. so many surprises. When we first moved here, I had to see Venice Beach-- its a hoot! Maybe I will go there this weekend. March is wildflower time in the desert.. I will have to find my photos from my trips to Joshua Tree, or , maybe go there again! I found a brochure on a trip to Death Valley-- there is a park there, and it is beautiful in its own way/ I think it would be neat to visit there!

Does anyone have advice on how to color sketches using the computer? I think I might like to color and use some sketches I have that are too big for fan art, and put them in my background. I tried to change the background picture, but the site here went wonky on me.

Thank you Kitsune Tsuki for all your suggestions!
for the advice on resizing pictures Now I am free from depending on what photobucket or my programs evil moods regarding re-sizing (that's why the giant pictures on the site-- happened since I got the new camera)

I've been thinking of changing the avatar back to my little grandma sketch--

what do you all think? Hope the weekend brings fun and enjoyment!

Love and peace!
