It's Friday !
Yay! Friday!!! The weekends coming, and I so much just want to celebrate ! Some times I just want to break out of the mold of being a responsible person, and want to just do some silly things, like jump in a puddle, take time to just sketch.. yup sometimes just break free! My good friend at work had a great idea-- we finish up today early, so she suggested maybe we can go to an afternoon matinee movie. That would be great fun! Actually I have not been to the movies in a long time. (I can hear the Peanut Gallery saying : How long has it been, Mamma? We think the last movie you went to was The Great Train Robbery by Thomas Edison!) well, blush, almost. The last movie I went to was Wedding Crashers. What was the last movie you all saw? What movie should I go to?

I think its going to be overcast this weekend, and I have to seed the lawn (my husband calls it feeding the birds, but my lawn is starting to get greener). Whenever I step on the lawn, all kinds of birds fly into my sycamore tree, waiting until I pull out a sack of grass seed-- then I heard them chirping and getting restless. It's dinnertime for the birdies!) I don't think this will be a good weekend to go to the Bird Sanctuary.. there are supposed to be some white pelicans there. I guess I'll findout some nice weekend. Gaaahh! No, I don't want to do responsible things this weekend, but , well some things have to get done. oh, well.

Here's a little photo to help celebrate a little bit of fun for the weekend:

And here's a thought to share--
The day is brought to us by sunbeams, and put to bed by moonbeams, what we do with the day is a gift to share with friends.

Happy weekend! Now, where did I put those chicken jokes!

HONK !
Well, there is a cure for the blahs I get coming to work. Traffic is slow and thick as molasses in January, and ofte there is too much to do , and not enough time to do it. Lately, I have been greeted by Fred and Freida in the morning. They are rather large geese I rescued from being "trapped" in a glass porch overhang, in the rear entrance of the building. They are tall majestic geese, with black bills that have a rounded knob so their honks really resonate. We have a large duck that really looks like a turkey that also greets me -- it pants and wags its tail. I think the poor duck is having an identity crisis. Anyway, though the traffic really gets the blood boiling (believe me, So California traffic jams are legendary!), the ducks are geese really make me laugh.

Is there anything you have come upon that has set you to laughing? I really do think it is the best medicine there is. I am really glad that there is a pond on the property at work, and that water fowl have decided its a fun place to hang out at!

Hoping that your days have rays of sunshine!

Love and peace.

This little picture of a wildflower bud reminds me of the promise of a dawn that has not yet arrived-- enjoy.

Daylight Savings Time
Its very strange adjusting to daylight savings time and standard time. The sun just never seems to be rising at quite the right time, and darkness comes a little too early. The freeways in California snag up easily, but over the past 2 days it has been ridiculour-- 2 hours to get to my house from work the other night ! Halloween, the traffic was worse! We did get to see the trick or treaters. My parrot was quiet, and clung tight to the shoulder. Maybe next year I will dress as a pirate to answer the door.

I'm knitting a blanket for my dad, so I hope I finish it before Thanksgiving-- I would like to give in to him in person. It's about 2/3 done at this time. But with the early dark nights, I just seem to get so sleepy, I go to bed very early.

Today I have a little treat-- little cookies shaped like maple leaves, and they have maple flavored filling. They were a special treat when I was a kid, and I don't see them very often.

Well, here's a recent photograph for good friends:

These little flowers were growing in back of the Borders book store by me.

A special heya! to TheMouse and Panda and Novapup! I hope that the trip is a good one, and that all have fun! And thanks to The Mouse for letting me know about the roses-- I love botannical gardens and zoos. Hopefully I will complete the new background (all the Bebop characters watching fireworks at Disney) Enjoy the day!

Peace and love!

Boo!
HAPPY HALLOWEEN! What better place to celebrate, than in So. Cal? Time to get ready for the little pumpkins to ring my doorbell. I never know how things will turn out. You see, I have parrots, and I really dont know what they will say or do...

Big Guy is saying Boo Y'All!

This little ball of green and red is the notorious Big Guy! He is a 6 inch tall little parrot, called a ruby throated conure. (They are also known as cutthroat conures, for all those pirates in the audience!)Yes, he does talk! Especially when you don't want him to! He ticks like a watch, makes kissing noises, and screams out his name when the wind blows and rain falls! He turns his head sideways and stares at us sometimes....when we watch cop shows or westerns, he makes a sharp sound like he is shooting bullets (he yells Chhoo! cha-choo, cha cha choo!). And he loves pizza! But it is my second bird who is the hoot. I have a big parrot, Ramana-- she is bashful about talking usually. The first year we had her, she had learning the moaning sound that was heard in the introduction of Mystery! on PBS! When the kids rang the bell for trick or treat, the bird made this horrible moaning sound. One parent came to our house, and told us to turn off the spooky tape that had upset his child. I told him we were not playing a tape , it was a parrot who decided it would be fun to make that noise. The man growled out "Oh yeah, like everyone who lives in Detroit owns parrots. Give me a break!" I told him to go around to the back of the house, and look in the window. He did, and Ramana promply let out a spooky moan. He came to front door and apologized. Ramana has never done that since, but she has been a star, entertaining the trick or treaters on occassion. I guess we'll see if she decides to entertain, or sleep tonite.

May there be good treats for wonderful friends, and no tricks.
Boo! And a happy Halloween. If any one gets dressed up for tonite, let me know what costume you wear.

Autumn in Southern California !
Wow, we have had cool days for 3 days in a row, with a little bit of mist for rain, and the feeling of a tiny bit of crispness in the air. People seem to have notices this new phenomenon-- they aren't rushing about at break neck speed, and sometimes briefly smile at each other in the shops. Southern California is beginning to discover some of the joys of fall. Many folks are decorating for Halloween, and there are more frequent smells of baking in the air. Fall always brought the smells of cinamon and cloves in our house as my mother used to start baking batches of her cinnamon walnut cookies. I should try making a batch in November before I go to Florida to visit my sister and dad. I used to walk around back East in the park to look at the coloured leaves-- glorious explosions of orange and crimson! That's one the the things that kept in interested in photography-- funny but most of the early photos were so muddy in colour, and fuzzy in focus!

Recently , I discovered Boba! They can make a green tea drink and put these large pearls of tapioca in the beverage-- they are sweet and chewy . I had one for breakfast today, and it sure beats the fast food type of breakfast (I usually have to get on the road by 5:30 or so, and never have time to make breakfast) I got some biscotti too, but it was not what I know as biscotti, more like Italian bread toast. Oh , well it still made for a nice breakfast.

Well, I will add a little photo to celebrate the fall: a ripe pomagranate.. consider this just a fancy apple!

I hope everyone is high and dry after Wilma blasted through, and now in the company of Alpha is travelling the coast! Warm spiced chai and biscotti for good friends.

GNO

It had been about 2 mos since we had Girls Night Out.... that is a real sad sign that things have ground into a rut for our little team, Team TRiP! Yes, that is really our work team name-- there is also Tiger Team, and who knows what other names our bosses have come up with ... what does TRiP mean-- don't really know-- I know what Tiger Team does, have no idea how the name. So much for names having a descriptive purpose. But, if I have to belong to a team, TRIP is probably the most appropriate term. We did meet for dinner, and an important question asked: Where do all the e-mails with jokes come from? They have usually been routed by about thirty people five or six times, and I guess I am curious how they get started. Chain letters-- no way, but jokes are great, I love to laugh. So, somewhere on planet Earth, there just has to be a Joke Mine. That would be a good thing to search for.

But it was so good to take a break with my friends, and then walk around Old Town at Market Night! One evening when market night is on, I'll have to bring my camera.

The book I started was The Last Juror by Grisham. Yes, I am a courtroom drama junkie in books! Well, think I will go catch the Simpsons on TV.

Love and peace to wonderful friends. Did you see the big orange full moon last night? It looked like a jack o lantern!

What plans do you have for Halloween? Will you dress up? I am going to think of something to wear to answer the door and dispense goodies--- any suggestions? (or would dressing up like a granny be too corny? )

Boing!
Well, why not open with BOING! Sound effects are so cool, I wonder if I can use a sound effect on the cell phone instead of the ringing tone. We had some big rain for about 3 days-- at work the level of the duck pond rose up to the side walk-- it is pretty funny watching a duck swim up to the sidewalk, then float onto it. Thanks for the suggestions how to get out of a rut. Somehow I never see it coming! What books are people reading ? Any favorite TV shows? I like CSI, and Law and Order....I will watch even the reruns over and over. When I have to use the standby room for nights or (shudder)weekend duty, only get the broadcast stations. So I finally got a DVD player that hooks to the TV, and I keep 2 disks in the draw-- yup- 1 Trigun and 1 Bebop. I wonder what an anime that combined both Trigun and Bebop would be like... very different I guess. What combinations do you all think would be interesting? Well, time to start the day. Will catch up on sites a little later.

I hope everyone is safe and dry, the storms seem to have hit all areas of the country already!

Love and Peace!

Boo yah!
Not much to say-- have not been able to get much done at home as work has been so busy, and recently having some trouble with connecting to the internet. I want a nice long vacation to spend time just sketching, or reading , just hanging out. Somehow can't seem to get out of a rut. What do you all do to try and break out of the boring and routine? Any and all suggestions welcomed! It feels like my brain has had a sign reading "out to lunch" hanging on it. LOL. Will try and get to other sites as long as the connection is working!

TTFN and Love and Peace to friends!

This is a picture of a bottle brush bush-- they come from Australia, and grow around here in California-- they come in red and white. There is a little bee in this one!
