picture
A momumental event, got out of bed today, figuring "OK, I'll give in and try some cold medicine"-- well, no results. GAAAAA! Oh, well, I should learn not to plan ANYTHING for a long weekend! The "home office" (the crap room) will probably always be that way. It is still cold, and the parrots are mots pset with the winds-- the big one lets out jungle calls... oh my ears!

ComicSailor-- thanks for a wonderful idea to sketch-- a dancing pickle! Maybe this will help to prime the pump! I gues this will be another day to stay inside-- got to get back to work without dripping all over! Well, not much else--- other than to thank good friends -- you all are da bomb! Thank you!

It Never Snows in California?WRNING__ WHINING PRESENT
Friday was just plain strange! Monday was 65 degrees in January (last year we had some 90 degree days in Feb). Then a blast of cold aid and it snowed! Just flurries, gone in a couple of hours, but there is was, the white stuff, not in the mountains, but around the duck ponds! The ducks were staring at it, confused. Whats this stuff? Guess it isn't hard to confuse a mallard. Love the ducks though. The cold has continued, I mean in the high 20's at night, black ice on one freeway because some irrigation pipes froze, burst, spilled the water. Strange indeed! But at least I don't have to deal with storms and such. I am originally from back East but have been in California a long time.

Just about ready to run to the Closet of Anxieties to hide__ the inteview is coming, Iam trying to remember its my opportunity too to see if what they are offering is better than I have. Choices are always tough-- and there are a lot of factors to weigh. Dad sounds like he is having some problems when we talked (medical). Just right now, I am in the longest, dryest spell--can't write, no sketching, my Muse moved and left no forwarding address. So I sit and think...BAD! Yesterday in part I found why energy has been gone, and I have a crummy virus.
OK--gotta stop the flipping whine, because in the grand scheme of things , it really is nothing.

Well, I'll go get something for the virus, watch a movie, maybe get something for lunch, Did a little in the "home office" (junk room)-- I guess this is just a keep things simple. The bills got paid and mailed-- that's the chore for the day. What do you all do when you get a virus? I don't like taking medicines, but this feels crummy-- I want it gone! I want my energy back! Well maybe Chickarina soup and early sleep is the best I can do today. It's so good to know my friends are here.

Can you hear the music?
One thing good about long commutes is the opportunity to listen to music. Today I heard some great oldies-- Hotel California. It struck me that when I heard it, I had no idea I would ever visit California, rather less live there. I have been living sandal shod for 15 years, no suits, living with palm trees. I am still a general worry wort, but very different from when I lived back East. I began to think more about the music, wondering if I had to put together songs that would be a soundtrack for my life, what would they include....Hotel California, Don't Stop Thinking about Tomorrow---what would you include in your life soundtrack? And wearing spiked hair-- would never have seen that coming....Now, some big changes may come again-- but first I will wait for my interview. But moving to the Midwest.. this could be very different....what will happen? Don't know. I am glad for my friends here-- this is pretty strange for me to think on. Scarlet O Hara had it right "Fiddle dee dee... Tomorrow is another day"

Just want to share a photo--- this is from the side of my little backyard-- my neighbors bush and tree... just a little piece of paradise I want to always be able to look at. Guess I will get this photo printed.

Kodachrome!
Driving home tonite, this song came on the radio-- by Paul Simon. It made me realize how things have changed for me since I heard this song-- most cameras are digital-- getting film is getting harder, and I have gotten to a point in my life where I went from frustrated, hating my photographs (they always came out bad), to taking a course in photography and really enjoying it! Long ago I figured-- so what's to learn, you push a button--- glad I took the course.. Big M and I plan outings around photography. Even when I don't have a camera, I try to look at things differently== for colours, and different angles.

Anime is such great art-- its one of the things that can grab my attention, and put me in another state, almost suspended from the every day. What do you get when you watch anime? One thing I recently discovered was that Yashiro Nightow studied behavioural science before he started drawing manga. That explains the complex characters! Any anime that have grabbed your attention recently or manga?

Another little photograph from the Aquarioum of the Pacific (they have a Lorikeet exhibit). Hope you enjoy it!

Just One...
Well, this weekend I'm on standby-- had to go in to work yesterday for 5 hours, the phone rang most of the night. This morning the winds were really blowing hard-- they have done so most of the week, blowly loaded garbage bins down the street like a ball of paper. But it takes 2 people to move them. This morning, I woke up really shaking-- feeling the simplest thing was too much to do, and knowing the consequence if they weren't done... I started saying " Just one-- do just one thing, then you can stop-- somehow I got through the bunch".I know where it comes from-- missing Big M, and also shaking about the interview and possible changes. Ah, but knowing don't stop the feelings-- so trying to slow them a little. Yesterday I stopped and got some dried fruit as a treat for today, and the parrots are loving it too! I'll guess we'll watch a movie a little later, or maybe Paranoia Agent (some how seems relevant to recent events, I am appreciating the dark humour a lot). I got to see Appleseed on TV-- the backgrounds are incredible, and the character art was pretty-- story was average. No Miyazaki for sure, but still some good art. Even looking a art has a calming effect.

I thought the peacock was funny too-- he did look like he was waiting for something! I love the peacocks at the Arboretum-- they are so independent, and confident! I have another picture from the Aquariuum-- I couldn't believe the colors! Well, have a good one!

Just Another Day
I like people's thoughts that New Year goals rather than resolutions-- sounds a lot more productive and positive. While I was commuting today, a radio show blared out "call in , tell us how many resolutions you broke already!" Kinda sad actually. Anyway, my challenge to managing stress came fast at work-- someone called me, presssuring me to solve a problem-- I drew a blank--but rather than catching the panic, told them I would call back. Gave me time to think, and then respond after I could breathe-- no earth shattering event, but perhaps a small step. Came home and started transferring some pictures from this vacation to internet.

Thanks for the feedback on the jJapanese pictures Big M took! Also info on Chinese and Japanese New Years. Heh heh-- can celebrate twice! Even when I don't get to post, I see or hear things that remind me of good friends here, so you are always in thoughts.

The wall is repaired, the faucet repaired, and the kitchen socket! Hooray! I'll enjoy the relative break for now!

I hope folks are relatively OK with the weather-- the storms in Nebraska looked pretty fierce.

Well, just waiting to see what new anime will surface== watching my Patlabor movies again or watching Law and Order reruns. Do you have any favorite shows or discs. And yes, for weekends, a Miyazaki movie! (yes , here's to you, CosmicSailor! Miyazaki's style really takes one away!)

I took this picture at the Arboretum, wherewild peacocks wander among the beutiful flowers. Hope you all enjoy!

The New Year begins----
Big M has been home with me-- we went to the Aquarium of the Pacific. That's in Long Beach where AX will be this year, and it is quite beautiful! The corals and anemonae are so colorful! I figured everything was plain white, but in later days I will put up some pictures. We celebrated New Years Day by walking (cameras a blazing) through the LA Arboretum, a favorite place to go, to see the orchids. iT'S a huge place, with plants and trees from all over the world. We both love photography-- Big M loves film for subtelty, I like digital (trying to learn Photoshop, and no developing cost! I make a lot of boo-boos!) Sorry been away long again, but my dad has been sick, he lives in FL, so sometimes things get intense. I will be going to Chicago again to interview for a possible transfer there. I hope to minimise how hard worrying hits me-- who knows, migh start to sketch again. 2007 has the potential of being the biggest changes in a long time, or same old thing. I just have to "let go" and "let it happen". In a way , take some lessons and just let the things unfold, figuring I'll figure it out when I get there! I hope your New Years Eve and Day were really good ones!

Did you make resolutions? I really did not make any formal ones, only an informal hope to stress out less!

I'm looking forward to any new anime, and keeping in better touch with really good friends--I tried to comment where I could.

Like a tortoise, I'm a bit slow on delivery, but here are some pictures Big M took in Japan , at the Tenonoji Gardens, and a little deer at Naru, where there are the cutest little deer. In a way, the pictures are my flying carpet, so I can see Japan too! Hope you enjoy them!

By the way , does anyone know when New Year's is celebrated in Japan and China?

A good year to all !

Traffic!
Well, the tale of little broken things continues. I am beginning to wonder if there aren't trolls lurking about (or gremlins) waiting to bust something. The faucet in the kitchen magically developed a hole at the base, then suddenly the cell phone seized up on Sunday. The place I bought it at wasn't open, and I sat sulking in Wal Mart, waiting for the Verizon store to open. Then I thought , what the heck, walked over to the cell phone spot in Wal Mart... well, Deck the Halls, the guy there unseized the thing. I wanted to dance! It keeps dropping calls (I don;t know if that's an uh oh-- I will pretend it is not), and I bought the new faucet. It gets installed on Friday. Now, if the drywall guy comes on Friday, that's my Christmas present! Working in 2 places, and traffic that taken 1 1/2 h to go 45 min-- that is driving me nuts right now! I am not even going to think about the interview in late January-- there's too many things to get broken in the mean time! LOL! Have not sketched in a long time, but then again, have not been able to take off the tool belt for a while GROAN!

This Christmas will be quiet-- Big M will be home until Jan 4. I am working on loading the pictures from Japan (I fall asleep pretty early these days-- like 7:30 many nights--- GAH! The traffic is getting to me. Tonight, think I will stay overnight at the standby room!

You all are such patient and cool friends!

The Times, they are a changin'
Sorry haven't been around, but things have started poppin again. Still have not fixed the water damage from the water heater bustin... called a contractor, and then his truck breaks down! I went to Florida in Nov for Thanksgiving to see my sis and dad. We had a "democratic T Giving"-- everyone was put to work , doing jobs they never have done! This year, I baked yams-- made mashed patties, and put a syrup wiht cinnamon and chopped walnuts, then baked em. Kept wondering how it would come out, and it was enjoyed. The best was a young friend of my bother n law, who had never mashed potatoes! My sis gave him the old masher that belonged to our mom-- then told him to put music on, and just beat to the music. He put on Nicleback and really had a great time bashing the taters! We all laughed, and had a relaxed time. Very interesting how well everything came out, and fun doing different stuff this year.

Well the winds of change are trying to rattle me again. Traffic has so snarled with freeway destruction (opps-- they call it construction) it has been taking close to 2h to get home most nights! Glad that 2 days a week, I work in the little office that's closer. In addition to trying to keep up with fixing things , Chicago called me-- the place I interviewed last May has another openning, and yes-- at the end of January, another interview. Guess we'll see what happens. Am I shaking in my shoes-- you bet! It will be a challenge to make the change, get my house ready to sell (been working at that slowly) then going 1500 miles away if I get the position.-- Funny, whenever I am worried about something, something else bigger and badder comes along! Might as well set up and live in the Closet of Anxiety!

Kuroneko:NYA! This is MY closet!
Jet/Vash: That's what YOU think!

Been re-watching my FMA discs---I really enjoyed that, FLCL, and still like the dark humour of Paranoia Agent. I've tried to watch Trinity Blood, and Bleach, but I fall asleep!

So--what are my friends planning for the holidays? Big M will be home, and just time off with him is all I want right now.

Wishing great friends the hopes of tomorrow, and a peaceful season! I will get some of the Japan pictures Big M took up and posted!
