Art as Life
There's a real unique exhibit here in the summer, in Laguna Niguel. They call it the Pageant of the Masters. Using elaborate costumes, make up and stage settings, they re-create famous paintings with actors. They really do look like the paintings have grown large and come to life! If I can find an image, I'll try to post it (no photography is allowed). I always hear life imitates art, well this is a case of the reverse.

We are having brush fires-- none near the house. There was a small brush fire on the walking trail but it was contained fast. Palm Springs is where one is occurring now. The brush fires are scarier to me than earthquakes. I have been living here for about 14 years in So. Cal. The building I work in is on some energy absorbing system, and during a quake almost nothing happened (and it was a pretty big one in the desert). One happened when I was home where stuff flew out of the cabinets-- my sensible husband was in a safe place, and brought me down just as large cans came out of the cabinets.
Last year during the summer night, we smelled smoke, and it was real scary-- during the very bad fires of October, I was on Night Patrol, and ended driving by one fire, and driving through smoke from a second. Both were about a mile from work. I never want to be any closer to a brush fire.
Well, out into the summer heat.
Panda, I hope that you're feeling better-- a gentle night of silver stars for you with warm fuzzies.
Yami Loni, I wish you a tall cool beverage, and cool lakeside spot to enjoy it, Ozy J, I wish you cool breezes and hot jazz! (Spirogyra is pretty sizzling), Milkycat-- sending you wishes for hapiness and harmony, hoping your trip returns good memories to you, Wolfy-- hoping there are enough colours for your art, Cutetanuki-- wishing you a party to have fun and celebrate,Silver Falcon--- wish I could send you some of the race cars from around here, Thrush Battersea hoping Outer Banks is just grand, Zen, I will definitely check out the art and story-- keep writing!, and I send you warm smiles. Balinese, I hope the journey brings good things. And Kamiya Usagi-- I wish you joy and many friends, hoping this is a good summer for you.

For all my friends, I send love and peace, and biscotti. If you all ever see a roadrunner (yes, they do exist) may you also have a surprise and laugh as well (they are a hoot) I'll be getting to visit sites this evening.
