Ok heres to manga! I love it, can live without it and otherwise its really good, those who havent gotten into it, put plainly, should the manga helps to convey the artist's true meaning, also in the books you get to asign who sounds like what and so on...
CLAYMORE
Good series I like this although there are some boundries between this and your normal manga, i dont know, but shonen jump saw this and even took the curtisy to mark it with an 'advanced' label, but seriously there is something different. The story goes that the world is still in villages and such and certain people use swords. Well there are monsters called yoma that can take many forms and also hide in the populations of humans by kinda like wearing one of their victim's skin. well to counteract this a yoma is captured and its blood is harvested, then an experiment to inject humans with yoma blood to create a hybrid is performed, the experiment is successful and (I'm not entirily sure but i think that only females can have this done... not sure...) they create a soldier capable of finding and defeating yomas that are in hiding in a populous. This comes with increase strength, speed, blah blah blah, but at a cost overtime a 'claymore' (as they are called but they do not call themselves this) becomes more and more of a yoma, eventually losing control and becoming a yoma entirily, instinct and all, so they have to systematically create and kill their own. Well the story is good. The art is... i dont know its kinda hard to put my finger on, but the art has something about it i dont like , but only mildly not severely. A friend thinks that all of the villagers look alike, but I can see differences which is just like a village would be. The differences are realistic, they arent drastic because in archaic times a village would consist of one or two families that would coexist and there wouldnt be much differences... I recommend it this series is bound to get good. yea Claymore does kick ass, much more ass than most mangas I've ever read. Great read, reads way too fast perhaps maybe cuz it wuz so involving, but twists and turns are coming. U learn that the organization is hiding something and a group of claymores (The claymores are ranked in numerical order of power, and like 6, 13, 17, and 49 [the exact numbers evade my thoughts atm] are sent on a death mission to get rid of them. basically claymores fight yomas which are basically supernatural monsters that prey on humans. They are able to do this by taking yoma flesh and blood into their body. Now over time the more they use their yoma powers the closer they come to becoming yoma, once they 'awaken' or turn into a literal human yoma split, they gain immense power but lose their human consciences. or at least thats wat they're told. it turns out the in volume 2 clare (main claymore of the story) lost control of her powers but Raki (a boy from a village whos bro was taken over by a yoma [they can take the form of a human in existence but the human's conscience and thoughts die] and ate his family besides his younger bro raki, clare killed this yoma and raki was booted from the village because its rumored that those closest to the yoma turn into one themselves from the shock of their fammily member being one makes them like an ultrasensitive or something... neway hes following clare) and clare returns to normal which should be immpossible... well it turns out that clare did halfway awaken and so did her comrades sent on this mission. which raises questions in their group about the real purpose of the mission and if the organization did mean to put them up against such a powerful awakened being (who by the way was a former male claymore but rumor is that they died, not awakened) why did they want to get rid of that group of claymores?
BLACK CAT
Very good, very comidical, i like this series, the main character Train (as in choo choo) was a formerly known as an assasin by the name of black cat, and he was the person who personafied bad luck (very cliche that he has a roman numeral '13 tatooed over his heart) neway he reformed himself and is now a bounty hunter aka a sweeper. well his past wasnt as far behind as he thought... either way he's now hunted by assasins from the organization he used to work for, 'Chronos', and as the volume cuts out hes about to go and fight a girl with nanytes (nano sized bots that alter her dna and overall shape...
EXTENSION
...FROM NOW ON AN EXTENTION ONTO A REVIEW WILL COME IN CAPITOL LETTERS SO IT'LL BE EASIER TO PICK OUT...
VOLUME 3-7
IN THESE VOLUMES THE APOSTLES OF THE STARS (A GROUP MADE UP OF TAOISTS WHO DRAW THEIR POWER FROM CHI WHICH IS THEIR LIFE FORCE) ARE INCREASING THEIR ROLE INSIDE THE STORY OF BLACK CAT, THEY BEGIN TO ATTACK CHRONOS SETTING OF THE CHAIN OF EVENTS LEADING UP TO THE CLIMAX, HOWEVER THE LEADER OF THE APOSTLES IS A SEEMINGLY MILD MANNERED MAN, HOWEVER HE IS A RUTHLESS PSYCHOTIC MADMAN, THAT KILLS HIS OWN MEN FOR DEFYING HIM, (STANDARD MEGALOMANIA SYNDROME) AND THEIR SEEMS TO BE SOME GROWING CONCERN TO THIS, AND I PERSONALLY THINK THAT THIS WILL AFFECT THE ENTIRITY OF THE OUTCOME. THE ARTIST IS VERY GOOD AND THERE IS PLENTY OF HUMOR AND RIVALRY AND ORIGINALITY IN THE CHARACTER DESIGN, DEFINATLY PICK THIS ONE UP, ITS GETTING GOOD.
D GRAY MAN
D Gray Man-very good manga. very good manga. I cant wait to see how this develops, it seems like it may be somewhere along the lines of as great of an ending as FMA (may it rest in peace) but still the fact that this manga is that good is saying enough. But do i ever say enough no i push my opinion (teehee). The manga starts off with a boy named Alan walker (perhaps related to walker texas ranger [ROFL jk]) and the boy was abandoned by his family after he was born because he had a severly deformed hand. However a man named Mana (this is cool but completely coincidental my name wasn't based off of him, i actually made the name deriving the relation from magiks to mana and magiks to Sorcerer and sorcerer to supernatural, so basically supernatural guardian, but mana guardian is shorter, easier, and sounds cooler) that eventually dies. when he does die Alan is so depressed and has great feelings of woe that an entity known as 'the millenium earl' appears to him, and alan wishes for him to revive mana. however theres a catch. if the person is revived, then they become a slave to the earl and he is trying to destroy the world. So after being revived the earl orders mana to kill his adopted son and wear his skin (its wat akuma do to hide). mana able to resist a small amount curses Alan for turning him into an akuma (the souls forever suffer evermore and stuff like that) then a scar-like mark appears over alans left eye that later when he learns to use it he can see hidden akuma, neway then alan's deformed hand comes to life turning into a large white plated arm that (at first) has a mind of its own. This hand destroys Mana's Form (which is basically a puppet type thing with a soul attached) and mana says thank you and blah blah blah... neway then an exorcist comes along and takes him in. and thats basically the jest of things but I'm not revealing the rest of the book so pick it up urself... dang zzzzzZZZZzZZzzZzzzzzZZZzzZzz.....
KASHIMASHI
This is a great manga its really funny but i dont no how long thats gonna last, however the manga is funny but there are some parts that a boy turning into a girl would not so easily adjust to. but nevertheless it really is a fun read there are some parts that make u laugh flat out. I recommend it for a quick read but I really don't know how good this series is bound to get, this is reltivly guilt free cuz u won't get that attached to the story, but I recommend picking it up
Love Hina
Although funny I found some of the humor a little over the top, wasn't neccesary, yet in the end the story ended it the way I expected, but who didn't? Anyway, staying true to correct spelling, I kinda wish that the story had've gone more in depth into the mini-story of sorts after the end of the actual story line. It interested me but it cut off and so ended the story.
CHIBI VAMPIRE
Although funny at parts this has an interesting storyline although the first two novels are novelty (pun) books and meant just to get you in step with the story, like a lot of comedic books this ones bound to end with the main characters of both sexes to 'get together'. Neway the story is interesting cuz the main character is from a family of vampires (obviously) the suck blood. But not her she builds it up inside her body and then injects into somebody. And then theres this thing about how vampires have a certain taste for certain people (for instance her mom likes the blood of a liar and her brother likes the blood of a stressed person) but, instead of when biting them they become an undead minion, they just get the personality trait that gives their blood a certain taste is temporarily sucked out (or Karin's case [the main girl {I love parenthesis XD}] it's injected in). Example: when Karin's brother sucks the blood of a girl whos having a stressful workplace she becomes less and less stressed. When Karin injects blood the person's mood suddenly changes to an extremly enthusiastic mood. Anyway the story good and its worth looking further into.
iD_eNTITY
This series was actually the series in this bunch of books that truly sparked my interest. The story starts out with this game called "lost saga", anyway these 3 adventurers (called 'Team Triple Threat') are playing this game and they're each master lvl players (players that have spent 6000 hours in the game {WOW} and have reached a predetermined lvl)
well every year a player has to go get their card refreshed to keep playing, this updates your appearance and can't be altered that much due to the fact this helps deter sex offenders and such. Anyway Gun (the main character and thats what his friend refer to him as in real life) goes to get his card refreshed and when you enter the place where you get scanned to refresh it you undress. He walks in on a girl as she is finishing but shes been in the cell/chamber thing so long the guy running the store forgot about her, but she doesnt mind him having seen her naked. She just smiles and walks out, leaving her card. Gun accidentally takes it home and plugs it into his computer. He goes to meet his friends thinking he's good old Roto (His online name) but instead he's a girl, and begins calling himself Yureka (I don't know if this sounds anything like Eureka from Eureka 7 {I need to finish that series}), before he logs out he looks at Yureka's stats and finds out that she herself is a master player but isn't listed amoung the 6 master players (Thats all there is). Anyway, logging off the next day he gets his card back but keeps Yureka's in case he wants to trick his friends again (Long story pick it up to find out) he then logs on as Roto and meets his friends. They say they're waiting on someone else. That Someone else is Yureka. Roto gets a bad case of silent anger because his friends beat a level while he was Yureka but won't tell him they beat it. Anyway Roto takes them back to the level to beat it again. The boss there gives Roto the chance to quesiton Yureka because it knocked out his two friends. So Roto turns on a spell that enflames the entire area attempting to flush out Yureka (she's hiding from Roto) and when he finds her shes crying. Real players can't simulate crying, and she claims that she can feel the pain of the flames. Roto belives her for the moment but still can't get a straight answer as to what exactly she is.
PHANTOM
THIS MANGA IS ABOUT A COP NAMED 'K' AND THATS ABOUT AS FAR AS HES REFERED TO, NEWAY MOVING FOWARD, THIS FUTURE IS VERY VERY SYMBOLIC IN THE SENSE THAT ITS VERY MUCH LIKE AN EXTREME VERSION OF THE GUILDED ERA OF THE 1900'S AND DECADES AROUND THAT TIME WHEN CORPORATIONS CONTROLLED THE GOVERNMENT WITH BRIBES AND ECONOMICAL THREATS. NEWAY THROW IN GUNDAM AND THIS IS WAT YOU GET, APPARENTLY THERE ARE 'TERRORIST' THAT ARE TRYING TO UPSET THE GOVERNMENT BY BLOWING THE HELL OUTTA EVERYTHING AND BLAH BLAH BLAH. HOWEVER THINGS ARE NOT AS THEY SEEM, K IN THE BEGINNING FOUGHT A FEMALE 'TERRORIST', WHEN HE WAS ABOUT TO FINISH HER OFF ANOTHER 'TERRORIST' SNIPPED HIS MECH'S ARM OF THAT WAS ABOUT TO PUMP A 800 LBS SHELL INTO THE COCKPIT OF THE ENEMY. LATER HE ANSWERS TO AN ALERT THAT THE SAME TERRORIST IS BACK AT IT, SO HE GOES TO FIGHT THE TERRORIST BUT THERE ARE APPARENTLY CORPORATIONS THAT SENT MECHS TO DEAL WITH IT. BUT THESE CORPORATE 'SHOE SHINE BOYS' ARE TO KILL ALL WITNESSES OF THEM ELLIMINATING THE TERRORIST. SO WHEN THE TERRORIST SAVES K, K HELPS HER AND FINDS THAT THE MECH SHE WAS PILOTING HAD BEEN PILOTED BY K BEFORE, BUT HE NEVER REMEMBERS THIS EITHER. WELL THE CORPORATIONS THEN USE THEIR POWER TO MAKE A STORY APPEAR ON THE NEWS SAYING HE WAS A DRUGGY THAT DIED OF A NARCOTIC OVERDOSE. WELL HE CALLS A FRIEND AND THE FRIEND COMES TO SEE HIM, BUT THE SHE GETS CAPTURED BY THE CORPORATE SHOE SHINE BOYS (CSSB FROM NOW ON) AND THEY HOLD HER HOSTAGE TO GET K TO REVEAL THE LOCATION OF THE 'TERRORIST' BASE, HE DOESN'T AND THEY BRING HER IN, WELL WORSE COMES TO WORSE AND THE SNIPER FROM EARLIER GOES TO WORK TRYING TO SAVE K AND HIS FRIEND BUT ONE OF THE CSSB GETS A SHOT OFF THAT HITS K'S FRIEND AND SENDS HER INTO A BRAIN DEAD STATE, WELL K GOES BERSERK, KILLING EVERYBODY. WELL TO SAVE HER HE BEGINS WORKING FOR THE 'TERRORISTS' THAT ARE ACTUALLY A SECRET GOVERNMENT AGENCY MADE TO DISRUPT THE GOVERNMENT THAT IS RULED BY THE CORPORATIONS AND DO ANYTHING NESSECARY TO DO SO.
Q-KO-CHAN
THIS SERIES WAS WRITTEN BY THE SAME GUY WHO DID FLCL, AND LIKE FLCL THIS HAS A LOT OF BLANKS THAT YOU HAVE TO FILL IN. THIS WAS AN OVERALL GOOD SERIES, BUT HERES THE CRAZY PART... ITS ONLY TWO VOLUMES... THATS RIGHT... TWO... SO NEWAY THE STORY STARTS OFF WITH A BUNCH OF CHILDREN IN THE MIDDLE OF A BOMBING RAID WHILE THEY'RE IN SCHOOL. HOWEVER, SEEMING AS THEY'RE NOT PHASED MUCH, IT SEEMS THAT WAR IS NEVERENDING IN THIS MANGA. AS THE STORY PROGRESSES, YOU FIND THAT A ROBOT NAME Q-KO COMES TO FIND THIS BOY NAME FURIO, THE COOLEST KID IN SCHOOL. HIS SISTER, WHOM BOTH HAVE A MUTUAL HATE FOR EACH OTHER, HAS NO IDEA UNTIL SHE FINDS OUT THAT FURIO IS HIDING THE ROBOT INSIDE THEIR OWN HOME. AT THIS POINT Q-KO IS IN HER 'HUMAN' FORM AND DOES NOT LOOK LIKE A BATTLING ROBOT AT ALL. THE PLOT IS EXTREMELY COMPLICATED SO I'M NOT GOING TO GET INTO IT. Q-KO IS EXTREMELY TIMID AND NICE, HOWEVER IT SEEMS THAT SHE WAS A TRAITOR TO AN ORGANIZATION THAT INTENDED TO WIPE OUT HUMANITY AND ALL LIFE ON EARTH, AND NOW 130 ROBOTS LIKE HER ARE FIGHTING ON EARTH FOR EARTH AGAINST THESE WIERD OCTOPUS THINGS THAT ARE CALLED NOTHING MORE COMPLEX THAN ALIENS. aS THE STORY GOES ON, MORE KIDS AT FURIO'S SCHOOL GET PICKED UP BY DIFFERENT ROBOTS, AND ONE OTHER FINDS A SMALL ALIEN INFANT WHO THROUGH THEIR INTERACTION DISPLAYS A 'MIND CONTROL' POWER OF SORTS (ITS NOT REALLY THAT EVIDENT UNTIL LATE V. 2). WELL Q-KO FEELS LIKE FURIO IS USING HER TO SHOW OFF AND INTIMIDATE PEOPLE (HE ACTUALLY OPENS THE 'COCKPIT' OF Q-KO TO SAY 'HI' TO HIS FRIENDS IN A SORT OF WAY BEFORE BLASTING OFF TO FIGHT AGAIN) SO SHE WON'T LET HIM PILOT HER. BUT THIS IS WHERE WEIRD OCCURENCES START TO HAPPEN. WHENEVER FURIO GIVES AND ORDER TO ANY ROBOT BESIDES Q-KO THE IMMEDIATLY FOLLOW THAT ORDER INVOLUNTARILY. ANOTHER THING IS IN V. 2 AA-KO, THE MOST POWERFUL OF THE ROBOTS THAT ARE IN ALIANCE, LOOKS A LOT LIKE FURIKO (FURIO'S SISTER [AGAIN THEY HATE EACH OTHER WITH A PASSION]), AND YOU FIND OUT THAT Q-KO HAD SHOWED UP SOMETIME EARLIER AND GIVEN GENETIC MATERIAL TO FURIO'S AND FURIKO'S MOTHER. SOON AFTER THEIR FIGHT, FURIO APOLOGIZES TO Q-KO FOR THE WAY HE'S TREATED HER. THEN SOON AFTER THAT FURIO AND FURIKO GET INTO A FIGHT USING AA-KO AGAINST Q-KO, WHICH ALL IN ALL SHOWS HOW MUCH OF A SEVERE I WANT MOMMY FOR ME COMPLEX SHE REALLY HAS. (SHE ACTUALLY BLAMES FURIO FOR THEIR MOTHER NEVER BEING HOME WORRYING ABOUT HER (FURIKO) ALL IN ALL SHE CHASES HIM UNTIL HE HIDES, BUT WHERE HE HIDES HE JUST RANDOMLY ATTACKS THIS ANNOYING GUY WHO KNEW WHERE HE WAS AND FOUND HIM. AND THAT ABOUT SUMS UP ALL I SHOULD REALLY TELL YOU... IT MAKES NO SENSE UNLESS YOU READ IT, THEN YOU CAN START TO SEE THE BIGGER PICTURE IF YOU READ IT 3 OR 4 TIMES.
TSUBASA rESEVOIR cHRONICLE
(THAT IS THE LETTERING OF THE TITLE, NO MISTAKES [EXCEPT MAYBE SPELLING]) THIS IS A GOOD SERIES BY CLAMP, THAT LADIES THAT DID CHOBITS, XXXHOLIC, AND MANY OTHERS. I LIKED BASICALLY EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS SERIES, THE PLOT, THE CHARACTERS AND THE ACTION MIXED WITH ROMANCE AND MYSTERY. THE ONLY THING THAT I DIDNT LIKE (BUT IS COMPLETELY JUSTIFIED IN SOME CASES) IS THAT THE STORY GOES BETWEEN WORLDS, AND IN EVERY WORLD THERE IS A DIFFERENT SAME PERSON AS THERE IS IN EVERY OTHER WORLD (LIKE U WOULD BE THERE BUT U WOULD HAVE COME FROM A DIFFERENT WALK OF LIFE) AND IN SOME CASES THERE ARE COMPLETE DISCREPENCIES THAT AREN'T NESSECARY TO INCLUDE (OR AT LEAST ITS NOT YET EXPLAINED). FOR EXAMPLE, ONE OF THE CHARACTERS, NAMED FEI (THE NAME IS PRONOUNCED BY RHYMING WITH 'EYE') MADE CHI (ROBOT/COMPUTER FROM CHOBITS) IN HIS HOME WORLD WHICH HE LEFT BECAUSE HE WAS GOING TO GET CHASED BY THIS BADASS DUDE ONCE HE WOKE UP...
NEWAY THIS IS A REALLY GOOD MANGA AND I WOULD SUGGEST IT.
.Hack//sign and the legend of the twilight bracelet
This is the manga version of the anime, although I'm not entirily sure which one came first. Beggining the review, I like this but it isn't one of the best, I will say that its pretty good. The one thing that i didn't like is the anime and the manga have completely different routes to reaching the end of the story. The manga introduces the 'child' of aura. The anime takes the main hero's sister, Rena, hostage inside the game by hackers unleashing unbeatable monsters that trap people consciences inside a 'void' and shugo sets out to defeat the hackers and an evil alter ego to aura. However in the manga its compoetely different. Different but still worth a merit for a buy or borrow.
PEACEMAKER
This is the story of a young boy whos mother and father were murdered by swordsmen (i cant remember if it wuz samurias or not...). So having a vendeta he decides to join a local sword gang to help him get revenge. However in order to join he needs to prove himself to the gang that hes capable. However he tends to overdue his 'proving' and ends up pissing ppl off... but he always ends up doing something to keep everybody from killing him.
I recommend the series its good, however watch out for peacemaker kurogane, i wuz a victim there and thought that maybe they changed the cover but they didnt so read just plain old peacemaker first.
Maburaho
This manga is ok... its not labeled as to wat type it is so i dont know if its a shojo or wat but the manga was preeeeety plain... (refer to my anime review of this b4 u count this out!!!) there were some parts that made u laugh but not quite enough however i have only been able to get ahold of volume 2 so it may get funnier by then, so if u cant get ahold of the anime by download or cant get it via purchase then i suggest u pick up the manga, but u may still pick it up
Van Von Hunter
Zomg this is a freakin funny mangwha (idk if thats spelled rite or not). Neway the story goes that van von hunter is a hero that saved the world by taking down this 'flaming prince' guy who has the ability to crush anything in his hands, but thats it... van von
hunter sets out on a journey with an amnesia striken side kick that has the attention span of a mouse under the assumption that they're going to save the world. However they got their 'quest' from a piece of paper slid under van von hunters door. This story involves so many parodies and so many jokes that its hard to count. For example: a necromancer (female and scantily clad) has an arrow shot at her (she doesnt know this). This arrow was shot by 'the world's greatest marksman' and before shooting at her remarks that a quick shot to the heart sould kill her and her minions. However the necromancer has a flashback (for no apparent reason and it also has no effect on wether or not she survives this arrow) and the arrow strikes her armored bra type thing, and just before the marksman and his assistant r eaten by zombies, the assistant remarks "bloody hell the womans half naked and u hit the one piece of armor she is wearing!"
if u love comedy then pick this up omg u will laugh at least 20 times!
Buso Renkin
This is a really good manga, by the second book it already has u wrapped into a chase for the cure for one of the main characters.
It starts off with Kazuki Mato, in a warehouse kinda looking onto a situation in which a girl is going to be eaten. Well just as she is about to b eaten he wakes up and beats his friends up with his self taught karate. Well that day he goes to school and his teacher is being a total dick so he gets afterschool det. in which he has to pull the weeds in the courtyard. After doing so his teacher approaches him but Kazuki is attacked by his teacher which transforms into a huge cobra-like homonculus which proceeds to try and kill him. Then the girl that saved him the nite b4 calls him and says he can use his kakugane to kill the snake. Of course severe confusion ensues as Kazuki has no idea wth shes talking about... but needless to say he kills it and blah blah blah... neway later Kazuki and tokiko (the girl that saved him) are fiting other homonculi (?) that r nesting in the city that kazuki calls home, when tokiko is struck by a homonculus core (a parasitic lifeform that attaches to a human and takes over the brain transforming the host into a homonculus at the cost of their control and they feed on other humans) on the stomach. Fortunatly tokiko has about a week before she becomes a homunculus and can fite for a little bit. However if they dont find the cure in time she becomes a homunculus and becomes exactly wat she was hunting for so long. I'll leave u with that cliffhanger there cuz i wouldnt want to ruin the story for u now would i... or would i?... idk just go buy it, download it or w/e
