Story
Once upon a time, it was the end. The world was overflooded, the polar ice caps, gone, and men and women and children clung to life on anything floatable in the massive currents. And there, standing atop a mountain, with all the animals in the world, stood five singular human beings; they knew the world was to end, but not like this. Not yet. And all they could do was talk and think and dream.
The tallest one, a male, spoke first.
"I wish we could've saved them."
The shortest one, also a male, responded.
"Fin, they didn't listen."
"Yeah, Fin, they just laughed at us."
A third, a female, walked toward the conversing Fin and second fellow.
"Bobby's always right, you know."
"I know, Nat."
"Natalia."
"Whatever, Nat. I still wish some of the others could come."
"But Elijah did, and I think Jacob is somewhere on the mountaintop, with Delilah and Sal."
"Well, I guess it's okay they came, but...but..."
"But you wanted more?"
The fourth, also female, stood by her lonesome, and the others looked upon her.
"Yeah, Liz. Exactly."
"Then why didn't you do anything?"
"I did! I told..."
"No one cares for the words of children, adolescents, and elderly folk. If a parental unit was to speak of it, they would be considered crazy, insane, whatever you want to call it. Get smart for a second, huh?"
"But, Liz..."
"No more speaking! The raptor is here, and nothing could stop it; if God chooses to take us away, or to strand us, let it be. Let him decide our fates."
"Hey, where's Bill?"
Liz pointed to a spot a few feet away, and a shape curled into a ball was softly sobbing.
"Bill..."
"Let him be."
Lightning struck, and glimpses of what the people really were came into view. Instead of humans, though, they seemed to gigantic and morphed animals! The one called Fin was what seemed to be a hawk, Bobby, a dolphin, Liz, a mole, Natalia, a rabbit, and Bill, a lizard. This was not much surprising, though, in the world of Animen. Not in...
