Put up a few new pics. Nothing special, just a couple of doodles. I've been doing some realistic stuff now, but theOtaku doesn't take that sort of stuff, so if you want to see it, you can always go to my deviantart account:
http://insertrandomnamehere.deviantart.com/
There's some things there that aren't here, and some things here that aren't there. I don't know how or why I differenciate which belongs on theOtaku, which on Deviant, and which on both... but for some reason I do. ^_^;

School.
Not much to say, really. I don't even have anything new to submit. I guess it's just one of those "updating for the sake of updating," or just the fact that I'm really bored, putting off homework and feel like writing. So I'll talk about school, so at least I'll be THINKING about the work I'm supposed to be doing. A little easier on the conscience. XP
First I've got my art class, which is going pretty well. We had nude models for the first time this week, which in the case of the guy was highly disturbing, and even with the girl I was mildly uncomfortable. It's hard to get used to drawing naked strangers. I still like the class though, even though I'm not learning much (I really believe you can't "learn" art from anyone- it's all observation and practice) but it's making me try new materials and draw more often.
Then is my Shakespeare class. I'm somewhat disappointed in that class. It was supposed to be my "hard" class, and my advisor and professor told me I might want to reconsider since I was a freshman, but it's amazingly easy. Maybe it's because I've always been good with Shakespeare, but I swear all my professor does is repeat herself all day. She gives us a study sheet before each test, and takes the test questions right off of the study sheet.
Then I have Algebra, which is so much a joke I don't even show up anymore except for tests.
Next is Acquisition of Knowledge, cutely dubbed "AOK," which is a philosophy course I have to take for the Honors college. It's pretty boring, because we're reading "Plato's Republic," which is god-awful. I HATE that book. Thankfully we're almost done.
And my last class is a music class, which I'm beginning to realize I don't really belong in because I'm not at the level that the prof assumes I am. I was tricked into it by the Honors Dean, who said it would be "easy and relaxing." Bah.
And that's it. And I only even go to class twice a week. How am I considered a full time student? Each class is supposed to require three hours outside the class, but that's a lie. I get maybe and hour's worth of homework tops.
I mean, I enjoy school, it's just a little too easy. And I realize I've just spent this whole entry complaining. I do that WAY too much. So sorry for being such a negative person, I'll try to be bright and happy next time.

BACK!
Well, I'm back! Because of hurricane Jeanne, my electricity went out Sunday afternoon, and wasn't restored until Thursday afternoon. It's been a very frustrating couple of days. And I missed my internet so.

I didn't enter the contest because I really didn't want a Ghost in the Shell poster, and I figured I'd let someone else who might actually WANT the poster get it. But man, the winning entries were less than I expected. I don't really want to read an essay about anime and Western/Eastern views regarding it (it sounds too much like school) or a typical "what are we here for?" thing that kind of meanders around without making an actual point. Where's all the good writer's on this site? Or do none of them want Ghost in the Shell posters either?
I'm sorry to sound so critical... writing is the one thing that does that to me. I've been a bookworm since I was young, so I flatter myself by saying I have a pretty good idea of what qualifies as "good" writing and what does not.
Anyways, I'm rambling. Maybe I'll add write deep and philosophical here someday anyways.

Oh boy...
I just saw the new contest thing on the front page. The most philosophical/thoughtful post? Are they trying to challenge me? My fingers are practically itching.
The only problem is I have absolutely no desire for a Ghost in the Shell poster. *Sighs* Maybe I'll give it a try, just for the whole increased traffic thing. We'll see.

I'm in love!
Yes, I have finally found my true love... woodless graphite pencils. What, you thought I meant a boy? Pssh. I pick art supplies over guys any day.
Anyways, I bought these woodless graphite pencils yesterday. I've been wanting them ever since I saw them in Asheville last winter, but none of the art stores aound here seems to have them. I finally found them while getting art supplies for my class at a store close to the university. At that time, I was nearly broke and couldn't buy them, but finally they are mine! Bwahahahaha!
They're SO nice to work with. They're so smooth, and you never have to sharpen them or worry about them breaking, and they shade so much better... *drools* I've been drawing all day. So far I've done three attempts at drawing Gackt (one turned out crap, one is unfinished, and the third turned out quite nicely) two Jack Sparrows (both unfinished, one because I don't like the way it looks right now) a Sanosuke, a Sesshoumaru, and an Inuyasha chibi. Just wait until I get access to a scanner. ^_^ I haven't spent so much time drawing in months! I'm really happy.

I'm such a hypocrite...
I know, after that rant about online quizzes... but this one is just so _cute_!

I've decided I hate online quizzes. They don't really tell you anything about yourself, except what you happen to be feeling at that particular moment. When I take them, everything depends on my mood. Which explains why I get such conflicting results. They get annoying, because they're so predictable. I mean, for an Inuyasha quiz, "What weapon do you use? :Bow :Sword :Boomarang etc." As if you couldn't tell what you're going to get.
Why am I wasting time ranting about dumb quizzes that no one takes seriously? I... have... no idea. Lack of sleep, methinks.

Manga
Lately I've realized that all that manga I've downloaded from scanslation sites is coming in handy for wallpapers and the like. Because they're in black and white, it makes them more of a challenge to work with, but I like how they're turning out so far. That's why you've probably noticed a lot of Full Metal Alchemist and now, Hunter X Hunter stuff. I get tired of using the same Inuyasha or Kenshin pictures that everyone else has, so I use the manga pictures no one else does.
