BaH....
Okay. I'm stumped. Writer's block again!!!!

I asked a lot of people in my class if I should kill off my two characters in my Fanfiction, Separation. So far, there are five kill offs, and seven leave them alives. I need to know your opinion, too.

And another killing off thing... I'm writing the summary of my novel in my *fanfiction notebook* and I can't decide if I should kill this one guy off (no, Nee-san, I've already decided I would kill

that

guy off...).

I went on an Uchihacest rampage yesterday...

And despite my efforts to save up money for a new game system, I spent $26 on the book fair at school today. I just finished one book a few minutes ago...Yeah, I'm a bookworm...I think...

I won't post the next chapter until later, when I think I can summon up the energy. Yes, my moods are down no matter what they say in ShinobiLegends!!!

Ever had your mom/dad burst into the bathroom when you're

still

using it? Sucks. Now I can't lock the door because the lock is stuck. Man.....

Ah, well.

Questions of the Day:
1 - Do you like the catchphrase Dattebayo or Believe it?
2 - Do you like the catchphrase 'yeah' or 'hmm'?
3 - Should I kill off the two characters in my Fanfiction or now?
4 - Should I kill off the character in my novel?

Itachi~Quiz

Randomness...
Well, I'm just posting to gasp and say...OMG!!! NARUTO MIGHT DIE IN THE FOURTH MOVIE!

That trailer is only 14 minutes but it reveals a lot. It shows Naruto and a lot of dark purple figures (Akatsuki?) attacking him...Naruto's headband falls off, and then the scene switches to a lot of Naruto's friends gathered around a gravestone with a headband that looked disturbingly liky Naruto's hanging on it...in the end you hear Sakura scream "NARUTO!"......

It freaked me. The trailer said: His fate has been sealed. Is final breath...END!!!!

Ack, well...

Meh...
Random questions:
1) Do you think Naruto's gonna die?
2) Who do you think the purple figures are?
3) Do you like Uchihacest?
4) What would you do if Naruto ends?

Itachi quiz!
How much shorter is Itachi than his father?

During recess our Gym Teacher told us to go back into our classrooms in the middle of recess and rumors immediately started flying about a shooting in Edison High and in our school...th(pathetic...) girls in my class started crying. We were eventually forced into singing happy birthday to the girl in my class that was crying whose birthday it was today. It was only a threat, nothing to worry about.

Here's the Second Arc!

~

Ripped Heart –ItaSasu and Team Seven –
Sequel to Separation

Chapter One – Encounter -

A peaceful day, the sun was shining in. A class of newly made shinobi were sitting impatiently in their seats, fidgeting pre-teens glancing at the door, awaiting their sensei. Iruka finally emerged from the door, carrying the list – the list that held their future for many years – the list of the new Genin-Chuunin teams.

A boy with blonde spiky haired sat up immediately, then flopped back down in his slouching position when Iruka-sensei began explaining more about the ninja life. None of the students were listening except for a bright girl with cherry-blossom colored hair. They were all too eager to figure out who was going to be stuck with whom. The blonde boy started adjusting his forehead-protector, rocking back and forth in his chair, and drumming his fingers on the desk in front of him.

Finally, Iruka-sensei began calling out the teams. The blonde was only going to pay attention if he announced his name. For the first six, none of who he was concerned with was in them. At last, “Team Seven! Uzumaki Naruto!” The boy named Naruto jolted up from his slumping stance, lifting his head from his hands. “Haruno Sakura!” Naruto smiled with glee. He glanced over to the pink-haired girl named Sakura, who (this time) didn’t seem to mind much. She and Naruto were good friends this time around. “Ichiro Yuudai!” the quiet boy in the corner just sighed, his gaze settling wearily at Naruto. Naruto stared back at him with worry – he was a good ninja, but he won’t even speak if his life depended on it.

Sakura beamed up at her friend that was sitting next to her, who smiled back. Then she became instantly consumed in an argument with the lazy-boy beside her, Shikamaru. The pink-haired girl that was now of Team Seven, now glanced up at her other friend, Hyuuga Hinata, the shy girl of the class. She knew about her crush on Naruto, and right now, she knew that the poor Hyuuga girl must, well, be crushed because she wasn’t on Naruto’s team.

But things brightened up for the Hinata. She was landed in with two of her minor crushes: “Team Eight! Hyuuga Hinata! Inuzuka Kiba! Aburame Shino!”

The bickering two (Ino and Shikamaru) had their worst fears confirmed. “Team Ten! Yamanaka Ino! Nara Shikamaru! Akimichi Chouji!” Ino started going into a tantrum about how she was stuck with two losers and Sakura giggled. She knew that Chouji was a nice guy, and Shikamaru was dependable when it really counts.

The teams now met with their sensei. Team Seven was yet again stuck with Hatake Kakashi as sensei. Kakashi explained the rule that only three teams get to really become Genin and the others would be sent back to the academy. Naruto started an outburst about how it was totally unfair. Kakashi was able to calm him down that time.

The next day, Sakura and Naruto both arrived at the designated area, but Yuudai and Kakashi-sensei was no where to be found. Both plopped down on the ground, waiting. At first Sakura and Naruto were patient, but after half-an-hour passed, they both started yelling at the wooden posts as if they were Kakashi. Sakura started whining about how she was so hungry because she skipped dinner that night, but Naruto was upset just because he ate half a ramen bowl and how much he longed to finish it. Kakashi arrived about three hours later, explaining how Yuudai had been involved in an accident of wandering aimlessly into the forest, and never returning. Sakura asked what would happen because there was only two of them left – Naruto asked if he could have some breakfast before they began training. Kakashi ignored the blonde-haired idiot and now explained that Team Seven will go on. He also added that the Bell Test will go on, too.

“If you don’t attack with the intent to kill, you’ll never get these bells away from me,” he stated as if he had recited those words ten million times. Naruto and Sakura nodded, and then they started the Bell Test.

~~~~
“Nii-san, I’m going into the village…is that alright?”
“Uh, sure. Be careful.”
“Don’t worry. I will!”
~~~~

Naruto was whining on the post, while Sakura was busy eating her food. She didn’t get the bell, though. Neither of them did, but Kakashi let Sakura eat and he ruthlessly tied Naruto on the wooden training post. When Naruto asked why the white-haired sensei just said that women should be treated with respect. The blonde-haired Jinchuuriki repeated those words continuously under his breath in a mocking voice.

“Why are you tied on the post?” a young voice said out of no where. Sakura squealed, the chopsticks flying out of her hands and nearly falling onto the ground. A pale hand grabbed the chopsticks and returned it to the surprised girl. Sakura looked up and saw a slightly pale boy, with raven-colored hair that was slightly spiky. He had calm, dark blue eyes. He was wearing a navy-blue shirt and white shorts. He was taller than both of the two Genin members of Team Seven, but there was something about him that told Sakura and Naruto that he was the same age as the two.

“Who are you?” Naruto yelled rudely. Sakura wasn’t paying attention to the idiot tied onto the post. She was staring dreamily at the boy that just appeared in front of him. Naruto began to look at Sakura then the mysterious boy, changing his gaze back and forth between them like he was watching tennis.

“Oh…I’m…well…” the boy mumbled.

Sakura seemed to break out of her dream world. “H…hi! I’m Haruno S-Sakura!” She said. Her voice seemed slightly high-pitched. It was obvious that she was embarrassed, but Naruto couldn’t see why. It was just a boy. Was that a big deal? Naruto’s mind just came to hormones.

“Oh, you’re name’s Haruno Sakura? That’s a nice name…I guess that’s because of your pink hair?” Before Sakura could reply-

“Yeah, yeah,” Naruto yelled aloud. “My name is Uzumaki Naruto-sama, future Hokage!” the reckless boy started laughing so loud that Sakura had to punch him to shut him up. The raven-haired boy seemed to note that Naruto was named after fish cake, which was usually placed in ramen.

“Well…my bro-” the now uncomfortable boy started.

He was clearly going to say the word ‘brother’ but he suddenly stopped. Naruto began nodded intently, wishing for him to continue. “Yeah? You have a brother? What’s it like? Older or younger?” Sakura glared at her spiky haired friend. It was rare for him to make a new friend, though the reason escaped the cherry blossom girl.

“He’s older,” the boy said, laughing slightly. “He’s about seventeen now…My name’s Sasuke.”

“Sasuke?” Sakura sat up. “There was an ancient hero ninja named Sarutobi Sasuke! I guess then that you’re a…shinobi? Are you?” Sasuke shook his head. Naruto spat on the ground for some reason. “You aren’t…? But you’re reflexes are really fast and you appeared here so silently that I didn’t hear or sense you!”

“I did!”

“Shut up, Naruto,” Sakura growled menacingly. “Do you have a surname?”

Sasuke opened his mouth to say something, but he shook his head again. “But…my Nii-san taught me how to move so quietly. He sort of trains me. By the way, why are you tied to the pole?” Sasuke stared inquiringly at Naruto.

“Ehehehe…This is part of my training!” Naruto announced, trying to sound heroic. His stomach all of a sudden began to rumble loudly, making Sasuke blink. “It’s nothing!” Naruto yelled, spying the concerned look in his new friend’s eye.

“You’re hungry aren’t you?” He exclaimed. He turned to Sakura. “Why don’t you untie him? You’re friends, after all, right?”

“N-no!” Sakura shook her head. “This is part of his training. If I untie him…he’ll get mad.” Sasuke blinked, not understanding her, but he turned around, facing Naruto. He picked up a kunai lying on the ground, and, holding it correctly, he cut the ropes that was binding Naruto to the wooden post. Sasuke was probably expecting for Naruto to yell ‘I’m free!’ or to say ‘thank you’ but the now freed boy had a look of shock and fear.

“What’s wrong?” Sasuke asked.

Sakura seemed to squeal again and Naruto picked up the ropes and tried helplessly to tie himself back to the post. Clouds of thunder and lightning gathered above them, and only above them. Kakashi appeared, towering above them. Sasuke blinked at the man. Kakashi seemed to be ready to say something until he spotted the raven-haired Sasuke.

“It’s his fault! It’s his fault!” Naruto was chanting, unaware of Kakashi’s pause. The dark clouds disappeared, the sky returning to its sunny, clear glory.

“You’re…?” Kakashi started. Sasuke shook his head quickly, and he suddenly dashed away with incredible speed, disappearing from view.

Ah...well...

Chapter Five – Running –

I always have this premonition that I was going to lose something.

~The Place Promised To Us In Our Early Days.

The sun was barely rising as the alarm clock of Uchiha Itachi rang through the air. Itachi, out of anger and frustration of being awakened so early in the morning, practically destroyed the machinery by banging his hand impatiently on it. “Damn,” he muttered to himself when someone began to bang on his door. Itachi groaned, not exactly a morning person. The real morning person was…well, Sasuke.

“Itachi, get up! I just received news that your ANBU squad is being dispatched early for an important mission!” Fugaku’s annoying voice now disturbed the usual peaceful quietness in the Uchiha house.

Itachi said nothing in reply, but sat up and got ready. All his regular ANBU supplies were already sitting in a bag near his bed. Itachi casually walked out of the his bedroom, glancing at Sasuke’s room that was directly across from his. He walked over, and snuck a glance into his younger brother’s room, and gently smiled to himself, Sasuke still sleeping peacefully on his bed.

Itachi shrugged off the feeling that something bad was going to happen, and continued to walk off. Mikoto had the warm breakfast lying on the table, but Itachi didn’t even glance at the food. He wasn’t hungry. Not today, for some reason. He refused to even look at his mother – it was her fault that Sasuke was miserable.

Fugaku was staring at him like he expected him to sit down and eat, or break out in laughter, but Itachi didn’t. He ignored his two so called ‘parents’ and impassively walked out the door, hoping Sasuke wasn’t upset that he left the house so early. Itachi heard Fugaku and Mikoto quietly speaking to each other, trying to keep off the verge of arguing. Mikoto was saying something about Sasuke not going to the academy anymore. Fugaku was just listening.

Itachi knew that the fact of Sasuke not going to the ninja academy would break his heart, but he expected that his younger brother already knew that. Because Mikoto was going to a regular non-shinobi village, Sasuke wouldn’t have a chance in the ninja career. It was too bad because the younger Uchiha was for once rapidly improving.

The ANBU squad leader Uchiha shook his head, taking off for the meeting area of his ANBU squad.

-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-

The coast is clear, he thought, as he grabbed his things and jumped out the window. The two adults in the house were too immersed in their conversation that he could stealthily sneak away. No one would notice him.

No one would care.

-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-

Orochimaru was on the move that was what Sandaime Hokage-sama had said. It was up to their ANBU squad to just find out what he was up to. Why a thirteen-year-old’s squad, no one knew, but the Hokage simply said that he felt that Itachi would be capable enough to get the information and get out of there without anyone getting hurt.

Still, the reason the Hokage was sending them out with this mission was because they weren’t certain of Orochimaru’s plans. Itachi heard about this Legendary Sannin, knowing that he betrayed Konoha, trying to find key to immortality and to learn every jutsu in the universe.

The squad was setting out, Yoshiro staring at him with his usual worried look. Itachi still had that premonition that he was going to lose something. He just couldn’t put his finger on what it was. “Stop,” Itachi commanded. The other three members of the ANBU squad immediately halted, their gazes on their leader, awaiting orders.

“What is it?” asked Yoshiro quietly when Itachi stayed silent for a while. Itachi seemed to break out of his trance and nod.

“Ah…uh, nothing,” Itachi murmured, shrugging indifferently. Yoshiro nodded and followed his leader, exchanging anxious glance with his fellow teammates. After a long silence of jumping from tree to tree, Yoshiro spoke up, concern filling his voice.

“Are you sure you’re okay? You’re still acting kind of…upset and…” Yoshiro earned an irritated glare from his leader and he didn’t say anymore. Itachi sighed, staring out into the distance in front of him. “Well, just tell me, are you alright?”

“Yes!” Itachi growled in agitation. Yoshiro seemed taken aback, but didn’t say more for another long while. It was then when Itachi paused, a sinking feeling somehow engulfing him. Something was going on. He just had to figure out what. He slowly turned around, facing his ANBU squad. Yoshiro opened his mouth to ask him what was wrong, until he saw his leader pull out his sword, pointing it directly towards him. “I do not want to kill you. Just leave me alone and you will all get out of this alive.”

“N-Nani?” the three other ANBU Black Ops ninja gasped. “What’s going on?” Yoshiro stood up for the other two ANBU shinobi. “Why are you turning against us all of a sudden?”

Itachi felt like just running over and separating their heads from the rest of their bodies, but he held the impulse back. He had more important things to do. Itachi just stood there, staring at them in the eye for a moment. He had another impulse to use his newly earned Mangekyo Sharingan, but he again resisted. Finally, he mustered up all the courage – and the thought of being a probably criminal – he took off, leaving his teammates confused.

Right when Itachi thought he could get away from Yoshiro and the others without rousing up a fight, he heard them yelling behind him and dashing after him. It turned out that Yoshiro was the only one that was following him while the other two went out to alert the Hokage. “Itachi-san! Stop!” Yoshiro yelled at him. Itachi closed his ears to him, his heart intent on finding whatever was missing.

He now had an idea of what was going on. Itachi had did not know if this feeling was true. Itachi had that premonition…that the thing he was going to lose was nearby, he could feel it. He could sense its presence. If only he knew what it was. Ahead of him, he heard a rustle of leaves, and Itachi felt a surge of excitement. It was now, or never. He had to find that source.

Itachi glared behind him, Yoshiro still persistently following. Even though Yoshiro had been a shinobi for a far longer time than the Uchiha, he wasn’t faster. Itachi also had his highly developed Sharingan, which predicted Yoshiro’s movements. He looked back ahead of him, his eyes now set on that bush that rustled only a few seconds ago.

He spotted something. Raven hair, appearing behind that bush. Itachi fully recognized that hair – it slightly spiked up at the back, making an abnormal hairstyle. “S…Sasuke?” Itachi whispered to himself. He completely forgot about the ANBU ninja trailing behind him. He had a sinking feeling inside himself. Why was Sasuke away from home? Fugaku and Mikoto weren’t around, but he had a bag that looked like it was packed with clothes. He was now convinced that Sasuke was indeed running away – and that his premonition of losing something was focused on him.

“Sasuke!” Itachi yelled, but the yell didn’t come out that way. It was more of an uttered murmur to yourself. His fist clenched around the sword, but as he did so he realized that he would probably look like a threat: dashing towards someone with a sword in hand. Itachi swiftly sheathed the sword.

The raven-haired boy was only a few yards away, Itachi’s eyes entirely focused on Sasuke. Yoshiro was right behind him by now. The Uchiha turned around and glared at the ANBU member. “Go away,” he hissed more menacingly than he meant to. He had to make this quick; Sasuke might’ve gotten away.

“Itachi-san, please, reconsider!” Yoshiro barked. “We do not want you to get hurt or anything…so please, come back to Konoha, now!”

There they go again, treating me like a little kid,

Itachi thought irritably. “I don’t care! Leave me alone!” Yoshiro opened his mouth to say more, but Itachi lost his control – that shinobi got on his nerves a little too much. Itachi decided that it was time to test out his Mangekyo Sharingan. “Mangekyou Sharingan!” Itachi muttered. It was too late for Yoshiro. He had glanced at his former leader’s eyes a little too long. It was only a moment until he began to scream as loud as he could. The angry Uchiha began to fear that Sasuke would hear the cries of the ANBU member, and turned on his heel, much to his relief to find that Sasuke was still there, not noticing him at all, but covering his ears, huddled against a tree.

The older Uchiha dashed over as quietly as he could, but not silent. Sasuke jerked up at the sound of Itachi moving through the thick bushes, and stood up. The younger Uchiha started darting away, but Itachi was faster. The Uchiha possessing the Mangekyo now heard other Konoha ninja behind him. He turned around again for a brief moment, using the Tsukiyomi again to stop them. Itachi turned once more, rushing towards his oblivious younger brother. It was silent now, except for the fatigued heavy breathing of both Uchihas in the forest.

Sasuke! Was what Itachi wished to call out. He opened his mouth to cry out his younger brother’s name, but nothing came out. Never before had he felt like this…it felt like he was chasing his life, his hope of summoning up all the might to live. It seemed like it was slipping away. Itachi never had felt so weary before, so weary, in fact, that he might just pass out right there and right now.

That sight of Sasuke kept him going.

Itachi wanted to cry out Sasuke’s name, but still, nothing would escape his lips. The raven-haired Uchiha ahead of him seemed to have endless endurance. It was either that, or both Uchihas’ exhaustion was wearing down at the same rate that both of them weren’t advancing or avoiding each other.

Finally, Sasuke just…stopped. He stopped and seemed to be gasping intensely for breath. He was leaning against a tree, clutching his stomach. Sasuke was apparently experiencing the feeling of running too much than usual. Itachi sighed a sigh of relief, overjoyed that Sasuke had stopped.

Sasuke looked up, and saw his older brother dashing towards him. He seemed afraid at first, not recognizing him. He squinted, but it didn’t help at all. Itachi still ran over to his resting point at full speed. “N…Nii-san?” Sasuke panted, gradually rising from his tree. Sasuke couldn’t say anymore until he felt that warmth that was his brother, hugging him. He closed his eyes, nearly letting tears fall out.

Itachi’s voice halted him. “Sasuke…don’t ever, ever do that again. Don’t run away.” Sasuke looked up questioningly at his older brother, still too frightened to say a word. The young Uchiha shook his head.

“Sorry, Nii-san. I was just…I was…” Sasuke found himself at a loss of words. Now, he felt those letters in his mind place themselves together, forming words, which instantly formed sentences, which almost immediately flowed out. “I couldn’t take it anymore. I felt so…It’s okay, Nii-san. I’ll be fine.”’

“…If you’re running away, then,” Itachi seemed hesitant for a split second, but after that he seemed completely sure. “I’m going with you.” Sasuke was about to let his jaw drop in surprise, but he compromised by hugging his brother instead.

“Okay. It’ll just be you and me. No one else.”

For a while, the two of them stayed there, not saying a word, but keeping the feeling of warmth they had toward each other. Sasuke felt something wet hit his messy, raven hair. He lifted his head when another ‘raindrop’ hit his head. It wasn’t rain at all.

“N-Nii-san…” Sasuke whispered. “Please don’t cry. Please don’t cry, because you don’t usually cry and that means whatever is happening must be really sad…” Itachi shook his head, wrapping his arms around his innocent, younger brother.

“Nothing’s sad,” the weeping Uchiha told his younger brother. “I’m just...happy.”

~

Hope you liked it. I loved this ending, but the next ending of the next arc would be better...I think.

The English Dub is weird...seriously. Naruto's voice is weird. Speaking of Dubs and Naruto, the new manga isn't gonna come out until tomorrow!!! T/.\T

Well, I'll give you a sneak preview of the next chapter:

“Why are you tied on the post?” a young voice said out of no where. Sakura squealed, the chopsticks flying out of her hands and nearly falling onto the ground. That's it. It's kind of obvious who the boy is. Hehehehe...

Sigh....
Ah, well. Life is hard and then we die ^/.\^'

This day couldn't get any normalerer. If you didn't know, I'm planning to become a novelist when I grow up so in my *Fanfiction notebook* (in which I put all my Fanfiction summaries before they go on the computer) I have the novel's summary...I stopped somewhere around chapter 15 because of the HORRIBLE! writer's block.

And now its contagious and I have writer's block in all that I write...meh.

Since tokyopop is doing me no good, I just might post my ItaSaku story here. Forbidden Love - ItaSaku -. Sorry if you don't like the pairing but I was inspired by my friend XxItachixAileenaxX.

I have writer's block on that, too, so don't expect that here anytime soon.

Anyway, here's the next chapter of Separation.

Separation - ItaSasu - Chapter Four - Confession -

The tears dissolve the last block of ice in my throat. I feel the frozen stillness melt down through the inside me, dripping shards of ice that vanish in a puddle of sunlight on the stained floor. Words float up.

Me: “Let me tell you about it.”

~Speak
By Laurie Halse Anderson

“You asked me a hard question, now it’s my turn,” Sasuke said timidly. Itachi now looked intent on the question, though sparks of nervousness were spread across his common expressionless face. “I said that you really…” Sasuke hesitated again, hating to say the word love again. “…cared for me. Now I ask if that is true.”

It was Itachi’s turn to act ultra nervous. It seemed like a first for his older brother (Chalk another one up for Uchiha Itachi’s now three weaknesses). “Please answer me. I answered you, so it’s only far.”

No, it isn’t. It wasn’t fair for me to ask you in the first place, anyway,

Itachi’s rebellious thoughts.

It’s not fair. Your inquiry is much harder than mine.

Really, just answer! I brought up the guts, can’t you?

Sasuke’s rebellious thoughts.

It really isn’t fair! All you have to say is yes, or no! It’s LOVE I thought you understood everything!

Both of them are in complete thought.

“Sasuke,” Itachi spoke up. Sasuke attentively listened. “I…” Itachi put on some sort of a pained smile, but continued. “I do, why wouldn’t I?” He sounded totally different than himself, like he was forcing the words out, but Sasuke expected that he sounded like that to Itachi when he confessed.

Nevertheless, he believed him all the same. “Arigitou, Nii-san,” Sasuke said, a small grin flickering across his young face. “Maybe Kaa-san would let me stay. I really don’t want to go, even if it means staying here with Tou-san.”

“Y-Yeah,” Itachi, again appearing tentative. There was yet another awkward silence, where, coincidentally, both Uchiha brothers said out loud, “We’ve really got to stop talking like this.”

The two of them (yes, Itachi) broke into laughter.

The door opened and the two brother’s joyfulness immediately dissolved as Mikoto and Fugaku entered the house, staring skeptically at their sons. Itachi especially now looked totally ashamed of himself for even letting out a bit of emotion. It was too late though. He already had convinced himself that he wasn’t going to let Sasuke go. Not after this.

There was yet another silence, except between the distant four of the Uchiha family. Itachi was staring at the ground, Sasuke’s eyes fixed on his mother, Mikoto still staring at Itachi with shock, Fugaku glaring at Sasuke as if he was the one who forced his usually impassive son to laugh for the very first time in his life.

“We were-” Itachi started before Sasuke broke in, his voice sounding hurt.

“You both need to give him a life!” The younger Uchiha scolded. Itachi stared incredulously at his younger brother clearly shocked at his sudden outburst. “He’s doing the best he can; won’t you give him a break? Do you expect him to be living like he’s an emotionless doll for the rest of his life?”

It was only then when Itachi understood what Sasuke was trying to do. The raven-haired seven-year-old was standing up for his rights to have emotion? That thought echoed in his head. It sounded entirely wrong, that someone, or more specifically, Sasuke, had to stand up for his rights? Uchiha Itachi’s rights? Itachi knew that he was old enough to handle and stand up for himself, but he seemed perfectly fine – he wasn’t that blank, was he?

Mikoto’s eyes snapped back to her younger son, her shock changing from Itachi to Sasuke. Itachi glanced at the raven haired boy and he saw that Sasuke was on the verge of tears. Just seeing that Sasuke was in pain was bringing something new to his heart. He now forgot everything about his future plans about killing the clan to get power – he forgot that it was really he who killed Uchiha Shisui to obtain the Mangekyo. Something new was welling up in him, and it was fully determined to get out. Itachi was willing to help it.

“Sasuke, I’m okay. Don’t worry about me. Don’t cry,” Itachi lightly whispered into Sasuke’s ear so that neither Mikoto nor Fugaku could hear him. Fugaku’s gaze now went to the older son, the expression of disbelief pasted tightly with super glue on him.

Sasuke seemed soothed by his older brother’s words and the brimming tears disappeared. Itachi smiled gently, but the grin disappeared when his gaze turned to his two gawking parents. “What is it that you want, now?” Itachi growled, all kindness from his voice vanishing.

Fugaku grunted something in reply, and walked away. Mikoto stared at the two brothers with last incredulity, and strode off, not even glancing back at them. Sasuke stood on his toes to whisper something in Itachi’s ear: “I don’t think that they care about us anymore…”

Itachi believed that, but he said something else, just to make sure Sasuke doesn’t completely lose hope in his recently oddly acting parents. “No, they’re just worried. If you want, you can go outside. The snow slightly subsided so-”

Sasuke vigorously shook his head. “Let’s just talk a little more. As I…well, we both said, we’ve got to stop talking like that.” That brought a smile back to his older brother’s face.

~~~~
After he talked with his older brother a little more, Sasuke felt that the bond connecting them grew incredibly stronger, much stronger than before. He was grinning and humming to himself, happy for the first time in that month. Sasuke wished that it would stay like that forever – just him and Itachi, nothing in the world disrupting the peacefulness that they shared. The young Uchiha walked into his room, his joyful thoughts disturbed by the sight of his mother, Mikoto, packing some of his things.
“Kaa-san, are you packing?” Sasuke muttered ever so quietly. Mikoto glanced up at him, not saying a word, but she nodded all the same. Her attention swiveled back to the packing. The happy feeling that was lifting his once heavy heart disappeared, replaced by the memory that it was impossible. He was moving. There was nothing he could do about it. “Do I have to go?” Sasuke cried aloud, again tasting the painful salty tears that were erupting from his eyes.
Mikoto again didn’t say a word. She somberly nodded, this time not even glancing at her young son. Sasuke felt irritated at her – he couldn’t believe that it was she who was the only one that understood him before. Now…Itachi replaced her completely. It was an odd feeling, the feeling of having relatives fighting over you.
Sasuke desperately wanted Itachi to win.
“Why?” Sasuke roared, the anger that he kept usually bottled up for Fugaku exploding at his mother instead. “I don’t want to go! Don’t make me! I won’t!” Mikoto again somberly shook her head, Sasuke blind to her difficulty of keeping silent. Sasuke began a tantrum, plopping down on the bed and practically screaming his head off, flinging the weapons called words at his mother…and hopefully, if Fugaku was listening, his father, too. Sasuke saved all respect he had now for his older brother.
Did Itachi know this?
Sasuke paused, to see Mikoto’s reaction. To his surprise, Mikoto was now turning on the waterworks, tears streaming down her face, too. Sasuke at first felt some kind of pity for her, but it evaporated when he again spotted the bags that she was packing. Even without his permission, she would move away. Did she even think a bit about him?
“Sasuke…I’m sorry, but…I don’t want you to follow the same path as your brother…please, don’t!” Mikoto cried, burying her face in her hands. Sasuke didn’t understand at all. All that the young Uchiha ever really told his mother was that he wanted father to acknowledge him. That was true, but there was a feeling that he wanted something more. He wanted Itachi’s acknowledgement.
“What are you talking about?” Sasuke scowled at his mother, trying to sound calm, but his compassion for her was slowly rising.
“You…I don’t want you to become a shinobi.”
Sasuke clenched his fists. How could she say that? She knew that he always wanted to become a shinobi…why back down now? Sasuke opened his mouth to say more, but Mikoto added on, “It’s too hard…I don’t want you to suffer all the burdens that shinobi handle! It’s…it’s…”
The young Uchiha began to understand, but his heart remained with his brother. He was planning to keep it that way. Now, Mikoto was just trying to lure him back, right? Sasuke struggled to believe that but the sight of his mother…suffering because of him, almost gave him a comeplete change of heart.
“I know that it’s your dream…but I don’t want you to die…”
The word dream made his mind pivot back to his brother’s side. It was his dream. And was Mikoto’s care for him that weak that she wouldn’t let him die a noble death? Sure, it would be painful but he knew that being a shinobi meant that you wanted to protect those precious to you, right?
“Please…you’re much too young to be going through this!”
Again Sasuke was torn away from his brother’s side. He was young. Even though Itachi handled those things with ease, Sasuke had to admit he was no Itachi. He ran back to his mother, fear filling him. Now that she mentioned it, the young Uchiha did want to live…he was afraid of death. As much as he admired Itachi and wanted to be like him, Sasuke had almost full doubt of himself. It now seemed impossible that Sasuke would be able to catch up to such genius.
He was going to have to decide. He couldn’t just stay here, scampering to his brother and mother every time he had a change of heart.
Sasuke stayed silent, staring at his mother. Mikoto stood up, walking slowly away. Sasuke watched her progress as she disappeared from sight. A thought ran through his head. The troublesome thoughts that came through him disappeared, and Sasuke faced a realization. He sat up, his gaze settling on the already packed-up bags.
Just for you to know, this is not going to where the Naruto series are going. Itachi is NOT going to kill the clan in this fic! ^/.\^ Hope you enjoyed! The next arc is Ripped Heart...after chapter five, kay? okay.
~
Oh, well. Here, I'll post a few questions:
1) If you're a writer, do you ever get writers' block?
2) What is your favorite pairing in Naruto?
3) Itachi - Love him? Hate him? Or just okay?
4) Ever heard of the book Speak? (the quote before my story is from that book)
Okay, my moods will be up sometime!
Ookay, weird.
Life is weird. Seriously. I was totally bored, so I typed down the Naruto names on the computer, like www.(narutocharactername).com to see what came up. I didn't type naruto.com because that would be the English Dub's Naruto official site, so...yeah.
Guess which one was www.itachi.com? something about ferrets...Sasuke was a forum about naruto, Sakura was something weird...I didn't get it...
Kiba was something about traveling and if you like Tales of Symphonia Kratos' was something about cars...
Most of them were in Japanese, though...I know a little.
~Here's my Fic!~
Chapter Three – The Talk –
“We need a place,” she said. “just for us. It would be so secret that we would never tell anyone in the whole world about it.”
~Bridge to Terabithia By Katherine Paterson
“Sasuke…do you hate me?”
Sasuke flinched at the inquiry. Itachi had been asking that to him a lot lately, but he usually doesn’t say anything, trying to hide the fact that he ultimately adored him and wanted to be like him…He knew that the good thing to do was to say, ‘of course not’ but when he tried, his mouth became so dry that not a single word was able to come out.
“Really, do you hate me?”
It was like he was begging me real answer, the real brotherly feeling that we have toward each other.
Sasuke looked away from his brother, attempting to be inconspicuous, but of course it wouldn’t work, seeing that it was only the two of them in the house.
“Sasuke…please answer me.”
Now he really is begging. What should I say? Should I answer or not?
“Sasuke…”
“Um…Nii-san…I…” Sasuke started to stutter when Itachi sighed. The young Uchiha began to wonder what was going on with his brother. The genius weasel had been acting very…peculiar lately.
“You really must think that I’m pathetic right now,” Itachi looked down upon his younger brother.
Sasuke vigorously shook his head. “You’re not pathetic…” the prodigious Uchiha stared down at him with disbelief. There was an awkward silence between the two brothers, but Itachi suddenly felt Sasuke hug him closely. “You’ll never be pathetic! You’re the best older brother any kid could as for! Why would I hate you?” Sasuke was shocked at what his mouth decided to blurt out. He never even thought of saying those words, but there he was, confessing his brotherly feelings toward him.
“Sasuke,” Itachi mumbled, pronouncing the ‘u’ in Sasuke even though it’s usually silent. The younger Uchiha looked up expectantly at his older brother, obviously asking for him to tell him something. That something was a total mystery to the both of them but Itachi sighed, saying, “A…Arigitou, Sasuke.
“Don’t thank me…It’s what brothers do,” Sasuke told him truthfully.
Itachi stared at him in another one of his blank expressions. This time, though, his face wasn’t completely blank. It seemed like he was utterly confused. “It’s what…brothers do…?” Sasuke heard him whisper to himself under his breath.
“Yeah!” the raven-haired boy insisted. “If you don’t believe me, take me for example. I don’t hate you.”
A sad expression ran across Itachi’s face, but it disappeared as quickly as it came. Sasuke was the one confused now – Itachi, his strong older brother, seemed to be having some sort of trouble with his emotions.
Maybe now, because I’m moving away he can’t keep his usual calm composure…
“I swear I will never ever hate you.” The words slipped right out of his mouth as if they were riding down a smooth, slippery slide. Sasuke wanted to clamp a hand over his mouth right then, and stop himself about ranting on about things that even he never really understood.
“You…swear?” Itachi said so inaudibly that the young Uchiha had to lean closer to him to hear him. Itachi wasn’t acting like himself anymore – nor did Sasuke think that he was ever going to.
“I swear,” Sasuke promised, again his body moving on its own accord. Why the hell was he cursed with a body that could move on its own but will never be able to accomplish things that he wanted to do?
For the first time in a while a smile came to his older brother’s face.
“Just…” Sasuke continued, finally regaining control of his rebellious muscles and bones. “Promise me that you’ll never leave me.”
That was what he really needed the most.
“Alright. I promise,” Itachi said those words after some hesitance, but Sasuke was glad that he was able to get the words out…Usually Itachi wouldn’t lose to such emotions like these – promising wasn’t really his forte, especially since he frequently broke it. Chalk one up for a weakness of Uchiha Itachi. But, since Itachi regularly broke his promises, Sasuke had a feeling that he wouldn’t be able to keep this one for long.
But the young, raven-haired boy had faith in his prodigious older brother.
Sasuke hugged Itachi feeling that warmth again.
Does Nii-san even know…that he feels so warm?
Usually, Mikoto was the only one that had that warm feeling to her, but she lost it; making it seem like it was transferred to Itachi. Sasuke believed that it belonged to him.
“Nii-san…” Sasuke said after a long moment. Itachi didn’t say anything, but he just went on. “You do know…that you feel really warm.”
“W-what does that mean?” Itachi muttered, again not understanding. Chalk another one up for the weaknesses of Uchiha Itachi.
“You know…what I believe…” Sasuke was hesitant for a reason. He wasn’t very comfortable when he was alone with his older brother, especially now of all times. When he was alone…with his brother…and confessing everything. “…when someone is warm to me…that means that…they really…love me.”
There was a long, totally uncomfortable silence after Sasuke’s explanation. It didn’t make sense to the older Uchiha, nor did it make sense to the one that spoke it. Still, Sasuke said it through his own will, and that…frightened the older, extraordinary, brother.
“Sasuke…” Itachi brought up all the strength in his heart to break the unbearable hush. “You know…when I asked if you hated me, and when you didn’t say anything, I was…afraid that you hated me. So I kept asking, hoping that you would say something different.”
“Now you know that…I can never hate you,” Sasuke told him gently. Itachi seemed to relax right then, and Sasuke did, too. “We’ve really got to stop acting like this around each other,” Sasuke confessed, chuckling.
“Y-Yeah,” Itachi still uneasy.
“But, Nii-san.”
“Hm?”
“You asked me a hard question, now it’s my turn,” Sasuke said timidly. Itachi now looked intent on the question, though sparks of nervousness were spread across his common expressionless face. “I said that you really…” Sasuke hesitated again, hating to say the word love again. “…cared for me. Now I ask if that is true.”
It was Itachi’s turn to act ultra nervous. It seemed like a first for his older brother (Chalk another one up for Uchiha Itachi’s now three weaknesses). “Please answer me. I answered you, so it’s only far.”
No, it isn’t. It wasn’t fair for me to ask you in the first place, anyway,
Itachi’s rebellious thoughts.
It’s not fair. Your inquiry is much harder than mine.
Really, just answer! I brought up the guts, can’t you?
Sasuke’s rebellious thoughts.
It really isn’t fair! All you have to say is yes, or no! It’s LOVE I thought you understood everything!
Both of them are in complete thought.
“Sasuke,” Itachi spoke up. Sasuke attentively listened. “I…”
~
I ended it that way, so I have to be fair right now. Meh....
And if you wanted to know, Itachi's blood type is AB. ^/.\^
My sister is watching Zabuza vs. Kakashi. It's weird...
Ah, well. I didn't do anything in school today, and there was nothing, yesterday. In shinobi legends I got married just recently. I'll tell you who tomorrow. I'm just adding a little suspense to my sister!!! Unless she reads the news...
I'm officially starting my report...I think. The noise of the TV blazing Naruto is distracting me. Man...
Oh well, see you around!!!
Okay, life...boredom...a one shot and the next chapter.
Man, today was weird. My sister and I were working on our projects that we kept putting off for a long time and then our father calls us up...when we come up he suddenly says, "Go get a cone and have some ice cream." What's up with that? I couldn't concentrate with the ice cream so I'm looking up stuff for it as we speak...type...whatever.
Well, this one shot was supposed to be put up on Easter, but I'll just put it up, now.
Happy Easter!
“Nii-san, wake up! Up! Wake up!”
“Ugh, Sasuke, what is it, now?” The ten-year-old Itachi sat up and rubbed the fatigue away from his eyes. The room was dimly lit with a bit of light coming in from the window. Itachi stared at his five-year-old younger brother, Sasuke. He had an Easter egg in his hand, and he seemed to be clutching it tightly. Itachi groaned, still wishing to spend all day resting for the upcoming Chuunin Exams that his sensei kept pestering him about.
“Nii-san, there are a lot of eggs outside! Lots of them! They’re all so colorful!” Sasuke held up the egg in his hand to give proof to his observation. The egg was light blue, but Itachi could see the candy that was lying inside of it. Sasuke still seemed oblivious to that.
Itachi smiled, giving up some time to talk to Sasuke. “You know, there are treats inside of that egg.”
“Treats?” Sasuke’s eyes widened. “How do you get them?” This was probably Sasuke’s first authentic Easter. The last four years Sasuke was too shy to walk up and play with the other kids. Something inside the little boy changed him. This was most likely the reason why Sasuke was so unaware about the customs of Easter.
“You have to open the egg,” Itachi replied, the exhaustion now catching up to him again.
“Open?” Sasuke repeated, staring at the egg. “But, won’t the chick die if it’s opened?”
Itachi sighed, the enthusiasm leaving him quickly. He didn’t desire to go over this to Sasuke. The Chuunin Exams were coming up very soon and he still needed some training. This was one of his only break days that he had until the Exams and he needed the rest. “Why don’t you ask hahaoya and chichioya?” Itachi suggested. “I don’t have any time for this, Sasuke…” the moment those words left his lips he wished that he could take them back. Sasuke hung his head apparently trying to hold back the tears that were coming. It was too late, though, because the older Uchiha could see one teardrop falling to the crumpled blanket. Itachi felt something tug at his stomach. “Ah, okay, Sasuke,” Itachi gave in trying to act passionate again. “No, the chick won’t die, because this is a special egg.” Itachi wouldn’t dare tell his brother that it was just a piece of colored plastic, because that was sure to break Sasuke’s fragile heart.
“And when you open it treats come out!?” Sasuke said, the tears disappearing from his face almost immediately.
Itachi nodded, gently smiling at his younger brother. “Yes.”
Sasuke instantly attempted to try and open the light blue egg, but his small hands were too frail for the task. Sasuke put the egg down on his lap, defeated. Itachi, trying not to let Sasuke down, took the egg and opened it with ease. Inside two pieces of Hershey’s Milk Chocolate lay at the bottom of the egg. “Nii-san, thank you!” Sasuke grinned as he took one piece of chocolate and handed the other to his brother.
Itachi hesitated in taking the chocolate that was being handed to him. He nearly declined but Sasuke dropped in Itachi’s hand, and the older Uchiha couldn’t say no. There was a moment of silence, and Itachi felt that he needed to say something, or else their conversation would be completely blown. “Sasuke, where are these eggs that you found?”
Sasuke knelt on Itachi’s bed as he brought his arms up. “Everywhere! All over Konoha!” Itachi smiled at Sasuke’s zeal. “Can you go help me find some, Nii-san?” Itachi had no yearning for anything of that sort – to be more precise, he didn’t fancy the idea of walking at all today. Itachi knew that it would break Sasuke’s heart completely if he said no.
“Okay, Sasuke, just wait a moment, alright? Are you sure that hahaoya and chichioya will let you?”
Sasuke nodded. “Mm, I asked Kaa-san and she said it would be alright if you came with me. So now we can go Easter Egg Hunting! Yeah!” Sasuke hugged Itachi and then dashed out of the room, into the kitchen. Itachi could hear Sasuke tell Mikoto that Itachi was coming with him. Itachi heard a grunt of disapproval from Fugaku but Mikoto and Sasuke ignored him.
Itachi got changed and walked into the kitchen, Sasuke practically gobbling down his food. He grinned at Sasuke, but he returned to his usual calm composure when he sat down. Immediately he felt Fugaku’s eyes upon him, telling him to tell Sasuke that he had no time to do such childish things. Itachi, like his mother and brother, ignored him completely. Fugaku didn’t like being ignored, so he just stood up and left the room.
Itachi stood at the doorway, waiting for Sasuke to run over and yell, ‘Let’s go!’ Sasuke dashed over and pulled on his shoes. “Let’s go, Nii-san!” Sasuke laughed. Itachi felt his stomach do three somersaults at the sight of Sasuke being so happy. It made him feel happy, too.
“Yeah,” Itachi nodded. Sasuke took his brother’s hand and walked outside with his brother. Both Uchihas were in the crowd of young kids and their parents searching for the many eggs that were hidden throughout Konoha.
~
“Nii-san, that was fun!” Sasuke said. The sun was already setting low into the sky as Sasuke rested on Itachi’s back. They were both heading towards home, and Itachi found the day worthwhile. Much better than just lying in bed all day. Itachi held Sasuke’s bag full of treats as the Uchiha household came into sight. Mikoto welcomed them home, and Itachi saw that Sasuke was fast asleep. Both Uchiha brothers had already eaten dinner, so Itachi took Sasuke and brought him into his room. Itachi tucked him his younger brother in bed. “Nii-san…”
“Hn?” Itachi was surprised that Sasuke was still awake at the moment.
“I love you.”
Itachi was taken by surprise by this. He had no idea what to say, so he just knelt down and kissed Sasuke’s forehead to substitute for the usual poke.
“I love you, too, Sasuke.”
~
Eight years later, Uchiha Sasuke stood at his window, staring down into the crowd of people with their young children, yet again searching for eggs. The day was almost over, and people were just going home. Sasuke thought he could see himself and his brother heading home in the distance, his younger self lying on his brother’s back. Sasuke reached his hand up to his forehead, where Itachi had kissed him that night. “I love you, Nii-san,” Sasuke whispered.
~
Uchiha Itachi stood near Konoha, having just infiltrated it for the Kyuubi. Kisame was snoring loudly behind him, but he could barely hear him through all the noises the crowd was making at Konoha. It was Easter again, that day which he had spent with Sasuke. The crowd was quickly lessening as everyone retreated back into their houses, leaving the streets of Konoha almost empty. Itachi vividly remembered that night, right after he tucked Sasuke into bed. “I love you, Nii-san.” Itachi stared out into the distance, and he could make out the scene in the horizon. “I love you, too, Sasuke,” Itachi smiled.
Mmkay. Here's the next part of Separation...
Chapter Two – Depression –
I believe that the hardest thing in life is not to be alone, but to be alone and remember the time when you weren’t.
~Coming Home by MoeRikyo
Sasuke was sitting next to a window in the Uchiha house. The academy was closed for the day, because a blizzard was rampaging its way through Konoha. Itachi still had to go on a mission that day and that worried Sasuke deeply. Ever since a few days ago, he spent most of his time alone, isolating himself from the rest of the world just as his older brother did. They were moving somewhere in early March.
Sasuke didn’t bother with the academy anymore – it wasn’t like he was able to become a shinobi since he was moving to just a regular village in the Fire Country. He couldn’t make out what his mother was saying the other day, though. Mikoto was crying for some reason, quietly speaking her reason of moving away from Konoha.
The young Uchiha that wasn’t going to be an Uchiha anymore sighed, watching the snow fall rapidly onto the ground, and then be covered by more snow. Sasuke opened the window with one hand and stuck out the other hand outside. It really was cold out there, and many snowflakes were already resting on the outstretched, seven-year-old hand.
Sasuke pulled away from the window, closing it in the process. The rest of his family was nowhere to be found, so for now Sasuke had the house to himself. It was really boring to him. Usually a young kid like him wouldn’t be left alone in a house, but in the Uchiha standards it was time for him to grow up.
That’s right…I’m not really in ‘The Uchiha Standards’ anyway…
Sasuke heard the entrance door to the house open and close swiftly. The young boy flinched, grabbing a knife from the kitchen.
Why would a thief come? Nii-san shouldn’t be back until later, and mom and dad shouldn’t be back until later, too…
Sasuke kept himself hidden in that area, every part of his body shaking. He was never in such a situation before, really, so it wasn’t surprising that he was scared. The footsteps stared toward where he was hiding.
The footsteps kept getting louder, and louder…and louder.
Sasuke heard that he was about to turn the corner, where he was hiding. When the intruder did, Sasuke jumped in the way, swiftly holding the knife out so that it was touching the burglar's neck. “Got you!” Sasuke whispered, pride welling up in him.
“Sasuke, you did get fast,” the ‘intruder’ said. Sasuke looked up, and he saw his older brother standing there, looking as calm as ever. There were hints of snow on his ANBU clothes. His face was slightly red from the freezing cold weather, and the some of his hair was slightly frozen.
“Nii-san…I’m sorry, I didn’t know that you were coming home so early,” Sasuke shyly mumbled, placing the knife back on the kitchen counter. “Well, why exactly are you home early?”
Itachi shrugged. “Turns out that Hokage-sama didn’t give us any missions…because he said that I should be at home during this kind of weather…” Itachi’s voice trailed off, though Sasuke could still hear some of what his older brother mumbled.
“That senile old man…still is treating me like a kid.”
Sasuke felt angry all of a sudden. “Nii-san, don’t insult Hokage-sama!”
“Oh…omae wa…” Itachi muttered.
“Sumimasen,” Sasuke apologized, the statement just automatically slipping out of his mouth. Itachi shrugged, saying that it was alright. He began walking away, and Sasuke immediately followed his older brother. Itachi looked behind him, conscious that his younger brother was trailing him.
“Sasuke, you’re…lonely, aren’t you?” Itachi quietly said to him after a silence. Sasuke had to admit it – no one paid attention to him anymore, especially since Mikoto filed for the divorce.
“Hai,” Sasuke nodded. Itachi gave him a gentle smile, saying,
“Please don’t speak to me like chichioya.”
Sasuke grinned for the first time in a while at Itachi’s remark. It was now apparent that Itachi didn’t want their relationship to be strained. “So…can I stay with you for a while? The house has been so quiet that I can’t say anything without earning a glare from Tou-san and Kaa-san.” Sasuke said those words slowly; he knew that his brother was going to say no.
“Alright.”
“Nani?”
“I said, alright,” Itachi gave his brother one of his rare, kind stares. Sasuke looked up at his brother with growing happiness, thankful that he actually made time to stay with him. “Just wait a moment, okay?”
“Okay,” Sasuke said with a truly glad expression on his face. Itachi walked into his room, and the younger brother stayed outside, waiting expectantly for his older brother to emerge.
“Sasuke,” Itachi softly muttered to his younger brother after a short silence. Sasuke’s face turned red for some reason. “What is it that you wanted to talk about?”
“Nothing, but I just wanted to talk to you since…you know,” Sasuke nervously mumbled back. Itachi sighed.
“I don’t think that I can do it anymore,” the elder brother said with such an impassive look on his face. Sasuke glanced up at his brother, a questioning look on his face. Itachi looked down on him, knowing that he didn’t understand. “I can’t stay this way for long…you know, as a genius. As a prodigy.” Sasuke’s mouth opened to ask why until his older brother started talking again. “You know…I told you before that having power makes you arrogant and isolated? I’m feeling more and more like that everyday.” Sasuke tried his best not to look to dumbfounded. It was all so confusing that his brother was just suddenly explaining what he was feeling at the moment to him.
“What does that have to do with what’s going on now?” Sasuke quietly asked, now trying not to sound too rude. “I don’t think Tou-san or now even Kaa-san cares about that right now…”
“Sasuke…do you hate me?”
Sasuke flinched at the inquiry. Itachi had been asking that to him a lot lately, but he usually doesn’t say anything, trying to hide the fact that he ultimately adored him and wanted to be like him…He knew that the good thing to do was to say, ‘of course not’ but when he tried, his mouth became so dry that not a single word was able to come out.
“Really, do you hate me?”
It was like he was begging me real answer, the real brotherly feeling that we have toward each other.
Sasuke looked away from his brother, attempting to be inconspicuous, but of course it wouldn’t work, seeing that it was only the two of them in the house.
“Sasuke…please answer me.”
Now he really is begging. What should I say? Should I answer or not?
“Sasuke…”
I just want to ask one question before this post ends...
What is Uchiha Itachi's blood type (I know! WOOT!)?
My Fanfiction Separation - ItaSasu - {Arc 1 Prologue and Chapter 1}
Disclaimer: I do not own Naruto...or...something about Itachi would have happened in the new manga this week.
Separation –ItaSasu- Prologue
Uchiha Itachi, the ANBU squad leader, just came home, fatigued. He could hear own heart beating from weariness as he stumbled into the house. Unlike Sasuke, he didn’t announce his arrival. For now, nothing really mattered except finding a nice, cozy bed to rest in.
Oh, how the silence should have lasted.
There were loud voices coming from a certain room in the house, and it was disrupting all peacefulness. Itachi scowled at nothing as he staged over to the door of the room, noting that it was his two parents that were arguing. He wasn’t exactly paying attention to what the arguement was about until...
“How could you do that? Do you realize that you are pressuring the both of them?” Mikoto’s voice rang in Itachi’s ears. There she was, always standing up for the good of the children.
“Sasuke is useless as he is.” That was Fugaku’s blunt reply. Itachi frowned, but pushed all thoughts of busting in there and joining in the dispute away. It was then when his little brother – Sasuke – decided to get out of bed and observe the row, too.
“Sasuke, shouldn’t you be in bed,” Itachi muttered, not glancing at his younger brother. Sasuke shrugged as an answer, and stood beside him, biting his lip at ever insult Fugaku said about him. Itachi watched Sasuke with growing worries. “Sasuke…you should go to bed.”
“Iiya, I don’t feel like it. I’m not sleepy anyway,” Sasuke replied. Itachi was tempted to retort, but he held back that feeling of rudeness. “Why are you listening in? Haven’t you heard them fight before?”
Sasuke’s question made Itachi jolt up for some reason. “I never really did hear them before… They probably only do so when I’m at ANBU…” Itachi hated to mention ANBU. Sasuke seemed to hate him for always leaving him because of that elite thing.
“Doesn’t matter,” Sasuke shrugged again. Right at that moment, there was silence. The two brothers saw their parents walk away from each other, and Mikoto opened the door.
They instantly took normal positions, trying to look inconspicuous. “Kaa-san,” Sasuke mumbled an obvious worried look on his face.
“Why are you up Sasuke?” Mikoto questioned. Sasuke replied with another shrug. “Go to sleep,” Mikoto concluded, walking away.
“Hai,” Sasuke mumbled again. He turned to his brother, and opened his mouth to say something. He closed it and walked away. Itachi watched his brother as he disappeared behind his bedroom door.
“Sasuke-” Itachi knew what Sasuke was going to say to him.
Nii-san, can you help me with training tomorrow?
Itachi had another important mission tomorrow and Sasuke probably figured that out because of the past let-downs.
Gomen…I should have spent more time with you.
Morning, at breakfast.
“Ohayo...” Sasuke said with a grin on his face as he sat down for breakfast.
“Ohayo, Sasuke,” Mikoto was the only one who answered him, and Sasuke nodded at his mother.
Sasuke noted the disturbing silence that had settled on the family. “Itadakimasu,” Sasuke muttered to himself. It was only after that when Mikoto finally spoke up.
“Fugaku, I suspect you already know this, but its over- I’m filing for a divorce.”
“Nani?” Itachi and Sasuke both said at the same time. Sasuke knew this was coming, though- let’s just say that it was a premonition that Mikoto and Fugaku couldn’t keep their relationship on good terms.
“You can do what you want…But I’m taking Sasuke. He doesn’t belong with you,” Mikoto quietly said. Fugaku didn’t have a surprised expression at all- he looked like he was about to say the same thing.
“Fine, but, Itachi will stay with me.”
Sasuke felt a pit grow in his heart. It was a black hole that was sucking up his brother away. He felt Itachi’s eyes upon him. “Sasuke,” he heard him say with concern.
Sasuke put on an act and stuck to it for the moment, trying to look strong. “It’s alright…I have to go to the academy right now, so…”
Itachi watched him solemnly as he walked away.
Chapter One – News –
Why?
Sasuke wondered as he was sitting on the wooden dock - the one where he finally mastered Katon: Goukakyuu No Jutsu (Fire Style: Grand Fireball Technique). The news of the divorce still haunted him throughout the school day, like a ghost who wished to scare him away. There was only one spark of hope - they would be still staying in one village.
Sasuke flinched when he heard footsteps behind him. He tried to stay calm when he found that it was his brother who settled down next to him. “Sasuke,” He quietly said to him.
“Nii-san…I don’t want you to go,” Sasuke whined as if he was a three-year-old. Itachi gave him a glance filled with worry, which indicated that he felt the same way. Sasuke sighed. “I just don’t want to be separated from you…You’re the only one who really ever paid attention to me…other than Kaa-san…”
Itachi gave his little brother a blank stare this time. Obviously, Itachi didn’t under stand Sasuke’s sentiments. “Look, Sasuke,” Itachi said after a long silence. “I know how you feel…and I don’t want to be stuck with chichioya.” Sasuke grinned at the remark- no one really ‘liked’ Fugaku anymore. “But…it’s a change that we both have to deal with.
“And, I really hate to be the bearer of bad news, but,” Itachi continued, hesitance written all over his face. “It turns out Mikoto is planning to move out of Konohagakure.” Sasuke opened his mouth to ask for the reason, but Itachi was already ahead of him. “I don’t know the details, nor will she tell me.”
“I don’t want to go!” Sasuke cried, tears breaking out as he hugged his older brother close. Itachi stroked his younger brother’s hair gently, whispering words of comfort into his ear. Itachi’s expression remained impassive, but there were apparent hints of sadness on his face.
For what seemed like an eternity they stayed there- only staying on one each other’s world. Sasuke’s tears slowly stopped until they were only sitting on the dock, locked in each others’ embrace.
“Nii-san, do you really have to…do we really have to…?” Sasuke sniffed. Itachi didn’t reply for a while.
“I…I have to go, Sasuke. I’ll see you later, okay?” Itachi said to Sasuke. Sasuke’s tears came again when Itachi said that. Itachi gently smiled at his younger brother as he stood up, leaving him alone again on the dock. Sasuke hugged his knees close to his chest, trying to end the pain that was growing at his heart.
For some reason, whenever Itachi was around, Sasuke felt some ‘warmth’. He sighed, knowing that there wasn’t really anything he could do about it.
Or was there?
Sasuke strolled back home, not wanting to come face-to-face with his father. Though he never really ‘liked’ his dad, now his mother didn’t seem any better…Sasuke thought she knew that he always admired his older brother, and now she wants to separate them?
~
“Kaa-san,” Sasuke muttered, walking into the kitchen.
“What is it?” Mikoto asked, hovering beside the stove.
Sasuke avoided his mother’s gaze and said, “Why are you and Tou-san divorcing? I thought things were fine the way they were…”
Mikoto sighed and turned back to the stove. “Sasuke, I’ve had it with your father…it’s like he doesn’t care about me or you…But I’m sure Itachi will survive with him. Besides, he is supposed to take your father’s place as the head of the clan when he gets older.”
“Then what’s going to happen to me? I always wanted to become a shinobi- are you just going to take that away from me?” Sasuke demanded his fist clenching. He never before got that angry at his mother.
“I’m sorry, Sasuke,” Mikoto gently said, though she didn’t turn to look at him. “It’s hard for me, too, but I think that a different environment would be good for you…that is all.” Sasuke was about to protest, but he kept his mouth shut.
“It’s more like you care more about yourself,” Sasuke mumbled. The young Uchiha walked out of the room before his mother could speak the truth.
“I’m so sorry, Sasuke,” Mikoto choked, tears rolling down her cheeks. “I just hate this desolate life of a shinobi…”
~
“Chichioya,” Itachi muttered, finding his father. Fugaku was home early from work that day. Fugaku nodded his head at Itachi and the young prodigy spoke. “Why are you divorcing with mother?”
“I didn’t divorce with her, she’s the one who filed it against me,” Fugaku replied frankly. “I really don’t have any objections to that.”
Itachi’s eyes narrowed. “Why not?”
Fugaku just sighed. “I guess I’ve had it with her, and your little brother.” Itachi frowned, crossing his arms. He couldn’t care less about his mother, but Sasuke…for some reason felt important to him. It was a feeling that he couldn’t explain.
“You have…?” Itachi muttered quietly. Fugaku glanced at him with a stern look on his face. “When will Mikoto move away?”
“In a month.”
A month? That’s…Itachi sighed, hiding his emotions as swiftly as they appeared. “Why are you interested?” his father’s question caught the young prodigy off guard. Itachi shrugged.
“Just…these kinds of things don’t come normally don’t they…?” Fugaku scowled at Itachi. The thirteen-year-old boy did have trouble with these so called ‘emotions’. He always questioned them as if they were math problems, and that was probably why he usually kept an impassive look to him.
“No,” Fugaku simply replied. Itachi shrugged again, tempted to move away.
“When I grow older…I’m going to take over the clan in your place?” Itachi asked, although both already knew the obvious answer. Fugaku nodded, and then he told Itachi to go away. Itachi reluctantly obeyed, walking away.
Sasuke…I’m afraid that I can’t fulfill my promise to you. There’s nothing we can do.
~
Sasuke banged his hand on the alarm clock on his bedside table. His mother told him before he went to sleep to inform the teachers in the academy that he was going to move away. Iruka-sensei (I don’t care if Iruka isn’t their teacher or not, but just stick with it) would probably hold a good-bye party on his last day, but it wasn’t like any of the classmates cared. He was just Uchiha Itachi’s younger brother.
“Ohayo,” Sasuke muttered as he plopped down to eat. This time none of the family members replied back execpt for a quiet, ‘Ohayo’. The young Uchiha looked up and his eyes met with a just-woken up older brother. Sasuke nodded at his brother as Itachi sat down across from him.
“Itadakimasu,” Sasuke whispered to himself as he picked up his chopsticks and began eating silently. He could feel his brother’s eyes upon him again, so Sasuke tried his best to try and ignore him.
Mikoto handed Sasuke his bento box when he finished up his breakfast. Fugaku had already left and Itachi was in his room packing up his ANBU things. Sasuke picked up his bag for the academy and walked out of the door. “Itekimasu.” he said aloud.
Walking away from the Uchiha household he awkwardly ambled past his other Uchiha relatives and followed his regular path to the academy. He entered his classroom in his usual seat, waiting for Iruka-sensei to come. When the peppy chuunin entered, he slowly sauntered over to him, trying to look as inconspicuous as he could. “Iruka-sensei, my mom told me to tell you that I’m moving next month…so…” Sasuke almost inaudibly said to the chuunin.
Iruka-sensei gave Sasuke one of his stern, gentle gazes. “So, this will be your last month in Konoha? Do you know why?”
Sasuke was surprised at the man’s inquery. Iruke didn’t usually butt into people’s personal lives. “I…My mom said that it would be ‘good for me’…but I’m not sure.” Iruka-sensei nodded at the young Uchiha.
“Hai, hai. Would it be okay with you if I told the class?”
“It doesn’t matter,” Sasuke timidly murmured. Iruka nodded and announced the news to the class. Some seemed surprised, others seemed like they could care less.
“How troublesome…” the boy named Shikamaru groaned lazily. “Now I can’t be in his group and let him do all the work for me…”
“Ne, Shikamaru…did you want to be in my group, too?” Chouji asked the deer boy.
Shikamaru shrugged. “Well, yeah, it would make my life so much easier.”
Sasuke eyed his amazed classmates. He scowled like his older brother at him, trying to act like Itachi as much as possible. Nii-san, why can’t I be like you? You’re so perfect, and everyone looks up to you…like I do…
~
“Ugh,” Itachi muttered, meeting up with his ANBU group. They had just been briefed on their mission - it was just to find this rogue ninja and bring him back or kill him…anything was fine, just bring him back, dead or alive.
“Itachi-san, you’re acting…more animated,” one of his ANBU members blinked at him. He was at least seven years older that his captain. (I’ll just name him Yoshito, because he’ll talk a little more later on…)
“Shut up…” Itachi simply replied. The other two other shinobi and one kunoichi glance at each other worriedly. He never really replied to Yoshito, no matter what the older shinobi said.
“Itachi-san, are you sure you’re alright?” Yoshito pushed on. The concerned elder shinobi was like Naruto in a way- only the fact that he was the ‘whoever abandons their teammate is even worse scum’ type (Not that I have anything against that, I think it’s a great thing).
“Yeah, let’s just go,” Itachi muttered. They no longer pursued the topic and went on with the mission. While they were following the rogue ninja’s trail, the prodigy’s mind wandered away.
Sasuke…I really wish that I could spend more time with you.
~
Hope you enjoyed...Well, I wrote this some time ago, and there's three arcs in all. The second one is by far my favorite, though. All three of the arcs should be at least five chapters, but the last one might be more or less.
Anyway, in shinobilegends I shall soon be Genin!!! YAY!!!
FOOFY!!! Foofy gone...
