Firefox Conspiracy (2)

Trystin awoke with a start. Birds were chirping in the trees above. Trystin thought it odd to have trees in his bedroom, but soon he remembered that he was in the woods. It had been two months since he'd ran away. Still, Trystin was not used to being alone. One word reverberatd through his head: Firefox. Why was that word stuck in his head? Oh yeah, he thought, Mommy told me that word. I wish I knew what it was. Suddenly, there was a sound in the bushes. Trystin was afraid. He looked all around. He was still alone. Trystin felt a little relief, but then a hand grabbed his shoulder. Another hand covered his mouth. The government people! Trystin began to whimper. "Stop your crying!" a voice said in a harsh whisper. "You've been calling to us for two months. Dresdyn will be glad I found you. We've searched for you for so long. You are the key to our future." Trystin looked up to see a boy with unruly white-blonde hair. "Follow me," said the boy, turning. "Wait, what's your name?" asked Trystin. "My name's Trystin, and I'm-" "Shh!" the boy said, silencing him. "Names aren't important right now." Trystin looked at his feet, but followed the strange boy. He thought about asking where they were going, but thought better of it. His thoughts then turned their attention back to home. Back to his family. Back to Tryx...

Firefox Conspiracy (1)

Trystin gazed into the sky. He wondered what was really above the clouds. Someday, he thought to himself, I'll be a pilot and fly over the clouds. "Trystin!" Emmy called from the porch. Emmy was his older sister. Her real name was Emylle, but everyone called her Emmy. Trystin also had an older brother, Tryxton. Everyone called him Tryx. As Trystin came up the steps, Tryx came out the door. "Tryx!" Trystin exclaimed as he ran into Tryx's arms. "Hey, Trys. What up?" Tryx asked, hefting the nine-year-old onto his shoulders. "I'm gonna fly someday, Tryx. I'll be a pilot, and you and Emmy can come with me." "Sure, Little Buddy. You'll be the best pilot ever." Tryx sounded tired. Tryx carried Trystin into the kitchen. Mom was at the table, trying her best not to cry. Tryx let Trystin down. "Mommy, what's wrong?" he asked. Daddy sat down next to Mommy. "Trystin, you know how sometimes, when you play a game, somebody will make a new rule to try to make the game better? Well, the government has made a new rule." Trystin was confused. Why was Daddy telling him this? "This new rule is that families can only have two children. The third-born, and any other children beyond the second, have to leave. I want you to look at me, and listen close." Trystin stared into Daddy's eyes. "Go into the woods. Stay away from the government people. If they find you, they'll take you to their labs. And, Son," Daddy took him by the shoulders, "trust only your heart, and remember, no matter how far apart we are, we'll find each other again." Trystin began to cry. He didn't want to leave Daddy, Mommy, Tryx, and Emmy. Mommy picked him up and held him close. She whispered only one word: Firefox... (I'll post more as I write it.)
