Random Fanboy Rant. . .w00t!
Wise Words
Even though I don't consider myself a fanboy of any particular system, I do think that at the very least Nintendo should be respected by gamers from all camps. Listening to people ignorantly slagging Nintendo is like listening to some whiney kid trash talking the Ramones or the Beatles, completely disregarding that without the aforementioned bands, none of the terrible music they like would even exist. I know I have used this analogy before, but damn if it's not true. And this game is a testament to that.
It's true that the formula laid down by SM 64 was improved on by games like Banjo Kazooie (see part 1), but would BK have even existed without this? Probably not. And since I was predominantly a Sega gamer before I played this (my mom wouldn't let me have more than one system at the time), this is the game that introduced me to the Mario series (unless you count the Gameboy titles, which I played the hell out of). If you haven't played this yet, then there's only one thing I can possibly do. *slap*
