Hallo-hallo everyone! What's up?! School's started for me, but I haven't updated in about...four or five days? Oh gosh, I'm dumping more stuff on you guys to read!!!
On Friday, I went with Alex, and we biked all the way to Burger King! We ate, but it was really empty without Diana, who was at home because she wanted to play MapleStory on my laptop all day. Grr... (She broke the tradition!!!)
We biked over to the Dollar Store, where Alex got a present for her friend, and me, buying some candy (Crayola makes jellybeans?!).
Next stop: Sue's. Alessandra got back from Venezuela! So me and Alex, plus Alessandra and Sue, were talking about our Halloween party plans.
...And only one day to go.
Saturday: I went biking to the tennis courts around 10 AM. We were IDIOTS!!! What kind of people play tennis before noon?!?! Janice, her dad, Tomas, Alex, and Sue were there. We only played tennis for a short while, then suffered heat stroke, and ran to the shelter of the nearby school, sleeping on the concrete.
We did silly random stuff, like roll tennis balls to each other, and practice our AIM. Oh, and I think Sue fell in love with a dragonfly.
Diana went to Anh Nhi's birthday party that day. When she got home, she kept on talking about how she wanted to eat more food from there. Hahaha.
Sunday: After church, we went to the temple to celebrate a Buddhist holiday: It's the day when your honor the people that passed away! In Japan, I happen to know for a fact that it's called Bon. In Vietnamese, it's ____ Bu Lan (I forgot the entire thing!). You wear red chrysanthemum pins if your parents are still alive, but white if your parents have passed away.
Well, we only stayed for a bit, but that was because Mom was still recovering from surgery, and Ricky and Diana kept complaining about how hot it was.
Then, we went to eat Chinese food! It was funny: Hardly anyone was there. It was a Buddhist holiday, of course, so you're not supposed to eat meat. Thus, no Chinese people (which usually make up the population of the restaurant!).
Hmmm... That entire night, I remember doing laundry and get ready...but yet, not being ready.
Oh yeah. One new pair of pants and two new shirts of mine don't fit! You see, when we last went clothes shopping, my dad basically rushed me out of the store, not letting me try on any of the clothes. My mom says, "This is why you never bring a man shopping." Something to that effect. *laughs*
Monday: Oh, the big, big day! I got to see everyone, and no one had changed! I looked at all the freshmen, who were surprising, all wearing white shirts that said "Abercrombie & Fitch" or "Hollister" on them... That's funny.
I sat with Janice and Aaron with Kathy! We all had the bus together!!! YAY!!!
However, it wasn't until later that I found out that I was separated from our old busmates (Nam, Shikhar, Rishab!!!!)...
Let me see... English: I had Chris in there! I basically hit him for sending me a link to a video that almost gave me a seizure. Dummy... ("Desu desu desu!!!" The heck?!?!)
The rest of the day was pretty good. I had lunch with Nam, Akhil, Aaron, Sheena, and a bunch of other people! But the new people! They took our old table!!! GRR!!!
Sheena and me are in the same Biology class! We spent the time talking or writing to each other in Japanese (actually, mostly Sheena, hah). Our Biology teacher is Taiwanese, and she knows a bit of Japanese! Whoo!
And our last class...Multimedia. OH MY GOSH! DOMINIQUE AND LAUREN ATTACKED ME!!! I was walking in, and they started screaming, "TRAVIS!!!", rushed up to me to hug me, yet they somehow knocked their heads together. Oh, that was funny as heck.
It was my first loudest class today: Why? Well, it was an academy class, and basically, EVERYONE knew each other. Ahhh, so great.
Oh yes, yes. I had English homework on the first day of school... And...I failed my first quiz. (Wah.)
Second day wasn't so bad! I figured that we'd always be late to school now... It won't give me a chance to talk to the Deaf students. Vu signed that he's going to move to Austin, possibly in a month. It's really sad too...
Spanish for Native Speakers class... OH MY GOSH!!! I freaked out!!! I mean, I was the ONLY Asian person (heck, non-Hispanic!) in there! When I walked towards the teacher, asking where my class was, he was surprised, and asked in Spanish, "Do you speak Spanish?" and "Where are your parents from?" I replied to him in Spanish, with "Si." and "Mi madre es 'Chinese', y mi padre es 'Vietnamese'." (I don't know the Spanish words for those countries!!!)
So I came in, and sat, feeling a bit awkward. I knew Alex (Bokju's friend, not the Burger King one!), but she sat at the other corner of the room.
I was so scared that I was not gonna understand the teacher, but I understood almost everything! Even down to the jokes of where he was making fun of the other Spanish class (Spanish I, II, and III), for learning simple things like numbers, "rojo, amarillo," and all that stuff! I bursted out laughing.
However, I got really afraid when he asked everyone to introduce themselves in Spanish. (Remember that I'm the only non-Hispanic person in a room full of Spanish native speakers.) I got awkward, and asked, "What am I supposed to say again?" in English, forgetting that he already said that we could ONLY speak in Spanish... (Eep!)
However, the people in the class are really nice! I thought they would laugh at my horrible Spanish, but they were really supportive (one girl even clapped her hands, hah).
My writing is MUCH more better though. We basically had to take a small quiz in Spanish about where we were from, how we learned Spanish, along with an essay, and two guys were admiring how I was able to write so fluently in Spanish...
I think I did pretty good. I still kept thinking though, "What the heck does 'contestar' mean?!" I later asked Victoria, and she said it means "to answer" in Spanish.
I think I like the class, but...
I'm still scared like heck.
History class was interesting. I got lost trying to find it, and I managed to rip up a part of my rolling backpack! (That's what I get for dragging it around!)
The teacher was telling us stories, and he told us that his mom was a supporter of the KKK, and how he was trying to make his mom more tolerant. It was...awkwardddd...
Lunch: Yay! I finally found Raul! Yeah!!! However, he scares me now. Last year, I was always the one to hug him, and he would at least cringe a little. Now he's hug-crazy. (Oh no! I've turned Raul gay!!!)
I sat with Victoria, Aaron, Raul, Hilda, Stephanie, and Jessica today.
I also found Bokju today! I forgot when though...
I found out my Computer Science teacher is from my same hometown! Yeah! Funny how I was sitting next to her son. He tried to hide it at first, but then let the entire class know. Bwahaha.
Humza, Danish, Safir, Fola, and Puja (or Puji, in my case!) are all in my class. Fola seemed really tired though.
I annoy people... I can tell you that. (I bet you're annoyed with this post!)
The bus ride was pretty interesting... Aaron said I had been possessed by a "gay, Spanish-speaking demon"... Oh, that was FUNNY. *bursts out laughing*
Why he called me that: In Spanish for Native Speakers class, I tried to pronounce the word "mejorar" (to improve), but it came out wrong. So, I've been trying to fix it all day. It's like a tongue twister to me.
I just went to Wal-Mart to get some more supplies, but the entire store was CROWDED!!! ARGHGHGHGH!!!! It was filled like heck!!!
Walgreens was less crowded, but the prices were higher. Arghhh.
I saw Felix in Wal-Mart and Rezuan in Walgreens. Yay.
Okay... What other notes...
I finally saw Jing-yee, on the first day of school! She's a sophomore, who just transferred from Bush! Every time we see each other, we point at each other, lean a bit back, and annunciate, "YOU!!!!" It's really funny, but kind of scary.
On the first day, I was waiting for Aaron to get off the bus, and when he did, I hit him. Some of the freshmen thought we were being gay together. (The hell?!)
One of the freshman that thought I was gay tried hitting on me. (Oh wow.)
Now, why did I hit Aaron? Well, on the day before school started, he told me that we would be on the same bus as Kathy and Janice, and Kathy wanted to keep that a secret. To atone for his sins, Kathy allowed me to hit Aaron. I did it once, but it didn't work, so I tried it again, after school.
On the second day of school, I was asking Leticia for directions to a certain outside shack (they're all new!). As I was walking, one of Leticia's friends asked who I was, and then asked if I wanted her to walk with me to my class. (Strange...)
It's been really fun, but things are just getting harder and harder.
Sorry for the long post! Bye!
