Hola hola! My first week of school is OVER! Yeah!!! Let's dance! Well, you don't have to, but if you want, then sure!
On Wednesday, me, Sheena, Jacob, and Jabari were all in a group for Biology together, and we did a skit where a girl named Alice was stupid enough to drink hydrochloric acid. I swear, we kept laughing the ENTIRE period! However, when we did our skit, no one got it. (Does anyone understand what hydrochloric acid DOES to you?!)
Q: What would you do to help Alice?
Jacob: I'd help pay for her funeral! *bursts out laughing*
Huh. I remembered that I brought my guitar to school for Guitar Club! However, because of rain, all of the classes were shut down. I remember me and Lauren rushing downstairs to see if the Guitar Club was taking place. Sadly, it wasn't...or so we THOUGHT. Turns out, the club room had been changed. Goshdarnsit!
The next day (Wednesday)... Oh my GOD... Spanish for Native Speakers! The teacher asked everyone to describe a tradition of their culture or family in SPANISH! Oh... I failed so BADLY. I kept stuttering, and there was a point where I just stopped talking at all. Shortly after that, one girl snapped in my face while walking past me, and my friend's friend asked, "Why are you even in this class?" Needlessly to say, I walked around the school depressed for quite a while...
Debo hacer algo mejorar mi español...
Well, the only nice people that I've met in the class is a girl that's half Spaniard, half French. She lived in Madrid, as far as I know.
In Algebra II, I was lost... VERY lost.
And...in History, I made it seem like I was so smart in the class, so the teacher gave me double the work (NOOO!!!), and guess what? I so happened to make a 40 because I forgot to do vocabulary!!!
Computer Science... Hmm... It was Fola's birthday! I gave her a dollar (Puji says I gave her $5???), and I got a brownie and chips! Yay!
Next day... Friday? Well, in English, everyone has 20 journals to do. And...I was supposed to annotate the first five chapters from The Lord of the Flies (that's about 80 pages!), but I fell asleep and only managed to finish at least 50... I'm sad.
In Study Hall, I got to talk with Jocelyn and Susanth! We played B.C. with two students that I've never seen before (I assumed that they were freshmen, but they say they're sophomores... Huh...).
Oh yeah! I found out Miriam moved to Dubai! The heck?! She went to school the first two days, and then, after that, she goes on AIM and tells everyone, "Bye guys. I'm moving to Dubai."?!?! WHAT?!?!
In Biology, we did a measuring experiment, and I "failed" my first test because I didn't bother to read my test over. (Everyone had to make a 100; I made a 98.)
In the transition between Biology and Multimedia, I ran quickly to my History teacher, got my grade bumped up from a 40 to an 85, and quickly ran towards Multimedia class.
In Multimedia, they transferred Jocelyn and Lauren out!!! NOOO!!! So, it's up to Dante and me (especially Dante) to help that new girl in Multimedia.
Oh, and Geraldine's in my class now! I signed to her, but messed up on it, and the translator kept giving me weird looks when I was signing (oh gosh, it's not THAT bad, is it?!).
I think that's it...
Now for an overlook of school!
I've been getting a lot of hugs from Raul lately! However, some people will look at us weird. Especially this one woman (teacher) in one of the Science hallways who gave us a mean/weird glance.
I've been getting more homework, but I've been less procrastinating...except for this weekend. BLARGH!!!
Janice got me addicted to DBSK! I like their song, Rising Sun. My sister, however, keeps telling me that they're a gay (literally, as in "boy loves boy") band... Oy.
In my lunches, no one could find each other! They shut down the patio because students have been skipping and drug dealers have been coming around, so yeah. No outside this year.
But...in return, it makes the commons VERY crowded, to the point where there aren't even eough seats for everyone! Some of us (my friends and I) had to share the same seats!
Akhil and Nam traded bodies. Well, minds anyways. Akhil's acting like Nam this year (more procrastinate-like), while Nam is acting like Akhil this year (he's ACTUALLY doing his work!). Oh, the horror!!! *runs around screaming*
This weekend, now... On Saturday, I went to go return my clothes. You see, a week or two ago, my entire family went clothes shopping. However, my dad continued on rushing us out of the store. It was really annoying, and I never got to try on some of the clothes! Well, guess what? To make the situation worse, they didn't fit! So off we went, to return the clothes!
I went to go pick out some new clothes, and I learned: Most of the clothes that nowaday stores sells? They're UGLY. I mean, all of the clothes either have stupid sayings on them, they're too small or too big, or they looked as if someone ran them over with a steamroller, trampled over by a bunch of football players' cleats, and used to clean off the sweat from those same football players!
Can't I find any nice clean-cut clothes anymore?!?! Argh! I want to learn how to sew!!!
After that, we went to a restaurant to eat some Vietnamese pho. It used to be a Chinese restaurant before, but they sold the place and it got changed. However, it was really funny because they used the same tables as the last restaurant, and those tables had the logo from before. Bwahaha!!!
The waiter seemed gay. I mean, he talked Vietnamese...with a lisp!
My mom couldn't eat the pho because she said it was too hot. She asked if they could bring in a bowl of hot soup so she could transfer it into their pho. As we were eating, I heard the workers in the back talk. This is a small transcript of what they said:
"Gay" Waiter: I can't believe she said our food wasn't good!
Girl: Everyone says that our food was delicious!
"Gay" Waiter: Not true. There was that one woman in the morning that said that the pho was too salty. First she complains, but then that fat pig gobbles it up all anyways. (Sounds much more rude in Vietnamese, but this is the only way I can translate it.)
Then I noticed that after my mom made that comment about the pho not being hot enough, our waiter started treating us like shit and being rude.
...How mean.
Vietnamese people can't take criticism. Try to put in some criticism, or tell them that they're doing something wrong, and they'll get angry and snap back at you. Ugh.
Anyways, we went grocery shopping later. We bought beef jerky!
When we got home, and after putting up the groceries, my mom took out some apple wine, poured me, my sister, and herself a glass, and we drank it all down while eating beef jerky. Well...actually...I finished my sister's drink for her. (I'm gonna be SUCH an alcoholic later on...)
Then, my sister and I quickly got on our bikes and went to go play tennis with Nickkie, Sue, Tomas, and Alex. Fun, ja.
Today, on Sunday, my family and I went to church. After that, we went to go eat CiCi's Pizza, did more shopping, then we returned my brother's pants. More grocery shopping, and we headed home.
Oh, I went to go play tennis again with Sue, Tomas, Alex, Janice, and Janice's parents.
A Vietnamese family happened to walk past the tennis courts, and they were mumbling something (in Vietnamese) about playing tennis was stupid because it made you all hot and sweaty.
This, my friends, is why people are awkward when they're around people who don't speak the same language. You never know what they are saying about you. However, even though some people are nice and are not like that, you just never know.
I went home a bit later, and I'm here now. I've been trying to learn more and more Spanish, and my attempts have been better! I read the Spanish dictionary and I watched some Spanish news and movies, and I learned some new words!
Hierramiento = Tool (the metal kind)
Polvo = Dust
Amenaza = Threat
Huracán = Hurricane
Fútil = Futile
Manecilla = Hand (of a clock)*
*A funny mnemonic that I've come up with is by comparing the words mantequilla (butter) and manecilla (hand of a clock). Bwahaha.
If I keep this up, maybe I can understand what my teacher is talking about in class. I just need to learn at least ten new vocabulary words a day.
I also talk to myself in Spanish now, but that's only so I can improve my Spanish.
...Maybe my next post will be in Spanish. I should do that. Yeah.
Bye!
Edit: I can also roll my Spanish "rr" now! And, on Saturday's tennis game, I found out Alex can roll her "rr" sound too! But she can't speak Spanish. Grr.
On Sunday's game, I tried to get Nam to play with us, but his dad said that he had been up all night and he was sleeping. (I also heard a lot of bolts opening and unlocking while waiting for the door to open...)
