Yes, there was a program at third period for a Chinese story-telling, since Chinese New Year is almost coming. A Chinese woman came to our school and told Chinese folk tales. Well, since I am bored, I am going to tell you the story of Qi Qiao Jie, or Tanabata in Japan.
A young cowherd named Niu Lang (the star Altair) happens across seven fairy sisters bathing in a lake. Encouraged by his mischievous companion the ox, he steals their clothes and waits to see what will happen next. The fairy sisters elect the youngest and most beautiful sister Zhi Nü, weaver girl, the star Vega) to retrieve their clothing. She does so, but since Niu Lang sees her naked she must agree to his request for marriage. She proves to be a wonderful wife, and Niu Lang a good husband, and they are very happy together. But the Goddess of Heaven (in some versions Zhi Nü's mother) finds out that a mere mortal has married one of the fairy girls and she's furious. (In another version, the Goddess forced the weaver fairy back to her former duty of weaving colorful clouds in the sky because she could not do her job while married to the mortal.) Taking out her hairpin, the Goddess scratches a wide river in the sky to separate the two lovers forever (thus forming the Milky Way separating Altair and Vega).
Zhi Nü must sit forever on one side of the river, sadly weaving on her loom, while Niu Lang watches her from afar and takes care of the two kids (his flanking stars Aquila -β and -γ).
But once a year all the magpies in the world take pity on them and fly up into heaven to form a bridge (Que Qiao) over the star Deneb in the Cygnus constellation so the lovers may be together for a single night, the seventh night of the seventh moon. This is the night of Qi Qiao Jie!
Eh, I copied this from a site. I'm so tired... My hand aches, so here. XP It's Chinese Valentine's Day! (Why'd I put it for this day? I'm stupid...) And for stupid people, did you know Ayashi No Ceres is based on Qi Qiao Jie? Isn't that cool? Well, I also found out Trangie is a demon child... Oh, the horror! But she was just playing... I also tried hitting Alaina over and over today... Fun. XP Ok, my hand aches. I'll see you tomorrow. I gotta go to Tet...
EDIT #1: 7:27 PM CST
Hey, everyone. I'm back from Tet practice. It was confusing... I'm one of the hosts now! I wanted to be in the Ms. Saigon Pageant, but they wouldn't let me. (Yes, it's supposed to be boys. It's like taranzuka (Me no how spell...) theatre.) Some of those guys are perverted... So... Yeah. Most of the guys were wearing girl dresses. XP It looked funny, yet wrong... (The dresses were sorta transparent... o_O;;) So, after the practice, (Or so we thought...) we went to our bus. Guess what? The bus never came! It seems that they changed the buses and we all got lost. Man, it got dark by the time we got on the bus! (I kept staring at the moon for some reason... It's so beautiful... Full moon. ^^) And by the time I got home, I was tired, hungry, and my ankles hurt. So I just ate spring rolls, now now, here I am. Now, I gotta do my homework... (Why doesn't anybody take a gun and kill me right now?)
