Gong Hei Fat Choy! Chuc Mung Nam Moi!
In the Beginning: 7:03 PM CST
Hey! I got li xi (red envelopes) today! I dunno how much I got though. (I'm not allowed to open my li xi until next year. ^^;;) Today was...fun. I woke up around eight AM, and starting snacking on the Chinese New Year candy. (I'm bad... ^^;;) After that, I put on my ao dai (Vietnamese clothes; resembles Chinese clothes). It's blue. I'll probably be wearing it to the Tet program, even though I don't need to. Then I recieved my li xi. My mom gave me money that my relatives gave me LAST year. (WHAT ELSE HAVE YOU BEEN HIDING FROM ME?!) Sigh... I kept walking around my ao dai until noon. Then, we prayed the whole rosary. XP After that, I snacked on candy, listened to Tet music, and slept. I also ate chai (vegetarian). (On the first day of Chinese New Year, you have to go vegetarian, or at least in my house.)
After that, we went to church around six PM. Ash Wednesday, eh? (Is it a coincidence that Chinese New Year and Ash Wednesday are on the same day?) I saw some of my friends from school, like Jeannie and Katie. We recieved our ashes, and then we went home. (Ya know the words they say to you when you recieve the ashes? It sounds almost depressing.) "You are made of ashes, and ashes you will return." Something like that...
Ok, my brother is killing me 'cause he wants to play computer. Stay safe!
Here is My Mother's Philosophy for Today:
1. Don't ever spend money on Chinese New Year day.
2. If you do something on Chinese New Year, you'll do it over and over again for the rest of the year.
3. Be veggie.
Eh, those might seem weird to you, but it might come to good use in the end.
The End: 7:12 PM CST
Oh yeah. For being good, here's a nice li xi. (Pats head)
Another thing: The only way to get this li xi is to break the computer monitor and grab it, ok? ^^
