Hi everyone. It's 6:40 PM CST right now.

Well, I woke up, not sick as much. Yay! So, I spent my morning basically watching TV. Then, it was time for Viet Ngu. I got a 100 on my test! But my next test is about Vietnamese folklore, history, and geography! (You see, we've only been learning how to speak and read the Vietnamese language...) Sigh...

Did you know that in one Vietnamese folklore, Vietnamese people are descendants of dragons and fairies! That'd be so cool if it were true... (That's the one I have my test on...)

Church was good. Before that, we saw two church movies. I kept dazing off... After church, Father made us stay in church because someone made a bad offering to God. (You know the time when you put in the money? Someone wrote bad things and put it in.) We spent about 15 minutes after church asking for forgiveness. They still want to find the culprit...

Hey, since I'm learning about Asian folklore, here are some key differences on some holidays. They're pretty much the same if you look at them. ^^

Key Points on Asian Folklore

Vietnamese Folklore: Con Rong Chau Tien

  • Male dragon and female fairy
  • Get married
  • Have children (100)
  • Fairy
  • Children become ancestors of Vietnamese people

Chinese Folklore: Qi Qiao Jie

  • Male cowherd and female goddess
  • Get married
  • Have children (2)
  • The queen and king take the goddess back to heaven
  • Can only visit every seventh month, seventh day

Japanese Folklore: Tanabata

  • Male cowherd and female goddess
  • Get married (2)
  • Have children
  • The queen and king take the goddess back to heaven
  • Can only visit every seventh month, seventh day

See how they're alike? And how come Qi Qiao Jie and Tanabata are the same is because the Japanese borrowed the same legend into their culture, that's why.

I'd love to chat more, but I'm hungry! Zai Jian and Wan An!
