Tamao is a very shy girl who learns the art of shamanism with the Asakura family. She can foretell the future using a Ouija board, though her predictions aren't always exact (don't forget she's still a student! ^_^U). She has lived with the Asakuras since the age of 4, and her childhood friends are Yoh and Anna. From an early age, she's always been in love with Yoh, yet she knows it's an impossible love because Anna is his fiancée... But Tamao has accepted it and she's determined to not stand in their way. She's very introverted and it's hard for her to express her feelings, but she's also a very sweet and kind girl who cares a lot about her friends and, even though she lacks the power and skill it takes to join the fight and help them, she tries her best to be useful to the group, even if it's just with her humble divination skills ^^U

Tamao's spirits are Conchi and Ponchi, two ugly animal-like guys and probably the weirdest characters in the show
