"Dumating na ang taong sasalo sa ITLOG mo!!!"

Subtitles: "The man who is destined to catch your egg has arrived!"

>>>>>
The first two days of November are very important to Filipinos.
It is the day when people pray for the souls of their departed loved ones.
My family celebrates this holiday(?) in a different way. We do not go to a cemetary... maybe because the graves of our loved ones are very far away from our house. I have not been inside a cemetary for years.

This is what we usually do...

whenever we have a meal for that day my mother cooks another serving. That extra serving will be placed in one area of the house. Beside the food a candle will be lit.

No one should touch that food... I don't know why but my mother says the food was for the souls who would come inside our house.

Do souls eat?

We also light up candles outside our house. The number of candles represent the number of dead people we would pray for.

See, that's how we celebrate it.

However I would really love to dress up as a jester and go trick-or-treating.
If only my neighbors would actually give me candies or stuff instead of driving me away.

I once did this and my neighbors thought that I was just plain crazy.
If others can go trick-or-treating in their neighborhood, why can't I do it here?

I was deprived of the joy of trick-or-treating.

Sad, ne?

I was looking at the telephone as if it was a very dangerous device. It seemed like it was about to explode at any second.
I know his number. I may not remember it but I have it written in a piece of paper posted to the wall. In doing that, I have never forgotten his number.

I picked up the receiver. My fingers were trembling as they press each number.

I just want to talk to him what's wrong with that?

But then again... what would we talk about?

I put the receiver down. I won't call him anymore.
