  Why can't I spend my vacation without actually spending money?

That is the reason why most people hate vacations. It is not only boring but also expensive.

I was talking to my highschool friend a while ago and he was trying to convince me to go to a movie.
I am not against it if I only have sufficient funds to actually go.

There are times when I wish that I'm rich. WISH... meaning that it can really never happen.

Wishing is different from hoping... according to our English teacher... when you hope it is different from when you wish. When you wish it means that there is some part of you that tells you that it would never happen. When you hope there is more probability that the thing you are saying will come true.

I hope I'm rich. I wish I'm rich. I want to be rich right now!
