Chronicles of Endaria - First Chapter, Part I
Aeryon tilted his head back, letting his long, black hair brush the floor. He didn't like to sit on the throne, he always complained to Aeria that the throne's back was too tall and he couldn't sleep on it. Aeria always bickered with him, telling him someone more responsible than him should take his place. It didn't matter much to him, though. All he wanted was her happiness, Georgia's happiness and Route's happiness. He barely thought about the kingdom itself, only of its bright blue sky, cloudless and clean... its green meadows bathing in sunlight... the beautiful eagles that protected the Tower of Kleydos and the surrounding palace. Aeryon always tried to forget whatever loss the eternally prosperous land of Endaria could possibly be going through. He knew that was his sister's job. Aeryon's personality was too careless and unearthly to let him focus on problems. However, Aeria always managed to make him sign whatever was needed to sign, whether it was a peace treaty or a declaration of war.
As the young heir began to feel his Angel of Sleep wrap itself around him, his mind awoke with a shock as soon as he heard it: a thunder, louder than he had ever heard one, ripped open Endaria's turquoise sky... and landed right on the center of the Palace. The Tower of Kleydos, power source of Endaria, had been broken in half. And no matter how much he tried to, this time Aeryon couldn't focus on Endaria's blue sky or its green meadows. This time, he couldn't forget on how the blue sky would turn to a black storm and his prosperous kingdom would sink into shadow.
Aeria awoke from her peaceful slumber as soon as she heard the blast. As she raised her head quickly from the desk and carefully attached her visor, she tried to think about what could have made such a racket. The best solution was, of course, to lift herself from the hovering chair and calmly walk up to her window…only to see what had been haunting her mind for years.
The Tower of Kleydos, once a beautiful silver column that pierced high into the atmosphere, was unrecognizable. Its glass covering lay shattered on the mountainous ground surrounding the palace. Its crystal and steel walls, believed to be created by the finest craftsmen in Endaria, was contorted and broken. At a first look, the once majestic Tower that gave safety to her people, looked nothing more, nothing less, than like a shattered mirror.
Aeria's cobalt eyes trembled in shock, tears beginning to form on their edge. Humidity was forming on her visor, preventing her vision, but what was left there to see? Her kingdom, her homeland… what she had strived to protect, everything she had given her heart, mind and soul for… was broken. Lost forever. And somehow now, she couldn't possibly find a way to blame it on her irresponsible brother.
