   Trigun Alternate Pairings Contest
Announcing my first ever Trigun fanfic contest.

The contest is simple: write a Trigun fanfiction with an alternate pairing and post it at fanfiction.net.

Sorry yaoi fans, but this is het pairings only this time around: I may hold a yaoi contest another time. . . o.O
********************************
Contest FAQ:
Q: What is an alternate pairing?
A: An alternate pairing is characters that were not canon relationships in the Trigun series. A few examples would be VashxMilly, KnivesxMeryl, VashxMarianne, LegatoxMilly, KnivesxMilly, LegatoxMeryl, WolfwoodxMeryl.

Q: What fics are not accepted?
A: Mary Sue fics (i.e. original characters) are immediately disqualified.
PWP lemons are also immediately disqualified (and posting them at fanfiction.net is against site rules too).
Shounen ai/yaoi/slash (i.e. Legato/Knives) may be considered for a later contest, but is invalid in this contest.

Q: Does it have to be strictly romance?
A: Not at all! Just as long as the alternate pairing romance is a part of it, it can be any genre.

Fanfictions in this contest will be judged on the following criteria:

1: Characterization. Remaining in character determines your score here, although intentional and explained OOCness such as Knives changing to a more loving character, Milly becoming more serious, etc *might* not count against you if it is done well.)

2: Technical skill. Your use of proper spelling, grammar, punctuation, and formatting will determine your score in this category.

3: Plausibility of storyline. Your ability to plausibly write *how* the pairing came to be and/or how the relationship develops is scored here.

4: Narrative and dialogue. This is the category where your storytelling skill per se and your character dialogue will determine your score.

5: Style. This category is an offshoot of characterization and plausibility-it is judged on how similar your fic is to the anime, i.e. is reading it like watching some lost episode, or is reading it making you wonder how someone ever came up with this?

6: Genre. This category is determined on how well your fic matches the genre you've chosen for it. i.e. if it's humor, is it funny? If it's angst, is it sad? If it's general, did you throw in a little of everything?

7: Combined merit: This is the final score for the fic, a combination of other factors and any other added comments.

Prizes:

Grand prize: You will be recognized here in my blog as the Grand Prize winner, and your name and a link to your prizewinning fic will be posted to my myotaku.com site itself for 5 months-as well as in my fanfiction.net profile. I and all other judges who agree will post favorable reviews for your fic at fanfiction.net, and you may list that you are the winner of the Grand Prize in your ff.net profile and at myotaku.com.

First runner-up: You will be recognized here in my blog as the first runner-up, and your name and fic will be posted to my site here for 4 months. I and any other judges who liked your work will give you a favorable review, and you may state in your profile that you are the first runner-up in the contest.

Second runner-up: You will be recognized here in my blog as such, with a link to your fic, and I or some other judges will give you a favorable review.

Honorable Mention: If your fic was good but there are a lot of equally good fics, I may hand out several of these-good reviews and links to your fics in my blog.

How do I judge?
Comment to this post and say you want to judge.

When will judging take place?
Approximately 2 months from now, once a panel of 5 judges has been chosen and once a sufficient number of fanfics are in the running.

How will these fics be judged?
At the time for judging, a post will be made to this blog entitled "Judging Open For Trigun Alternate Pairings Contest." The judging will be done in a conference using the comment feature. Other users are politely requested NOT to comment to that post.

Any more questions? e-mail me or comment here.
